Purpose: The problem of optimizing redundancy allocation in multi-level systems is considered when each item in a multi-level system has alternative items with the same function. The number of redundancy of multi-level system is allocated to maximize the reliability of the system under path set and cost limitation constraints. Methods: Based on cost limitation and path set constraints, a mathematical model is established to maximize system reliability. Particle swarm optimization is employed for redundant allocation and verified by numerical experiments. Results: Comparing the particle swarm optimization method and the memetic algorithm for the 3 and 4 level systems, the particle swarm optimization method showed better performance for solution quality and search time. Particularly, the particle swarm optimization showed much less than the memetic algorithm for variation of results. Conclusion: The proposed particle swarm optimization considerably shortens the time to search for a feasible solution in MRAP with path set constraints. PS optimization is expected to reduce search time and propose the better solution for various problems related to MRAP.

The redundancy allocation problem has usually considered only the component redundancy at the lowest-level for the enhancement of system reliability. A system can be functionally decomposed into system, module, and component levels. Modular redundancy can be more effective than component redundancy at the lowest-level because in modular systems, duplicating a module composed of several components can be easier, and requires less time and skill. We consider a multi-level redundancy allocation problem in which all cases of redundancy for system, module, and component levels are considered. A tabu search of memory-based mechanisms that balances intensification with diversification via the short-term and long-term memory is proposed for its solution. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to use a tabu search for this problem. Our tabu search algorithm is compared with the previous genetic algorithm for the problem on the new composed test problems as well as the benchmark problems from the literature. Computational results show that the proposed method outstandingly outperforms the genetic algorithm for almost all test problems.
Electric industry has been the object of major reforms in many countries. These reforms are aimed at attaining efficiency through competition. Thus network companies do not charge transmission cost for line user the same as method at past. This paper presents a transmission cost allocation through reliability differentiated transmission pricing in competitive electric industry. The proposed method considers only the line capacity affecting the reliability of transmission pricing under normal state and contingency state.
This paper presents a transmission cost allocation through application of a new reliability index in transmission pricing in competitive electric industry. The proposed method allocates a fair use of transmission system charge given separately to individual generator by capacity usage, based on the contribution of individual generator considering N-1 contingency in reliability margin of transmission capacity, and offers more alternatives of pricing in using transmission capacity and transmission margin.
In this paper, we recommend some game theoretical schemes try to get reliability transmission and resource allocation of the contention free period in overlapped WBAN(Wireless Body Area Net works) environment. Cooperative bargaining game is considered to guarantee a reliability conflict-free transmission. We study it by considering the priorty of device and the demand number of allocated timeslots in the CFP (Contention Free Period), and guarantee the least requested timeslots through bargaining between each user.

The traditional RAP (Redundancy Allocation Problem) of complex systems has considered only the redundancy of subsystem with homogeneous components. In this paper we extend it as a RAP of complex systems with heterogeneous components which is more flexible than the case of homogeneous components. We model this problem as a nonlinear integer programming problem, find its optimal solution by tabu search, and suggest an example of the efficient reliability design with heterogeneous components. In order to improve the quality of the solution of the tabu search, we suggest a modified tabu search to employ an adaptive procedure (1-opt or 2-opt exchange) to generate the efficient neighborhood solutions. Computational results show that our modified procedure obtains better solutions as the size of problem increases from 30 to 50, even though it requires rather more computing time. With some adjustment of the parameters of the proposed method, it can be applied to the optimal reliability designs of complex systems of ships.
This paper presents an allocation model of test times of software modules. An evaluation measure of modules which is based on the data flow path between modules is used at test phase. An evaluation measure is expressed by the possible path number of data flow for each module, which can be interpreted as an importance of individual module. Three criteria : module test time, module reliability, and system reliability is considered in this model. Multi-objective programming, hence, is used to solve this model.
Network optimization and design procedures often separate quality of service (QOS) performance measures from reliability issues. This paper considers channel allocation and flow assignment (routing) in a network subject to link failures. Fault-tolerant channel allocation and flow assingments are determined which minimize network cost while maintaining QOS performance requirements. this approach is shown to yield significant network cost reductions compared to previous heuristic methods used in the design of packet switched network with unreliable links.
In this study, the water supply reliability of the andong and Imha dam was analyzed using inflow data for 360 months from 1993 to 2022 through allocation model. First, in the analysis results of additional water supply to Deagu city, the water supply reliability of Rule (B) was the highest at 86% for andong dam, 84% for imha dam, and 80% for the control point. However, when the planned supply was supplied, the analysis results showed 94%, 93%, and 90%. Next, in the quantitative reliability analysis results, when considering additional water supply to Deagu city, Rule (A), Rule (B), and Rule (C) were analyzed as 88%, 88%, and 88%, respectively, based on the control point. When supplying the planned water supply, the quantitative reliability analysis results were 95% equally based on Rule (A), Rule (B), and Rule (C). Because of evaluating the two reliability methods, the number of shortages increases significantly when additional water is supplied to Daegu City, but the shortage is generally 5-7%, resulting in a relatively small shortage compared with the increase in the number of shortages. In the case of resilience and vulnerability, additional water supply to Daegu City takes more than two months to restore than the existing planned water supply, and the average shortage was calculated to be smaller than that of supplying the planned water. According to the results of the analysis, Andong dam has an average water storage of 130x106 m2 and Imha dam has 50x106 m2. In this deficient water supply can be compensated by water from the Nakdong river.
