Objectives : It has been known that immune reaction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of otitis media (OM). We investigated the change of middle ear mucosal inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) following administration of Taglisodog-eum (TSE) in experimental animals. Materials and Methods : Otitis media was induced by injecting 1 mg/kg of Pseudomonas aeruginosa LPS transtympanically in 60 rats. These rats were divided into two groups, the LPS group (n=30, remained naive after OM elicitation) and the TSE group (n=30, treated with TSE after OM elicitation) and 6 additional rats were kept as a normal control group (n=6, remained naive until tissue collection). The rats were killed at the 1st, 3rd, and 7th days after challenge. The temporal bones in each group were harvested and examined histopathologically by hematoxyline-eosin stain. Middle ear mucosa were taken at the 1st, 3rd, and 7th days after challenge. The levels of spicing variants of TNF-${\alpha}$ transcription were evaluated by Realtime-PCR. Results : TSE suppressed LPS-induced TNF-${\alpha}$ mRNA expression and thickness of the submucosal layer and infiltration of inflammatory cells in rat middle ear epithelium. Conclusion : The results suggest that TSE may be effective in decreasing inflammation with particular application to mucosal metaplasia in OM.
The measurement in ruling period of King Sejong in Chosun Dynasty remained unchanged compared with that of Goyeo Dynasty. But Hwangjongchuck, the basis of measurement was amended in the 7th year in ruling period of King Sejong, Juchuck, Youngchochuck, Cholegichuck in the 12th, and Pobeckchuck in the 13th. The record of Pobeckchuck first appeared in the true record of Chosun Dynasty in the 4th year in ruling period of Sejong, and first record on the amendment of the Pobeckchuck was found in the 13th year in his ruling period. The presentation of the comparison of Pobeckchuck with Cholegichuck in volume 128 of true record of Sejong makes help the estimation of the length of Pobeckchuck. To calculate one Chuck of Pobeckchuck with this measurement comes to 44.75cm in present measurement, and the length at this time had remained unchanged to Yeonsangun period. Important fact which was newly found in the true record of Chosun Dynasty was that Pobeckchuck had been used for diverse purposes. Pobeckchuck was used to measure width, length and thickness in manufacturing wardrobe. and also to measure cloth decorating wardrobe. This is the first record(4th year of reign of Sejong) showing that Pobeckchuck was first used to measure cloth in Chosun Dynasty The record shows that Pobeckchuck was also used to measure the length of circumference of castle for its construction. to measure distances between people, the length of hook of wooden handle, and the height of man.

For purpose of anti-static film remaining unchanged in the condition of $160^{\circ}C$, organic solvent, acid and base solution $0.01\sim0.03{\mu}m$ particles of Sb doped tin oxide(ATO) were grafted by 3-Glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPTS) for improving interfere bonding force between ATO and epoxy resin. The particles were dispersed in 2-methoxyethanol with YD-I28(Bisphenol A type epoxy resin, Kukdo chemical) and 1-imidazole as hardener. The anti-static solutions were coated on PI film as thickness of $0.1{\mu}m$. Surface resistivity of anti-static film containing conductive polymer became $10^{12}\Omega/\Box$ after 32 hours in $160^{\circ}C$. The surface resistivity of ATO grafted by GPTS / Epoxy coating layer remained as $10^{7.6}\Omega/\Box$ in $160^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. ATO grafted by GPTS / Epoxy coating layer coated on PI film was dipped in acetone for 7 days. The surface resistivity remained unchanged as $10^{7.6}\Omega/\Box$. The anti-static layer dipped in water solutions containing each KOH 10 wt % and $H_2SO_4$ 2 wt% was ultra-sonicated for 10 minutes per once until 30th. The surface resistance of anti-static layer containing ATO grafted by GPTS remained unchanged.

The residual stress and birefringence in injection-molded plastic parts can be divided into the flow-induced residual stress and birefringence produced in flowing stage, the thermally-induced residual stress and birefringence produced in cooling stage. However, the physics involved in the generation of the thermally-induced residual stress and birefringence still remains to be understood. Because polymer experiences viscoelastic history near the glass-transition temperature it is hard to model the entire process. Volume relaxation phenomenon was included to predict the final thermally-induced residual stress and birefringence in quenched plastic parts more accurately. The present study focused on comparing the predicted values far thermally-induced residual stress and birefringence with and without volume relaxation behavior (or free volume theory) under free and constrained quenching conditions. As a result, tile residual stress remained as a tensile stress at the center and as a compressible stress near the surface for the free quenching cases. In contract the residual stress remained as a compressible stress at the center and as a tensile stress near the surface fur the constrained quenching cases. The residual birefringence remained as minus values at the center and as plus values near the surface for the free quenching cases. Interestingly the residual birefringence showed minus values in entire zone for the constrained quenching cases. In the prediction of birefringence only the case including free volume theory showed the correct result for the distribution of birefringence in thickness direction.
It was reported that esthetic composite resin restoration reinforces the strength of remaining tooth structure with preserving the natural tooth structure. However, it is unknown how much the strength would be recovered. The purpose of this study was to compare the fracture resistance of three types of undermined cavity filled with composite resin with that of non-cavitated natural tooth. Forty sound upper molars were allocated randomly into four groups of 10 teeth. After flattening occlusal enamel. undermined cavities were prepared in thirty teeth to make three types of specimens with various thickness of occlusal structure (Group $1{\sim}3$). All the cavity have the 5 mm width mesio-distally and 7 mm depth bucco-lingually. Another natural 10 teeth (Group 4) were used as a control group. Teeth in group 1 have remaining occlusal structure about 1 mm thickness, which was composed of mainly enamel and small amount of dentin. In Group 2, remained thickness was about 1.5 mm, including 0.5 mm thickness dentin. In Group 3, thickness was about 2.0 mm, including 1 mm thickness dentin. Every effort was made to keep the remaining dentin thickness about 0.5 mm from the pulp space in cavitated groups. All the thickness was evaluated with radiographic Length Analyzer program. After acid etching with 37% phosphoric acid, one-bottle adhesive (Single $Bond^{TM}$, 3M/ESPE, USA) was applied following the manufacturer's recommendation and cavities were incrementally filled with hybrid composite resin (Filtek $Z-250^{TM}$, 3M/ESPE, USA). Teeth were stored in distilled water for one day at room temperature, after then, they were finished and polished with Sof-Lex system. All specimens were embedded in acrylic resin and static load was applied to the specimens with a 3 mm diameter stainless steel rod in an Universal testing machine and cross-head speed was 1 mm/min. Maximum load in case of fracture was recorded for each specimen. The data were statistically analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and a Tukey test at the 95% confidence level. The results were as follows: 1. Fracture resistance of the undermined cavity filled with composite resin was about 75% of the natural tooth. 2. No significant difference on fracture loads of composite resin restoration was found among the three types of cavitated groups. Within the limits of this study, it can be concluded the fracture resistance of the undermined cavity filled with composite resin was lower than that of natural teeth, however remaining tooth structure may be supported and saved by the reinforcement with adhesive restoration, even of that portion consists of mainly enamel and a little dentin structure.

High strength concrete (HSC) has been mainly used in large SOC structures. HSC have superior property as well as improvement in durability compared with normal strength concrete. In spite of durability of HSC, explosive spalling in concrete front surface near the source of fire occurs serious problem in structural safety. Therefore, this study is concerned with experimentally investigation of fire resistance at high temperature due to fireproof material covering thickness in addition to concrete cover. From the test result, it was appeared that the use of fireproof material results in good performance for fire resistance and spalling prevention, and the optimal fireproof covering thickness is 1~3mm. On the other hand, the temperature was rapidly increased by explosive spalling within 30 minutes and showed very little rise caused by evaporation heat after then. It was also found that the void channel was remained at high temperature as PP fiber melts at about $200^{\circ}C$, and the pore pressure in concrete was decreased.
One of the most important characteristic curves of a solar cell is its current density-voltage (J-V) curve under AM1.5G insolation. Solar cell can be considered as a semiconductor diode, so a diode equivalent model was used to estimate its parameters from the J-V curve by numerical simulation. Active layer plays an important role in operation of a solar cell. We investigated the effect thicknesses and defect densities (Nd) of the active layer on the J-V curve. When the active layer thickness was varied (for Nd = 8×1017 cm-3) from 800 nm to 100 nm, the reverse saturation current density (Jo) changed from 3.56×10-5 A/cm2 to 9.62×10-11 A/cm2 and its ideality factor (n) changed from 5.28 to 2.02. For a reduced defect density (Nd = 4×1015 cm-3), the n remained within 1.45≤n≤1.92 for the same thickness range. A small increase in shunt resistance and almost no change in series resistance were observed in these cells. The low reverse saturation current density (Jo = 9.62×10-11 A/cm2) and diode ideality factor (n = 2.02 or 1.45) were observed for amorphous silicon based solar cell with 100 nm thick active layer.

The infill walls, whose contribution to the earthquake resistance of a structure is generally ignored due to their limited lateral rigidities, constitute a part of the lateral load bearing system of an RC frame structure. A common method for improving the earthquake behavior of RC frame structures is increasing the contribution of the infill walls to the overall lateral rigidity by strengthening them through different techniques. The present study investigates the influence of externally bonded perforated steel plates on the load capacities, rigidities, and ductilities of hollow brick infill walls. For this purpose, a reference (unstrengthened) and twelve strengthened specimens were subjected to monotonic diagonal compression. The experiments indicated that the spacing of the bolts, connecting the plates to the wall, have a more profound effect on the behavior of a brick wall compared to the thickness of the strengthening plates. Furthermore, an increase in the plate thickness was shown to result in a considerable improvement in the behavior of the wall only if the plates are connected to the wall with closely-spaced bolts. This strengthening technique was found to increase the energy absorption capacities of the walls between 4 and 14 times the capacity of the reference wall. The strengthened walls reached ultimate loads 30-160% greater than the reference wall and all strengthened walls remained intact till the end of the test.
To investigate goose feather follicle development and difference among the dorsal, ventral, and thoracal tracts during embryonic stage, the present study was conducted on 180 embryos at different ages obtained from the Jilin White goose, a Chinese indigenous breed. The study indicated that the epidermis and dermis of goose embryo formed between embryonic day 10 (E10) and 12 (E12). The thickness of the epidermis remained unchanged until hatching; while the thickness of the dermis increased throughout embryonic development. The primary feather follicles formed around E13-E14 and there were no new primary feather follicles forming after E18. The secondary feather follicles formed coincidently at E18. The density of primary and secondary feather follicles on the ventral and thoracal tracts were significantly higher than those on the dorsal tract (p<0.05). For primary and secondary follicles, the diameter of the feather bulbs and the depth of the feather follicles on the dorsal tract were much greater than those on the thoracal and ventral tracts (p<0.01), respectively; while the difference between the ventral and thoracal tracts was not significant (p>0.05). It is concluded that the Jilin White goose is of a single-follicle group structure, differing from mammals which are of multiple-follicle group structure.
