  • This paper estimated the demand function of the cuts of Korean beef and imported beef by using the consumer panel and retail price data from the Korean Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, and the weather data from the Korea Meteorological Administration with an log-log model and AIDS model. The results show that the preference for cuts of beef used for cooked soup, steamed dish, Changjorim are more elastic than cuts used for roasting when there is a change in price and income in the estimation of demand function of Korean beef. On the other hand, consumers respond sensitively with the demand of roasting part compared to steamed dish, Changjorim, soup when there is change in price and income in the estimation of demand function of imported beef. The results indicate that there is substitutional relationship between Korean beef and imported beef, because Korean beef cuts used for roasting can substitute for imported roasting part and the same relationship applies to steamed dish, soup, Changjorim. In addition, family number, family member, husband job, purchasing place, means of transportation, purchasing time, weather are statistically significant.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ways in international married couples perceive the lives of their spouses as well as their own, and the ways in which they perceive their relationships with their children. In addition, the study attempts to explore the implicit meanings at work in the lives of international married families. The participants in this study were eight international married couples from rural areas and the data were gathered by means of semi-structured interviews. According to the findings, international married couples perceived their relationships with their children in terms of individual-specific maternal roles versus the Korean culturally-specific paternal roles. Secondly, in terms of their spouse' life, husbands relied more on their wives and had high expectations of them. On the other hand, wives had the tendency to pay more attention and place more hope on their children rather than their husbands. Lastly, regarding their own lives, the findings revealed that wives tended to maintain the hope and desire for a better life, whereas the husbands were unable to adapted to their reality and tended to look back on the past. In addition, the limitations of this study and suggestions for future studies were also discussed.

The purposes of this study were that the identification the cognitive structure and the influencing factors of the maternal identity in primi-gravida. Theoretical framework in this study, maternal identity in primi-gravida was constructed as a cognitive output, has the cognitive structure of cognitive-perceptual factor, cognitive-behavioral factor, and cognitive-emotional factor. Influencing factors of maternal identity was constructed as a cognitive input, which were pregnancy related perceptions (pregnancy intention, minor discomfort, value of motherhood), interpersonal relationship(relationship with mother, relationship with husband, relationship with social network), preparation to motherhood(maternal knowledge, antenatal self care), and biological factor (gestation period). Descriptive data analysis was done by SAS PC$^{+}$, testing the hypothetical model was done by covariance structural analysis using LISREL 8.03 program. The result of the hypothesis testing, the value of motherhood(y=.650, T=4.26) the maternal knowledge (y=.137, T=2.030), the gestation period( y=.113, T=2.621), showed significant causal effect on the maternal identity in primi-gravida. In conclusion, the maternal identity in primi-gravida had interrelated cognitive structure consist of perceptual, behavioral, and emotional factors. • Cervical cancer is the fourth common cancer among women worldwide. Pap smear screening has resulted in deceasing incidence of cervical cancer in developed countries but low uptake of Pap smear screening among women in developing countries is still a public health challenge. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to assess the relationship between self-efficacy and timely uptake of Pap smear among Iranian women. A total of 580 married women referred to primary health care centers covered administratively by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran were administered a questionnaire by trained staff. Data were analyzed with SPSS (version 16) software, using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. The mean age for participants was $33.1{\pm}8.8years$. There was a significant association between self-efficacy and Pap smear screening (P<0.01). There was also a positive correlation between duration of marriage and husband's education with Pap smear uptake (P<0.01). In univariate analysis, there was a significant association between Pap smear uptake and level of selfefficacy (OR = 15.3 for intermediate and OR=7.4 for good level), duration of marriage (OR = 5.7 for 5-14 years and OR=10.4 for more than 15), age (OR =2.7 for 27-34 years and OR=7.4 for more than 35 years) and husband education level (OR=2.3 for more than 12 years of education). In multivariate analysis, significant associations persisted between Pap smear uptake and self-efficacy (OR = 23.8; 95% CI: 8.7, 65.5), duration of marriage (OR = 5.9; 95% CI: 2.8, 12.2), age (OR = 3.9; 95% CI: 1.2, 12.9) and husband's education (OR = 2.5; 95% CI: 2.0, 10.3). Efforts are needed to increase women's knowledge about cervical cancer and improve their self-efficacy and perceptions of the Pap smear screening in order to reduce cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates.

The subject included 114 preschool children, along with their mothers, selected from kindergartens and day care centers in rural areas. The instruments included the parenting stress index, social support inventory and the social maturity scale. The statistics used from this data were t-test, one-way ANOYA(Scheffe test), correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. This study showed that maternal parenting stress was influenced significantly by the related variables; gender of child, birth order of child, age of mother, educational attainment of mother, family income, religion, family type. And also, social support was influenced significantly by the above variables. The child's social development was influenced significantly by the variables that related child and the family. Correlation analysis indicated that parenting stress and social development of the child were relatively negative high correlation coefficients. And social support and social development of the child were relatively positive high correlation coefficients. The important factors on predicting social development of the child were found to be birth order of child, age of mother, educational attainment of mother, family income, religion, family type, daily stress, stress of difficult child, stress of parent-child dysfunctional interaction, educational distress, husband support, and other support.
