  • To provide multicasting service, several multicast protocols for mobile hosts have been proposed. But they include glitches such as a non-optimal delivery route, data loss when hosts move another network, therefore they have some insecure problems about multicast data transmission. In this paper, we consider these problems and propose a new reliable and efficient multicast routing protocol for Mobile If networks. The proposed protocol provides reliable multicast transmission by compensating data loss from the previous agent when a mobile host moves another network. Also it provides additional function that is directly to connect a multicast tree according to the status of agents. It provides more efficient and optimal multicast path. The performance of the proposed protocol is proved by simulation of various conditions.

  • Overlay Multicast is a promising approach to overcome the implementation problem of IP multicast. Real time services like Internet broadcasting are provided by the overlay multicast technology due to the complex nature and high cost of IP multicast. To reduce frequent updates of multicast members and to support real time service without delay, we suggest a reliable overlay multicast tree based on members' sojourn probabilities. Path reliabilities from a source to member nodes are considered to maximize the reliability of an overlay multicast tree. The problem is formulated as a binary integer programming with degree and delay bounds. A tabu search heuristic is developed to solve the NP-complete problem. Outstanding results are obtained which is comparable to the optimal solution and applicable in real time.

  • Overlay Multicast is a promising approach to overcome the implementation problem of IP multicast. Real time services like internet broadcasting are provided by overlay multicast technology due to the complex nature of IP multicast and the high cost to support multicast function. Since multicast members can dynamically join or leave their multicast group, it is necessary to keep a reliable overlay multicast tree to support real time service without delay. In this paper, we consider path level reliability that connects each member node. The problem is formulated as a binary integer programming which maximizes the reliability of multicast tree. Tabu search based algorithm is presented to solve the NP-hard problem.

  • In this paper, we present the Enhanced Communication Transport Protocol-Part 5 (ECTP-5), which provides scalable and reliable multicast communication service for many-to-many applications by constructing high quality recovery trees from two-layer logical trees and repairing the losses via unicast automatic repeat request-based error control. In order to realize the protocol, we developed feasible protocol architectures and building blocks including additional functions which deal with engineering details, such as membership dynamics and sender coordination. Experimental results show that ECTP-5 scales well with various session sizes and packet loss rates in terms of control overhead and recovery latency.

  • Tree-based reliable multicast protocols provide scalability by distributing error-recovery tasks among several repair nodes. These repair nodes perform local error recovery for their receiver nodes using the data stored in their buffers. We propose a packet loss patterns adaptive feedback scheduling scheme to manage these buffers in an efficient manner. Under our scheme, receiver nodes send NAKs to repair nodes to request packet retransmissions only when the packet losses are independent events from other nodes. At dynamic and infrequent intervals, they also send ACKs to indicate which packets can be safely discarded from the repair node's buffer. Our scheme reduces delay in error recovery because the requested packets are almost always available in the repair node's buffers. It also reduces the repair node's workload because (a) each receiver node sends infrequent ACKs with non-fixed intervals and (b) their sending times are fairly distributed among all the receiver nodes.

  • Multicast is the multiparty communication that allows one-to-many communications. There are some multicast applications which are the ways of multiparty communications such as video conference system and white board. This paper proposes a dynamic allocation mechanism of designated receiver by using designated receiver list and a retransmission mechanism with designated receiver for the effective multicasting dta transmission. We designed voice conference system with multicast based on RTP/RTCP. This voice conference system increases the effect of standardization work and enables to exchange reliable standard dta with real time.

  • The IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN (Local Area Network) is widely used for wireless access due to its easy deployment and low cost. Multicast in wireless LANs is very useful for transmitting data to multiple receivers compared to unicast to each receiver. In the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN, multicast transmissions are unreliable since multicast data packets are transmitted without any feedback from receivers. Recently, various protocols have been proposed to enhance the reliability of multicast transmissions. They still have serious problems in reliability and efficiency due to the excessive control overhead by the use of a large number of control packets in the error recovery process, and due to a large number of retransmissions to satisfy all receivers. In this paper, we propose an effective scheme called PTRM(Proactive Transmission based Reliable Multicast). The proposed scheme uses a block erasure code to generate parity packets and to reduce the impact of independent packet error among receivers. After generating parity packets, the PTRM transmits data packets as many as receivers need to recover error, and then requests feedback from them. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides reliable multicast while minimizing the feedback overhead.

  • Multicast protocols are efficient methods of group communication such as video conference, Internet broadcasting and On-Line Game, but they do not support the various transmission protocol services like a reliability guarantee, FTP, or Telnet that TCPs do. The Purpose or this Paper is to find a method to utilize multicast routers can simultaneously transport multicast packets and TCP packets. For multicast network scalability and error recovery the existing SRM(Scalable Reliable Multicast)method has been used. Three packets per TCP transmission control window site are used for transport and an ACK is used for flow control. A CBR(Constant Bit Rate) and a SRM is used for UDP traffic control. Divided on whether a UDP multicast packet and TCP unicast packet is used simultaneously or only a UDP multicast packet transport is used, the multicast receiver with the longest delay is measured on the number of packets and its data receiving rate. It can be seen that the UDP packet and the TCP's IP packet can be simultaneously used in a server router.

  • IP Multicast is required of more little network resources than one in unicast. Furthermore, reliable multicast has been researched for supporting reliability at IP Multicast mechanism. Although these studies are carried out, they only have focused on general data. In other words, in case that realtime packet, they can not support reliability since they do not consider realtime properties such as dependency of interframe and playback in time. Besides, we also request to support scalability because we are based on Mobile IP network together with internet. Thus, we need a mechanism to guarantee reliability and scalability of realtime stream data. In this paper, we propose PER (Preceding Error Recovery) that reflect characteristics of the realtime data, especially for H.323. PER provides scalable reliability because it is based on tree-based multicast basically and helps to support scalable relibility as reducing control packet and recovers stream buffer space from underflow status as soon as possible. PER shows much better scalable and reliable than existing works.

  • Fast handover protocol provides seamless handover in mobile Ipv6 networks by reducing handover latency. This paper proposes FMIP-M mechanism to apply this advantage of fast handover protocol to multicast service. The FMIP-M is a fast handover mechanism that supports a reliable multicast service in mobile Ipv6 networks. When hosts move other networks, they may have seine data missing and out-of-synch problems of multicast data. The proposed mechanism provides reliable multicast transmission by compensating data losses from the previous AR. Also it provides an additional function that is able to change multicasting service types dynamically in accordance with network status related with multicasting. So that it is able to make multicast paths very close to the optimum and more efficient multicast service is possible. The performance of the proposed mechanism is evaluated by a time analysis and simulations in various conditions.
