The Patterns of Technology Strategy Formulation: The Case of Korean Firms

  • Understanding the fact that more spending for R&D is merely a necessity, not a factor of success, managing technological development efforts effectively and efficiently for higher R&D productivity and sustainable growth has become an important issue for contemporary firms. Based on a survey on small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms, this paper explores the relationships of leadership positions, technological contents and acquisition methods of korean firms. This paper has identified several findings from Korean manufacturing firms: (1) five different patterns are identified in the technology strategy of medium-sized companies; (2) a significantly positive relationship exists between a firm's leadership position and the aggressiveness in technological contents of their acquisition methods; (3) a significantly positive relationship of some technology acquisition methods to the firms' leadership position exists,

안전참여활동에 대한 안전동기의 조절효과에 관한 연구 (The moderating effect of safety motivation on employee safety participation in SME)

  • With Zohar(1980)'s research on safety climate and industrial safety, occupational safety and health literatures begin to emphasize the influence of organizational context. Based on this research trend, this paper tried to review the relationship between safety efforts and employee safety participation, and the moderating effect of safety motivation on such relationship. Based on the responses from 643 manufacturing workers, the results of statistical analysis showed that company precaution activity and management safety involvement have affirmative effects on the employee safety participation, but safety education has not. The extent precaution activity forces on participation activity was proved to be influenced by employee safety motivation.

  • This present study investigatesed the impact of the team innovation-oriented human resource management (HRM) practices on employees' turnover intention among financial, pharmaceuticals, distribution, and manufacturing industries in Korea. Furthermore, we explored whether risk perception of turnover and the cost of changing job would mediate the relationship between team innovation-oriented human resource management practices with employees' turnover intention in different industries in Korea. To that end, PLS structural equation modeling was used to exam the research hypothesis. We have found that team innovation-oriented HRM practices have a significant impact on employees' turnover intention. Moreover, we have discovered risk perception of turnover and the switching cost of changing job playing mediating role in the relationship of team innovation-oriented HRM practices with turnover intention among different type of industries employee. Lastly, the theoretical implications were discussed based on these findings.

Foreign-Born Public Relations Faculty Members' Relationship with their Universities as a Soft Power Resource in U.S. Public Diplomacy

  • With globalization and new communication technologies, governments aim to cultivate relationships with their foreign publics. This goal represents the convergence of the public relations and public diplomacy domains. In this regard, this study aims to explore how foreign-born faculty members' attitudes and behaviors toward the U.S. are shaped by their relationships with their universities. Findings confirm a significant link between foreign-born faculty members' perceived relationships with their universities and their attitudes and behavioral intentions toward the U.S. The authors conclude that a positive relationship between universities and foreign faculty members can serve as a soft power resource in U.S. public diplomacy. This study contributes to governments' public diplomacy efforts by analyzing the roles of the foreign-born faculty members as strategic communication channels in cultivating relationships between a host country and their homelands.

  • This paper investigates the evolution of 'inter-firm' technology transfer in the Thai automobile industry, which has gradually been integrated into global production network of some specific automotive models(one-ton pickups). This paper discusses the linkage between the role of automobile assemblers in transferring technology and the way their strategic changes bring about heightened demands on the technological capacity of suppliers and the contents of technology transfer. With higher competition at the global level, local suppliers are required to improve their technical and managerial skills, especially in the area of 'product engineering' capability. The authors examine the ways local firms have adapted to these changes in their environments, as well as the ways they utilize inter-firm relationship with automobile assemblers as a means to improve their own technological capabilities. The dynamic process of capability formation in local parts firms, through intensive efforts and learning inducements brought about by inter-firm relationships, are also discussed.

  • This study classifies the marketing mix of LASIK eye surgery clinics into 7Ps, examines the influence of each factor of 7Ps(product, place, price, promotion, process, people and physical evidence) on customer satisfaction, and investigates the effect of customer satisfaction on trust and relationship commitment. Survey of 500 patients who received surgeries in 3 eye clinics in Busan area was conducted through self-administered questionnaires, and, with this data, path analysis was performed to estimate the study model. Main result showed that, among 7Ps, product, price, promotion, people and physical evidence had significant positive effect on customer satisfaction which, in turn, had significant positive effect on trust and relationship commitment. Also, it was found that trust positively affected relationship commitment. This result would be considered helpful in medical institution's efforts to establish trust on customer satisfaction and maintain relationship commitment. It also implies that, in order to enhance competitiveness in increasingly competitive medical market, establishment of proper marketing strategy is urgently required where the determinants of customer satisfaction are effectively administered and ultimate relationship commitment of customers based on trust can be maintained and enhanced.

So, Relationship marketing will lays a foundation of new travel agency's environment through competitive of relation to travel agency and travel agency, travel agency and hotel or travel agency and airplane. This study's object are present relationships between travel agency and travel relation enterprise of cooperation, complication and competitiveness to relation form. And this study are presents suggestion to generate of hereafter travel relation enterprise through study on relationship with hotel and airplane. A final object of this study are presents a model applys relation method of travel agency and travel agency, hotel and airplane through inspect to specialist analysis. In the result of study, Travel agency are low position and difficult with hotel and airplane at the cooperation but acually It's difficult with travel relation enterprise. So, Travel agency will be operates characteritic system and regulations for win with travel relation enterprise for efficiency of working more than hotel and airplane. Airplane is the best big travel relation enterprise. So, The most airplane has to high cooperate with travel agency. That's why airplane keep going close cooperation with travel agency. Travel agency has to close cooperate with hotels secondly through marketing, exchanging information and union advertisement etc. Hotels are low in complications than travel agency but high in complications than airplane. Although travel relation enterprise are different system individually, because of all of us working with union object, Travel agency and travel compliment-cooperation relationship.relation enterprise has to autonomy behavior with close cooperation through.

개인기부자들의 관계의 질과 기부의도에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구 (A Study of the Elements Effecting on Individual Donators' Relationship Quality and Donation Will)

  • 본 연구는 개인기부자들의 기부기관에 대한 관계지속성에 관한 연구로서 개인기부자들의 기존경험만족과 일체성, 친밀도가 관계의 질과 기부의도 및 충성도를 변수로 해서 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 기부행위에 대한 기존연구 고찰을 통해서 기부행위에 영향을 주는 변수들간에 관계성을 기초로 기부자와 기부기관의 관계지속의도 모형을 도출해 보고 그 모형을 바탕으로 비영리기관의 관계성을 증대하기 위한 마케팅 시사점을 제시하고자 한다. 서울 및 경기지역에 비영리기관에 물질적 또는 시간적기부를 하고 있는 242명을 대상으로 8개의 가설을 검증한 결과 기부기관의 기부의도 및 충성도는 관계의 질에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났고 있다. 또한 관계의 질인 신뢰와 몰입은 기존경험만족과 기부기관의 친밀도가 영향을 주는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 따라서 기부기관의 기부 경험자들에 만족도를 높이는 노력과 기부자들과 기부기관의 친밀도를 높일 수 있는 노력과 활동이 필요하다. 적극적인 홍보활동을 통해서 기부자들에 기부만족도를 높이는 방법과 친밀도를 높일 수 있는 마케팅 활동이 필요하다.

프랜차이즈 호텔의 LMX가 종업원의 직무스트레스, 직무역할성과, 그리고 충성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of LMX on Work Stressors, Work Role Performance, and Employee Loyalty in Franchising Hotels)

  • Purpose - In hotel industry, quality of leader-member exchange(LMX) relationship is very critical, because it impacts on the employee's work attitude and behaviors. Thus, this research examines the effect of LMX on employee loyalty in the context of hotel business and identifies mediating roles of work stressors, work role performance in the relationship between LMX and employee loyalty. This research suggests the guidelines for how hotel leaders should manage their employees and build employee loyalty that improve management and business performance. Research design, data, and methodology - This study tests the structural relationship between LMX, work stressors, work role performance, and employee loyalty. Work role performance divide into three sub-dimensions such as individual task proficiency, individual task adaptivity, and individual task proactivity. In order to examine the purposes of this research, research model and hypotheses were developed. All constructs were measured with multiple items developed and tested in the previous studies. The data were collected from 113 franchise hotel employees and were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and SmartPLS 3 program. Result - The findings of this research are as follows. First, leader-member exchange(LMX) have significant positive impacts on work stressors, work role performance, and employee loyalty. Second, work stressors have significant negative impacts on work role performance and employee loyalty. Third, work role performance has significant positive impact on employee loyalty. Conclusions - The outcomes of this research indicate that hotel leaders should focus on the dyadic relationship with their employees how to improve employee productivity through LMX relationship. In turn, the quality of this relationship influences employees's work attitudes and behaviors. As a result of increasing job demands in hotel business which relies heavily on human resources, the hotel leader must find ways to prevent or reduce stressors and associated strains. If hotel employees perceive the high quality of LMX relationship, they improve their work role performance which influences loyalty. Therefore, the hotel leaders should develop monetary or non-monetary reward system for the employees and, make an efforts to have unique social exchange relationships with employees.
