The main purpose of this research is to analyze stress, social support and coping behavior of adults based on their level of self-efficacy. A total of 899 adults (399 male; 500 female), each with a child attending either elementary and secondary school, participated in the study. The inter-rater reliability for the open-ended questionnaire utilized in the study was 93.4%, with a Kappa coefficient of .92. The range of Cronbach α for the variables measured through a quantitative method was .87~.92. The results were as follows: First, the representative responses to the question about their most painful stress experiences were, financial difficulties, child rearing and duties of workplace. The Lower Efficacy group, compared to the Upper Efficacy group, responded much more with financial difficulties related responses. There were significant differences in the level of stress symptoms according to level of self-efficacy. The Lower Efficacy group expressed stronger levels of stress symptoms when compared to the Upper Efficacy group. Second, in terms of social support, the participants responded that they received the most help from their family members, followed by none(self), and friends. When comparing the two efficacy groups, the Upper Efficacy group responded most frequently that they received social support from their family members, whereas the Lower Efficacy group indicated none. There were significant differences in the level of relational conflicts according to the level of self-efficacy. The Upper Efficacy group showed much less conflict in parent-child relations, spousal relations and relations with their boss, compared to the Lower Efficacy group. Third, for the type of social support participants received, the most frequent response was emotional support, followed by none, and advice. Relatively, when comparing the two groups with each other, the Lower Efficacy group responded more frequently with none, whereas for the Upper Efficacy group responded more frequently with advice. There were significant differences in the amount of emotional support received according to level of self-efficacy. The Upper Efficacy group received much more emotional support from their spouses and their bosses compared to the Lower Efficacy group. Fourth, the most frequently adopted coping style to stress was self-regulation, followed by direct problem solving, and nothing(none). The most frequent response for the Upper Efficacy group was direct problem solving, whereas for the Lower Efficacy group was nothing(none). There was a significant difference in coping efficiency to stress according to level of self-efficacy. The Upper Efficacy group coped more efficiently with stress than the Lower Efficacy group.
This paper examines the influence of interpersonal relationship on delinquent behavior among adolescents. The role that parent-child relationship, teacher-student relationship, and relationship with friends play on delinquent behavior is reviewed. Review of empirical studies reveal the following results. First, adolescents who perceive their parents as being hostile and rejecting are more likely to engage in delinquent behavior. Second, those adolescents with parents, who have low expectations and who are less likely pressure them to succeed academically, are more likely to engage in delinquent behavior. Third, adolescents who feel that they have been abandoned by their parents are more likely to engage in delinquent behavior. Fourth, those adolescents with low social support from parents and teachers and high social support from their friends are more likely to engage in delinquent behavior. Fifth, those students who feel hostility from their teachers, have negative relationship with teachers, and experience greater punishment are more likely to engage in delinquent behavior. The results indicate that punishment can have adverse effect on some adolescents, further damaging the teacher-student relationship. Punishment can further reinforce the existing negative cycle that can increase the likelihood of adolescents engaging in delinquent behavior. The results indicate that a lack of support from parents and teacher leads to low academic and self-regulatory efficacy, which leads to low academic performance, which can results in punishments that could further damage their relationship with their parents and teachers and bring them closer to their friends. Adolescents caught up in this negative cycle are more likely to engage in delinquent behavior. These results indicate the need to reform the relational, social, and cultural environment of adolescents who are engaged in delinquent behavior.

This article examines factors that influence health and quality of life. In addition to the symptomatology and physiological functioning, the influence of the psychological functioning and interpersonal relationship on the overall health and quality of life are also investigated. Using a case-study approach, a total of 70 patients suffering from allergy or asthma were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire developed by the present authors. It assessed the following six areas: Cause and onset of illness, psychological functioning, health management, trust, social support received and overall health and quality of life. Based on the transactional model (Bandura, 1997; Kim & Park, 2005), the results of the case studies have been integrated and divided into three aspects: (1) Cause and onset of illness that includes physiological and environment factors; (2) mediating influences that includes psychological functioning, health management, interpersonal relationship and social support received; and (3) outcome factor that includes symptomatology, health and quality of life. The psychological functioning includes self-efficacy (self-regulated efficacy, efficacy for enlisting social support, efficacy for managing the environment, and efficacy for overcoming difficulties), positive outlook, life goals, experience of stress, and proxy control. Interpersonal relationship includes trust of family members and the physician. Health management includes receiving proper health assessment, following the advice and prescription given by the physicians, control of the environment and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The results indicate that physiological, psychological, relational and environment factors interact with each other and affect individual's overall health and quality of life. Self-efficacy, social support received from family members, trust of physicians, and the health care system are key factors promoting healthy lifestyle and quality of life. The results indicate the need for further interdisciplinary, indigenous and cultural psychological research.
With the development of IT technologies, IT environment is making great change over life whole and is displacing business and business achievement systems of industry at the fast speed. The system which is proposed in this paper, supports environments to share codes, execution files and objects between project teams to maximize productivity and efficiency in web environments. Through impact assessment which is achieved at correction and development of existing programming codes by maintenance requirements, it minimizes obstacle occurrence factors and supports tracing obstacle sources. Through conversion the correction and development histories of existing sources and executable files between project teams to XML documents suitable to share in web, it stores them to relational database. In this paper, through impact assessment and change management for the correction and development of applications in the existing system development environments, we support efficient IT developments.

Open city information model can increase the understanding of the situation, enable the effective reuse of information due to access the semantic and relational conditions of objects, and support the reliable decision-making through linking with external references. The city information model focused on terrain and buildings was implemented based on the actual data. In addition, a process for flooding simulation was proposed using hydraulic analysis data and the city information model. The deaths and damages were estimated by flooding simulation. The availabilities were examined by detailed queries and responses based on model data of the city information model, hydraulic analysis data and the estimated damages.
Objectives: Chemicals derived from various environment media contaminates food across the food supply chain. In Korea, levels of contaminants in food have been sporadically measured by monitoring programs of different government agencies. There is difficulty with data compilation and integrated analysis across media. Therefore, the aim of this study was to propose an overall integrated database and analytical platform design for the 'ECO-FOOD NET (Environmental COntaminant reduction platform for FOOD through an interagency collaboration NETwork)', a tool to support the reduction of environmental contaminants in food. Methods: We developed a new data structure and standardized protocols for the compilation of integrated data. In addition, we conducted subject-oriented logical and physical relational database modeling and created the architecture design of the platform. Results: We established a standardized code system related to exposure media and route, analysis method and food matrix. In addition, we designed the seven software modules of 'About the System', 'Introduction to Interagency Work', 'Media-Chemicals Profiles', 'Method Bank', 'Monitoring Data Base', 'Integrated Media Analysis', and 'Risk-Benefit Analysis'. Conclusions: This study will contribute to decision-making as a tool for executing risk management, such as sustainable reduction policies of contaminants in food.
PACS mostly has been used in large scaled hospital due to expensive initial cost to set up the system. The network of PACS is independent of the others: network. The user's PC has to be connected physically to the network of PACS as well as the image viewer has to be installed. The web based mini-PACS can store, manage and search inexpensively a large quantity of radiologic image acquired in a hospital. The certificated user can search and diagnose the radiologic image using web browser anywhere Internet connected. The implemented Image viewer is a viewer to diagnose the radiologic image. Which support the DICOM standard and was implemented to use JAVA programming technology. The JAVA program language is cross-platform which makes easier upgrade the system than others. The image filter was added to the viewer so as to diagnose the radiologic image in detail. In order to access to the database, the user activates his web browser to specify the URL of the web based PACS. Thus, The invoked PERL script generates an HTML file, which displays a query form with two fields: Patient name and Patient ID. The user fills out the form and submits his request via the PERL script that enters the search into the relational database to determine the patient who is corresponding to the input criteria. The user selects a patient and obtains a display list of the patient's personal study and images.

Cooperative query answering is a research effort to develop a fault-tolerant and intelligent database system using the semantic knowledge base constructed from the underlying database. Such knowledge base has two aspects of usage. One is supporting the cooperative query answering Process for providing both an exact answer and neighborhood information relevant to a query. The other is supporting ongoing maintenance of the knowledge base for accommodating the changes in the knowledge content and database usage purpose. Existing studies have mostly focused on the cooperative query answering process but paid little attention on the dynamic knowledge base maintenance. This paper proposes a multi-level knowledge representation framework called Knowledge Abstraction Hierarchy (KAH) that can not only support cooperative query answering but also permit dynamic knowledge maintenance. The KAH consists of two types of knowledge abstraction hierarchies. The value abstraction hierarchy is constructed by abstract values that are hierarchically derived from specific data values in the underlying database on the basis of generalization and specialization relationships. The domain abstraction hierarchy is built on the various domains of the data values and incorporates the classification relationship between super-domains and sub-domains. On the basis of the KAH, a knowledge abstraction database is constructed on the relational data model and accommodates diverse knowledge maintenance needs and flexibly facilitates cooperative query answering. In terms of the knowledge maintenance, database operations are discussed for the cases where either the internal contents for a given KAH change or the structures of the KAH itself change. In terms of cooperative query answering, database operations are discussed for both the generalization and specialization Processes, and the conceptual query handling. A prototype system has been implemented at KAIST that demonstrates the usefulness of KAH in ordinary database application systems.

Positive affect has beneficial consequences in various life domains including social relational aspect. This study proposes that 'joy,' a highly arousing positive social emotion, promotes emotionally supportive reactions during a social interaction. In Study 1, after controlling for confounding personality characteristics (e.g., extraversion, agreeableness, adult attachment) and cognitive variables (e.g., empathy, self-esteem), positive affect predicted the amount of emotional support and enthusiasm one showed to a person who was describing a positive experience. The arousal dimension of positive emotion appeared to be the key in creating this outcome. Study 2 found that people were most likely to react in supportive ways (e.g., more laughing, emotion sharing, and active-constructive responses) to other's conversation after viewing a joy-inducing (rather than pride, awe, calm) film clip. These results partly explain why happy people are socially popular and suggest that one of the central functions of "joy" is to promote social bonding with others.

Most information providers are offering integrated retrieval service based on the bibliographic metadata and schema corresponding to each type of document which are developed in a distributed and independent way. However, it is difficult to maintain the relational consistency of those single heterogeneous databases even though they obey the metadata standard like MARC or MODS. It is the main reason that those standards are restricted to present the general property of document regardless of its type and not to applied to define the relationship of document types. Therefore, It is necessary to define a comprehensive meta model to associate the related databases in a systematic way so that the semantically common part of them can be easily shared and reused without any additional effort like conversion or mapping. In this paper, we first outline the document types for designing meta model by the empirical analysis of various data schema of main information providers. We propose then data element definition, metadata model and modularized XML DTD which support the efficient and consistent management of multiple ducument types.
