  • This study aimed to identify and analyze the attributes of FoMO, and to provide basic data for the intervention of FoMO in cancer patients. In order to confirm conceptual attributes, antecedents, and consequences by applying the conceptual analysis method of Walker & Avant (2010), 82 previous studies published from 2004 to 2021 were analyzed. The conceptual attributes were relative deprivation, social exclusion, lack of sense of belonging, lack of interaction with others, negative emotions, and the antecedents were a sense of alienation when you miss the flow or when excluded from activities and the desire to connect with others. The consequences of this were increased emotional distress, triggering negative emotions such as depression and anxiety, and decreased life satisfaction and self-esteem. The attributes of these FoMO were also confirmed in cancer patients. Based on this, it is necessary to develop an effective intervention program to improve FoMO in cancer patients.

  • MMORPG genre is based on the belief that all users in virtual world are equal. All users are able to obtain the corresponding wealth or status as they strive under the same resource, time. However, game bot is the main factor for harming this fair competition, causing benign gamers to feel a relative deprivation and deviate from the game. Game bots mainly form GFG(Gold Farming Group), which collects the goods in the game indiscriminately and adversely affects the economic system of the game. A general game bot detection algorithm is useful for detecting each bot, but it only covers few portions of GFG, not the whole, so it needs a wider range of detecting method. In this paper, we propose a method of detecting GFG based on items used in MMORPG genre. Several items that are mainly traded in the game were selected and the flows of those items were represented by a network. We Identified the characteristics of exchanging items of GFG bots and can identify the GFG's item trade network with real datasets from one of the popular online games.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a situation-specific theory to explain nurses' experiences of the COVID-19 crisis. Methods: The participants were 16 hospital nurses who experienced the COVID-19 crisis. Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews from September 2, 2020 to January 20, 2021. Transcribed interview contents were analyzed using Corbin and Strauss's grounded theory method. Results: A total of 38 concepts and 13 categories were identified through an open coding process. The core category found was becoming a pioneering nurse who turns crises into opportunities. The causal conditions were the chaos of being exposed defenselessly to an unexpected pandemic, fear caused by a nursing care field reminiscent of a battlefield, and moral distress from failing to protect patients' human dignity. The contextual conditions were feeling like the scapegoat of the hospital organization, increasing uncertainty due to the unpredictable state of COVID-19, and relative deprivation due to inappropriate treatment. The central phenomenon was suffering alone while experiencing the dedication of the COVID-19 hero image. The action/interactional strategy were efforts to find a breakthrough and getting the nurse's mind right, and the intervening conditions were gratitude for those who care for broken hearts and getting used to myself with repetitive work. The Consequences were becoming an independent nurse and frustration with the unchanging reality. Conclusion: This study provides the foundation for the nurse's situation-specific theory of the COVID-19 crisis by defining the crisis perceived by nurses who cared for COVID-19 patients and suggesting types of coping with the crisis.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of early maladaptive schemas and their associations with clinical symptoms in patients with schizophrenia. Methods: Forty-eight patients with schizophrenia, 49 patients with major depressive disorder, and 50 healthy controls completed the Young Schema Questionnaire and symptom measures including the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale-Expanded (BPRS-E). Results: The schizophrenia group had significantly higher scores than the healthy controls and lower scores than the depression group in most schemas. Compared with healthy controls, the schizophrenia group exhibited higher scores in 10 schemas, i.e., mistrust, social isolation, failure, dependence, vulnerability to harm, enmeshment, insufficient self-control, subjugation, emotional inhibition, and negativity schemas (all p<0.001). Moreover, vulnerability to harm, enmeshment, subjugation, and negativity schemas were correlated with total scores of the BPRS-E (0.37≤r≤0.43, all p<0.05). Regarding the five BPRS domains, emotional deprivation schema showed significant relationships with negative (r=0.50, p=0.005) and disorganization (r=0.39, p=0.033) symptoms, while no schemas showed correlations with positive symptoms. Conclusion: These results suggest that most schemas in patients with schizophrenia pertain to impaired autonomy and performance as well as disconnection and rejection domains and may improve our understanding and the treatment of schizophrenia from a perspective of schema therapy focused on these domains.

  • Introduction: The objective of the present study was to investigate bedtime, rise time and time-in-bed of Korean college students, separately on weekday and on weekend and to compare them. In addition, this study also aimed to evaluate the influence of gender, age and grade on the above sleep parmeters in Korean college students. Methods: Information regarding bedtime and rise time, separately on weekday and on weekend, of Korean college students were obtained by self-administered questionnaire. Questionnaires of 1,825 students (1,416 females and 409 males, age 18-30;mean age $21.1{\pm}2.2$) were used for statistical analyses. Results: Korean college students retired to bed 50 minutes later (00:49 on weekday;01:40 on weekend;t=39.67, p<0.001), rose 1 hour 58 minutes later (07:52 on weekday;09:50 on weekend;t=39.46, p<0.001), and slept 1 hour 8 minutes longer (t=13.33, p<0.001) on weekend. Compared to male students, female students had earlier rise time (t=8.96, p<0.01;t=3.89, p<0.01) and earlier bedtime both on weekday and weekend (t=7.10, p<0.01;t=6.04, p<0.01), and shorter time-in-bed on weekday (t=1.99, p<0.01). In addition, rise time delay and time-in-bed increase on weekend were more prominent in female students than in male students (t=3.41, p<0.01; t=3.68, p<0.01). Grade was correlated with bedtime and rise time on weekday (${\beta}=0.1022$, p<0.01;${\beta}=0.1009$, p<0.01), bedtime and time-in-bed on weekend (${\beta}=0.1096$, p<0.01;${\beta}=-0.0990$, p<0.01), and differences between week-day and weekend of the rise time and the time-in-bed (${\beta}=-0.0906$, p<0.01;${\beta}=-0.1115$, p=0.02). Conclusions: In this study, Korean college students had earlier bedtime/rise time and shorter time-in-bed on weekday than on weekend. These findings suggest that weekday sleep-wake schedule of Korean college students may be advanced relative to their biological sleep-wake cycle and that this discrepancy may be associated with weekday sleep deprivation. In addition, differences of sleep patterns between weekday and weekend were more prominent in female students and students with lower grade. Therefore, discrepancy between weekday sleep-wake schedule and biological sleep-wake cycle, as well as weekday sleep deprivation, might be more serious in female or lower-grade students.

  • This study focused on the diversification of the elderly living cost estimate through statistical analysis method and Engel method(market basket method). The results of this study were as follows. First of all, due to Engel method, it has shown that the minimum living cost of aged couples was 566,478won on average of 2006, single aged men 306,210 won and single aged women 260,276 won. Secondly, according to the first way of statistical analysis, the minimum living cost of elderly couples was 860,043won, the standard was 1,018,669won and abundant 1,287,555won. The second way of that, the minimum(of elderly couples) was 694.916won, the standard 1,037,779won and abundant 1,556,551won. Those numbers included imputed rent. These results were changed to that the minimum is 435,416won, the standard 548,250won and the abundant 699,844won when imputed rent were excluded Moreover, it was also represented that the minimum of Engel method was between that of quasi-relative standard line and that of not imputed rent. Lastly, in the deprivation indicators method studied by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affair, it was concerned that an underestimation of elderly deprivation might have been got if some inappropriate data include. Given this study, it could not be judged that various estimating ways had been tried were consistency, but market-basket method was keenly needed. Market-basket method is being an absolute estimating way including only elderly data. Therefore, what is asking for first is - because other analysis can be limited by absolute estimating ways, particularly market-basket method - to be required systemic and all-arounded elderly living cost with more various ways.

  • This paper compares two indicators, economic development and social condition, to find a better way to measure the level of social welfare development. The results show that social condition is more adequate indicator than economic development. The social condition has high correlation with the development of social welfare in all the 78 countries as well as in five groups of countries when the economic development is controlled. The comparison of two indicators reveals important findings. Among other things, the higher the level of social condition compared with economic development, the larger the social welfare expenditure. This tendency is particularly strong among the western European countries and former socialist countries. This result implies that the macro-level policy of social redistribution is also important for the development of social welfare in addition to micro-level policy of income redistribution. As we expected, the results show that the level of Korean social welfare development is very low. Considering our levels of economic development and social condition, predicted social welfare expenditure from regression model is at least 17% of GDP, but we are spending only 30% of this predicted expenditure. Another serious problem in Korean social welfare is unbalanced expenditure between social insurance and public assistance. On the basis of these results, this paper suggests three implications for social policy to improve Korean social welfare: First of all, the gap between predicted and actual expenditures should be closed to improve the minimum level of social welfare. Secondly, the level of social condition itself should be improved to increase the public awareness of social welfare. Finally, the wide difference in expenditure between universal and selective social welfare programs should also be removed to decrease the relative deprivation of the poor.

  • The purpose of this study is to observe the awareness and needs of original inhabitants on urban to rural migration and propose public projects with a consideration of their stance based on the results. To comprehend their awareness and needs on urban to rural migration through their experience related to it, focus group interview was done and three categories were identified as a result, which are 'relative deprivation', 'limitations and difficulties of urban to rural migration', and 'plans for successful settlement'. First, the original inhabitants were discontent towards the government policies related to urban to rural migration and migrant's behaviors seemed to form negative perception on it. Second, financial difficulty and trouble in stable crop cultivation and acquirement of farming techniques were identified as limitations and difficulties of urban to rural migration. Third, the original inhabitants recognized the need of direct communication between original inhabitants and migrants and activation of meetings for exchange of information to positive relationship between the two groups and migrants should have proper attitude and effort to learn the rural culture for interaction and cooperation. Fourth, there's in need for an institution, which serves as a focal point that provides information and support urban to rural migration. Fifth, successful plans for settlements of migrants thought by the original inhabitants were found. Sixth, there's a need for the original inhabitants to play the role of a mentor to the migrants for their settlement and to promote positive relationship between them.

  • This study examines the unemployment and labor market demand dynamics as well as their implication for social exclusion in the metropolitan areas of Korea since the financial crisis of 1997. The unemployment research containing significant implication for social exclusion is a key area to be explored with the research of skill and income polarization due to structural economic transformation. Skill polarization usually results in the job loss for some people, which most likely leads to the economic deprivation and social exclusion. The unemployment rate and its regional disparity began to fall since 2000, but the disparity reversed to increase after 2005. The labor market dynamics of the metropolitan areas are turned out to be related with the size of the city and the relative shares of both manufacturing and service sectors. In addition, the employment growth is turned out to be related with the changes of both output and productivity. It is also found that the unemployment is affected with the job change and the tertiarization of the economy. However, it is of more significance to recognize that the dynamics and patterns of the labor market in the metropolitan areas are quite spatially differentiated and the differentiation is likely determined by the factors such as industrial structure, employment dynamics and job demand changes.

  • As social networking services (SNS) become widely used tools for maintaining social relationships, people use SNS to express themselves online. Users are free to form multiple characters in SNS because of online anonymity. This phenomenon causes SNS users to easily demonstrate multiple personas that are different from their identities in the real world. Therefore, this study focuses on online multi-personas that establish multiple fake identities in the SNS environment. The main objective of this study is to investigate factors that affect online multi-personas. Fake online identities can have various negative consequences such as cyber bullying, cyber vandalism, or antisocial behavior. Since the boundary between the online and offline worlds is fading fast, these negative aspects of online behavior may influence offline behaviors as well. This study focuses on teenagers who often create multi-personas online. According to previous studies, personal identities are usually established during a person's youth. Based on data on 664 teenage users, this study identifies four emotional factors, namely, closeness with others, relative deprivation, peer pressure and social norms. According to data analysis results, three factors (except closeness with others) have positive correlations with users' multi-personas. This study contributes to the literature by identifying the factors that cause young people to form online multi-personas, an issue that has not been fully discussed in previous studies. From a practical perspective, this study provides a basis for a safe online environment by explaining the reasons for creating fake SNS identities.
