Purpose - Previous studies related to emotional labor of salespeople have mainly focused on identifying the antecedents of emotional exhaustion and turnover intention and exploring the mitigating effects salespeople's motivation on emotional exhaustion and turnover intention. They also demonstrates that there are different roles for moderating in social support, which means mental/physical support related to the job in supervisors, colleagues and organizations. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how service employees' surface acting affect turnover intention through emotional exhaustion. Another important objective of this paper is to investigate whether perceived social support moderates 1) the relationship between surface acting and emotional exhaustion 2) the relationship between emotional exhaustion and turnover intention. Research design, data, and methodology - To test the hypotheses, we collected the data from Korean insurance company sales employees. Results - The service employees' surface acting was positively related to the emotional exhaustion; in turn, the service employees' feelings on emotional exhaustion are positively related to turnover intention. In addition, Perceived Social Support significantly moderated the relationship between surface acting and emotional exhaustion. However, perceived social support has a non-significant moderating effect on the path from emotional exhaustion to turnover intention. On the basis of these results, the following conclusion can be drawn. First, distribution service companies will be needed the administrative efforts to offer counseling programs and space to provide their members with enough rest in experiencing psychological pain due to the salespeople's surface acting. Also, it is necessary for distribution service companies to identify and share the examples of successfully solving emotional exhaustion caused by salespeople's surface acting.
This study aims to verify the relationship between a motivational climate and self-management perceived by athletes. 195 male and 153 female athletes participated in this study. Firstly, reliability and validity are verified for questionnaires, and descriptive statistics, one way ANOVA, and regression analysis are used. The result of the correlation analysis says that all the factors have meaningful relations among them. The analysis on the effects of the motivational climate on self-management indicates that the mastery climate perceived by the athletes has affected statically the sub-factors of self-management such as mental management, training, management, personal relationship management, life management, health management, and intrinsic behavior control. However, the competitive climate didn't help self-management. Based on the study, it was suggested that through the mastery climate, a leader should make athletes manage and control themselves in terms of conquest strategies, self-assessment, problem-solving and decision-making skills, self-control, goal setting, efforts to strengthen oneself, and plan.
Over the last few years, despite the government's ongoing efforts for cooperative relationship between large firms and small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs), their effectiveness is limited. In addition, the academic researches for addressing practical policy alternatives are also insufficient. This study aims to suggest the practical policies for cooperative relationship between large firms and SMEs. To this end, we suggest typology to know how collaboration process between large firms and SMEs for technology commercialization project with the utilization of dimensions of technology and marketing cooperaton is, and analyse the characteristics of each type, and examine the present situation of collaboration between large firms and SMEs in Korea and then finally, derive government policy guidelines. Through this research, we suggest theoretical framework to reinforce national industry competitiveness under growing global competition through suggesting how SMEs take survival basis, and also how large firms collaborate with SMEs.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting job satisfaction, job stress, turnover intention, work-family and family-work relationship of married dental hygienists with young children. Methods: 242 copies of self-reported questionnaires were analyzed. Statistical analysis of collected data was conducted using the statistical program of Stata 13.0 (StataCorp., College Station, TX, USA). Results: Turnover intention was higher when the child age was lower and the child support and parenting stress were higher. But when working hours were adjustable, the turnover intention was low. Job stress was higher as the position, monthly income and night working hours were higher. Job satisfaction was higher as night work was fewer, work time was adjustable and family life satisfaction was higher. When parenting stress was high, job satisfaction was low and job stress and turnover intention were high. Work-family relationships were more affected by lower monthly income and parents-first child caregivers. Workplace factors affecting the family life were monthly income, caregiver and number of night work. The higher the parenting stress, the greater the mutual influence between family and work life. Age, family life, parenting stress and turnover intention were identified to affect family-work relationship. Parenting stress and job stress were identified to be influential on work-family relationship. Conclusions: Married dental hygienists are leaving the clinical setting due to their marriage and childbirth, or showing the effects on family-work and work-family relationships due to parenting. Efforts should be made to efficiently utilize professional manpower and to improve the psychological and physical working environment surrounding the married dental hygienists.
Objectives: This study provides basic data for developing practical teaching methods enabling efficient execution of the dental hygiene care process. Methods: A total of 197 dental hygiene students experienced in dental hygiene care process in Gwangju and Jeonnam were surveyed from June 1 to August 30, 2019 to study their class flow, professors-student relationships, and class satisfaction level. Post survey, statistical analysis was performed using frequency analysis, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. Results: 1. Class fl ow was high in three lecturers (3.56), four hours per week (3.39), and four hours per week (3.94). Class satisfaction was high in three lecturers (3.99) and four hours per week (3.90) (p<0.05). 2. There was a positive correlation between class flow and professor-student relationship (r=0.519), class fl ow and class satisfaction (r=0.566), and professor-student relationship and class satisfaction (r=0.838) (p<0.01). 3. The factors influencing class fl ow were the number of lecturers (β=0.442), class hours per week (β=-0.397), and class satisfaction (β=0.385). Conclusions: Apart from finding ways to improve class satisfaction for class flow in the dental hygiene care process, efforts are required to increase the number of lecturers and class hours per week for efficient class management. Further research is needed to develop practical teaching methods.
The main purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of compensation on job satisfaction. The study is designed to determine whether perceived internal equity acts as a mediation role in affecting the relationship between compensation and job satisfaction. This study also aims to explore the role of supervisor support in affecting employees' perception of equity toward the compensation. A total of 157 samples was obtained for the data analysis as a quantitative approach. The results of the data analyses revealed that both extrinsic and intrinsic rewards are positively correlated with job satisfaction. The results also showed that perceived internal equity acts as a mediating role in predicting variables of compensation and job satisfaction. The supervisor support does not moderate the relationship between compensation and perceived internal equity. It is suggested that management's efforts must be made in compensation management in order to increase employees' job satisfaction and to improve employees' perception of equity.
The statistics of industrial accident reported by ministry of Employment and Labor denoted a significant increase of musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs) after 1993, and showed the higher incident rate by 71.3% over the overall worker's disorders. Also, it was expected that Korean society will become the post-aged society in 2026 with 20.8% of elderly who is over 65 years old. The reports suggest possible problems caused by the older worker known to have reduced working ability than the young counterparts. On this basis, the goal of this study was to investigate the relationship between MSDs symptoms and work ability in the shipbuilding industry. To achieve this goal, this study distributed a questionnaire for total 1,244 shipbuilding employers, and used 910 employers' reports which revealed validity for this study. The questionnaire included the MSDs symptoms report developed by the Korean Occupational Safety and Health Association(KOSHA) and the work ability index(WAI) developed by Finnish Institute of Occupational Health(FIOH). Results showed no relationship between MSDs symptoms and age, years of work and exercise. Also, the work ability was increased until 44 years old, but it was decreased after that time because of the reduced physical capacity. Meanwhile, the years of work and exercise have positive correlation with work ability. However, the results revealed significant relationships between WAI and age, years of work, task characteristics and exercise. All together, the MSDs symptoms have a close relationship with the work ability in that the work ability of workers with the MSDs symptoms was reduced. This study may suggest the needs of more efforts and attention on the MSDs prevention to increase the work ability.
This study was conducted to identify the relationship between the perceived family support and mental health of middle school students and provide basic data to develop a nursing program for prevention of mental disease and mental health promotion in adolescent. The subjects for this study were 427 students in their first, second and third year of two middle school in K city. The data were collected from December 12th to 19th, 2001. The instruments used for this study were the family support scale by Kang and the mental health assessment scale was the Symptom Check List-90-R. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, ANOVA, and Duncan test with SPSS program. The results were as follows: The mean score of the perceived family support was 42.26 and the mean score of mental health was 52.24. As a subarea of mental health was analyses, the scores of obsessive-compulsive reaction and hostility were respectively higher but the scores of phobia were lower than others. Family support was significantly different according to student's grade, religion and economic status, and educational level, the relationship between them, and living in parents. the characteristic influence on the level of mental health were sex, grade, and economic status of students and the relationship between them of parents. There was a significant correlation between the perceived family support and the level of mental health was revealed a significant correlation(r=-.35(P=0.001)). In conclusion, this study was found that family support was an important factor for promoting mental health of middle school students. In order to increase mental health of middle school students effectively, family support must be increased. Efforts to promote mental health of students are required in home and school. School authorities have to search a plans like "family support-class program" as one countermeasure to increase family support. teachers have to make educational programs to promote mental health constantly with participating parents.
As measure against the environmental pollution, maximum efforts to improve of the environmental pollution have also been made; removal of the contaminated sediments of the bay and the coastal area, monitoring of several heavy metal levels in fishes, shell fishes, sea water and sediment, and so on. The objective of this research is to investigate how much metals are included in the sea water, sediment, fishes and shell fishes in kyeongnam coastal area. Specifically, we are investigating the relationships between the metal included in fishes and sea water, and shell fishes and sediment, and heavy metals and heavy metals respectively. Heavy metal over the studied component and area, the average concentrations of Pb, Cd, Cr and Hg in sea water were 0.0029 mg/L, 0.005 mg/L, 0.0016 mg/L and ND, those of sediment were 11.9583 mg/kg, 0.2136 mg/kg, 1.9158 mg/kg and Hg 0.0108 mg/kg, those of fishes were 0.4358 mg/kg. 0.0726 mg/kg, 1.1188 mg/kg and Hg 0.0622 mg/kg, and those of shellfishes were Pb 0.6738 mg/kg, Cd 0.2223 mg/kg, Cr 0.5516 mg/kg and Hg 0.0117 mg/kg respectively. In the relationship test, Cd was significant in the relationship between fishes and sea water, and Hg was significant in the relationship between sediment and shellfishes.
This study examined the characteristics of furniture design in the early Modernism that occurred in the early 20th Century through the relationship with modern arts. The furniture design of the early Modernism was established in the early 20th Century based on the simplicity and honesty of the Art and Crafts Movement and Anti-Historicism in Art Nouveau. During this period, the necessity of mass production became critical due to the radical industrialization and new social demands. In such periodic stream, the furniture design of the early modernism pursued simplicity and geometric beauty based on functionalism. The efforts to discover the fundamental structure of furniture were intensified. It was not limited to furniture design but was also exercised in the huge periodic transformation that progressed in every field of art including architecture. The Modernism art has also been connected to Cubism and spread into an abstract direction. While questioning the potential essence and progressing the study on genuine characteristics, the Modernism art tried to return things into their substantial looks and reorganize them conceptually, rather than reproducing external objects. The furniture that was secondary to a part of architecture and interior accessory transcended its decorative purpose. It pursued the structure to follow its fundamental purpose as furniture. Such tendency corresponded to the direction that Post-Modernism followed. Likewise, both art and design had the revivable and abstract characteristics based on the identical objective in ideology. For this reason, the formative and geometric characteristics of the early modernism furniture design have a mutual relationship with modern arts. Particularly, such tendency intensified and progressed through the Bauhaus in Germany. Based on such facts, this study proved that the early Modernism furniture design in the 20th Century tended to appear in common arts including the art and design according to the social demand of the huge periodic stream. Furthermore, the ideology that was adopted in art and design, as well as its formative characteristics, was examined through the mutual relationship of modern arts and design.
