Clutch energy is the thermal energy dissipated on the clutch disc, and it reaches its highest level during drive-off as a result of the difference between the angular speeds of the flywheel and clutch disc, and the torque transmitted. The thermal energy dissipated effects the clutch life. This study presents a new drive-off and thermal model to calculate the clutch energy for a rear wheel driven heavy-duty vehicle and to analyze the effects of clutch energy on temperatures of clutch pressure plate, flywheel and clutch housing. Three different driver profiles are used, based on the release of the clutch pedal in modulation zone: i) the pedal travels with the same speed all the way, ii) the travel speed of the pedal increases, iii) the travel speed of the pedal decreases. Vehicle test is performed to check the accuracy of the model. When compared to a simpler model that is widely used in the literature to calculate the clutch energy, the model used in this study calculates the clutch energy and angular speed behaviors of flywheel and transmission input shaft in better agreement with experimental results. Clutch wear and total clutch life are also estimated using the mean specific friction power.
Purpose - To vitalize a market or develop a new one, companies frequently release new products into the market, often by shortening the time to market, called the release period. This research aims to investigate the purchase intention behavior of consumers in terms of buying new products at the time of product release based on the release speed. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The research reviews the influence of relative advantage, complexity, and compatibility among innovative attributes of new products, as proposed by Rogers. Moreover, it examines the moderating effect of the innovative new product attributes in terms of speed of obsolescence of old products and how that influences consumer purchase behavior. Additionally, this study tests the research hypotheses using empirical analysis. Results - The analysis demonstrated that the relative predominance (H1) and suitability (H3) of new products had a statistically significant positive influence on new product purchase intention. However, the complexity (H2) of new products had a statistically significant positive influence on new product purchase intention in contrast to its predicted sign (-). The results of the moderating effect of the old product use period were as follows. H4-1 was not supported since the difference between the path coefficients of the group with the low level old product use period and the group with the high level, represented by the relationship of relative predominance and new product purchase intention, was not statistically significant. H5-1 was also not supported since the difference between the path coefficients of the group with the low level of old product use period and the group with the high level, represented by the relationship of complexity and new product purchase intention, was not statistically significant. However, H4-2 was supported since the difference between the path coefficients of the group with the low level of old product use frequency and the group with the high level, represented by the relationship of relative advantage and new product purchase intention was statistically significant. H5-2 was not supported since the difference between the path coefficients of the group with the low level of old product use frequency and the group with the high level, represented by the relationship of complexity and new product purchase intention, was not statistically significant. H6-2 was also not supported since the difference between the path coefficients of the group with the low level of old product use frequency and the group with the high level, represented by the relationship of compatibility and new product purchase intention, was not statistically significant. Conclusion - According to the results, only H4-2 among the hypotheses on the moderating effect of the old product use period and use frequency was statistically significant. Future research should focus on carrying out a detailed review of the hypothesis on the moderating effect of the old product usage period and frequency, find the cause, and connect this to potential new research.
This study was computationally explored how the fuel autoignition reactivity was affected by operating parameters such as fuel, pressure, intake temperatures, engine speed and EGR compositions for HCCI combustion. This is done for DME and CHEMKIN-PRO was used as a solver. At first, influence of the operating parameters and EGR compositions were showed. And then, in order to clarify the mechanism of them on autoignition reactivity, data-sets of kinetic were analyzed to investigate the elementary reaction path for heat release at transient tempeatures by using contribution matrix.
Fragrant microcapsules were prepared by in situ polymerization using urea-formaldehyde prepolymer. Lemon oil and migrin oil as susceptible materials were used. The diameter and distribution of the microcapsule were controlled by several factors, such as wall material, core material content, emulsion agent and stirring speed, respectively. Susceptible cotton fabrics with fragrant release functionality were successfully produced by using microcapsule containing fragrant materials.
Most parts of alfalfa plant have been reported to contain autotoxic substances that inhibit seed germination and early seedling growth, however, the chemical(s) is not still studied much. Effect of seed leachates of 'Vernal' alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) was evaluated for inhibition of alfalfa germination and root growth through bioassay. Alfalfa seeds were extracted in 1 L deionized water for 1 h after soaking and the leachates caused to reduce root length of alfalfa significantly as the soaking time increased. Crude seeds at 4 g L$L^{-1}$ exudated autotoxins that reduce significantly root length by 34 % compared to the control, when the seeds soaked in deionized water for 24 h. However, the extracts did not affect final germination as well as speed of germination. Extracts from ground seeds significantly reduced speed of germination (GT 50) and root length. The results indicate that release of autotoxic substances from seeds during seed imbibition was increased with increase of soaking time and seed amount, and that autotoxicity was more occurred in ground seeds than in crude seeds.

A parametric study was made to understand the fundamentals of combustion of CNG fuel in a constant volume chamber in the respect of swirl effect, and the numbers of spark ignition. Optical devices were applied for the visualization of the physics of combustion, and combustion pressures and exhaust emission were measured at several equivalence ratios by controlling speeds of a swirling motor. When the speed of a swirling motor was raised the combustion conditions were improved. The corresponding maximum combustion pressure and heat release rate were increased and the speed of flame propagation was getting faster. This research may contribute to improve the performance of CNG engine and reduce emissions in future.

This paper presents the speed control of DC motor based on deadbeat response method. Since 송 deadbeat response systems are characterized by the discrete time control, the instabiliby of the systems caused by saturation and time lag problems is inevitable. In order to release these problems, we propose a compensator utilizing the predictive control so that the fast response can be also achieved in the saturation state. Experimental results demonstrated that outputs are able to settle final values in on sampling time for unsaturated reference inputs. For saturated reference inputs, outputs take one sampling time after getting free from the saturation state. Further we are able to settle the fast response with suppressed overshoot by appling the predictive control.
Experimental study is conducted to clarify the pneumatic characteristics of brake system for freight car. KNR(Korean National Railroad)'s freight cars have the laden-tare type control valve of brake system. But, laden-tare type control valve has some shortcomings to match the high speed freight car. Newly developed diaphragm type control valve is introduced to adopt freight car for speed-up. The test using the formated train set consisted of 21 cars is conducted to estimate the pneumatic braking efficiency of the mixed train set. From the results of experiment, the pressure characteristics of each brake cylinder show similar patterns qualitatively. But, in the case of release and brake application, quantitative pressure values of brake cylinder are different.

The release, sampling and analytical methods have been developed and tested for perfluorocarbons (PFCs) atmospheric tracers in order to gain insight into the atmospheric transport and dispersion over the urban conditions of Seoul, Korea. Although PFCs tracer experiments provide unique opportunities to test local and urban scale of transport and dispersion, no previous experiment with PFCs has been conducted in Korea. PMCH and PDCH were chosen as targeted tracers in our study due to their extreme low ambient concentrations and great sensitivities among various PFCs. For PFCs release system, a set of micro-metering pump, electronic balance, vaporizing furnace and high speed blower was constructed for precise and accurate release of tracers. The precision of released rate by this system was estimated to be 1%. Samplings of PFCs were carried out by fabricated portable air samplers with micro pumps and rotameters into glass tubes packed with 150 mg of Carboxen-569. The uncertainty of these sampling system was maintained below 14%. PMCH and PDCH were quantified in GC/ECD with preconditioned injection system to eliminate the interference compounds using traps and subsequent catalytic conversion system prior to column separation. Three intensive field test were undertaken during the springtime of 2002 to 2004 in eastern part of Seoul. Daily background samples were collected to characterize the background levels of PMCH and PDCH prior to their release. The observed background concentrations of PMCH ranged from 3.5 to 10.1 fL/L and varied randomly in location and time in this study. Its mean and standard variation of background concentration ($6.8{\pm}1.9\;fL/L$) are higher than those ($3.2{\sim}5.8\;fL/L$) of other historic tracer studies. Identified uncertainty for background PMCH was $1.7{\sim}2.0\;fL/L$ using this analytical system. Combined relative uncertainty in determining the tracer's concentrations was estimated as 17%. However, its background concentrations and uncertainty in concentration determination were found to be low and stable enough for tracer study.
This paper dealt itself with the relation of the heat release rate with crank angle in combustion process by adjusting the injection time, injection amount and engine speed of diesel engine. The result of test were obtained by analyzing indicator diagram of KUBOTA 2LKE diesel engine, where the indicator was used Tertronix oscilloscope. The combustion period of diesel engine is composed of premixed burning time and combustion controlled time. The larger the premixed burning region, the higher efficiency was obtained with the higher maximum pressure than at the time of the normal smooth operation. The longer the combustion controlled time, the lower the maximum pressure than the period of the normal operation, but the efficiency was decreased. The region of premixed burning was principally controlled by injection delay, but combustion controlled time was affected when oxygen and fuel were mixed. Efficiency of engine was increased at the time of earlier injection time under the constant injection amount, and engine speed, but the pressure increasing was observed higher than the efficiency increasing.
