The distribution of donated blood for medical purpose is an area that presents many challenges. In order to establish a comprehensive solution, the current patterns of distribution must be reviewed and problems related to it need to be clearly understood. This paper introduces 'Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) System', as a potential solution to some of the problems which arise in the process of blood supply distribution, and a way to systematically manage the blood supply. For the various possible RFID systems, the reader and tag must be suitable for the purpose of blood distribution. A database has been designed that can recognize tags and objects in a ubiquitous RFID blood distribution system. In this paper, we design the real-time software to control the RFID reader system and transponder, using the EEPROM memory by RFID. The experimental results confirm that the transmission rate of 3.9kbps for RF is 125 KHz. The electric power usage of transponder chip is $100{\mu}W$, with the recognition distance is about 7cm range.
Currently, web applications are gaining in prevalence. In a web application, an input may not be appropriately validated, making the web application susceptible to cross-site scripting (XSS), which poses serious security problems for Internet users and websites to whom such trusted web pages belong. A taint inference is a type of information flow analysis technique that is useful in detecting XSS on the client side. However, in existing techniques, two current practical issues have yet to be handled properly. One is URL rewriting, which transforms a standard URL into a clearer and more manageable form. Another is HTML sanitization, which filters an input against blacklists or whitelists of HTML tags or attributes. In this paper, we make an analogy between the taint inference problem and the molecule sequence alignment problem in bioinformatics, and transfer two techniques related to the latter over to the former to solve the aforementioned yet-to-be-handled-properly practical issues. In particular, in our method, URL rewriting is addressed using local sequence alignment and HTML sanitization is modeled by introducing a removal gap penalty. Empirical results demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our method.

The intimate physical interaction between food algae and sacoglossan sea slug is a pertinent system to test the theory that “you are what you eat.” Some sacoglossan mollusks ingest and maintain chloroplasts that they acquire from the algae for photosynthesis. The basis of photosynthesis maintenance in these sea slugs was often explained by extensive horizontal gene transfer (HGT) from the food algae to the animal nucleus. Two large-scale expressed sequence tags databases of the green alga Bryopsis plumosa and sea slug Placida dendritica were established using 454 pyrosequencing. Comparison of the transcriptomes showed no possible case of putative HGT, except an actin gene from P. dendritica, designated as PdActin04, which showed 98.9% identity in DNA sequence with the complementary gene from B. plumosa, BpActin03. Highly conserved homologues of this actin gene were found from related green algae, but not in other photosynthetic sea slugs. Phylogenetic analysis showed incongruence between the gene and known organismal phylogenies of the two species. Our data suggest that HGT is not the primary reason underlying the maintenance of short-term kleptoplastidy in Placida dendritica.
Deschampsia antarctica is the only monocot that thrives in the tough conditions of the Antarctic region. It is an invaluable resource for the identification of genes associated with tolerance to various environmental pressures. In order to identify genes that are differentially regulated between greenhouse-grown and Antarctic field-grown plants, we initiated a detailed gene expression analysis. Antarctic plants were collected and greenhouse plants served as controls. Two different cDNA libraries were constructed with these plants. A total of 2,112 cDNA clones was sequenced and grouped into 1,199 unigene clusters consisting of 243 consensus and 956 singleton sequences. Using similarity searches against several public databases, we constructed a functional classification of the ESTs into categories such as genes related to responses to stimuli, as well as photosynthesis and metabolism. Real-time PCR analysis of various stress responsive genes revealed different patterns of regulation in the different environments, suggesting that these genes are involved in responses to specific environmental factors.

Suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) cDNA libraries of the giant tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon, were constructed. In total, 178 and 187 clones from the forward and reverse SSH libraries, respectively, of P. monodon were unidirectionally sequenced. From these, 37.1% and 53.5% Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) significantly matched known genes (E-value < 1e-04). Three isoforms of P. monodon progestin membrane receptor component 1: PM-PGMRC1-s (1980 bp), PM-PGMRC1- m (2848 bp), and PM-PGMRC1-l (2971 bp), with an identical ORF of 573 bp corresponding to a deduced polypeptide of 190 amino acids, were successfully identified by RACE-PCR. Interestingly, PMPGMRC1 showed a greater expression level in testes of juvenile than broodstock P. monodon (P < 0.05). Dopamine administration ($10^{-6}$ mol/shrimp) resulted in up-regulation of PM-PGMRC1 in testes of juveniles at 3 hrs post treatment (P < 0.05), but had no effect on PM-Dmc1 (P > 0.05).
Medicago truncatula is a diploid legume plant related to the forage crop alfalfa. Recently, it has been chosen as a model species for genomic studies due to its small genome, self-fertility, short generation time, and high transformation efficiency. M. truncatula engages in symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing soil bacterium Rhizobium meliloti. M. truncatula mutants that are defective in nodulation and developmental processes have been generated. Some of these mutants exhibited altered phenotypes in symbiotic responses such as root hair deformation, expression of nodulin genes, and calcium spiking. Thus, the genes controlling these traits are likely to encode functions that are required for Nod-factor signal transduction pathways. To facilitate genome analysis and map-based cloning of symbiotic genes, a bacterial artificial chromosome library was constructed. An efficient polymerase chain reaction-based screening of the library was devised to fasten physical mapping of specific genomic regions. As a genomics approach, comparative mapping revealed high levels of macro- and microsynteny between M. truncatula and other legume genomes. Expressed sequence tags and microarray profiles reflecting the genetic and biochemical events associated with the development and environmental interactions of M. truncatula are assembled in the databases. Together, these genomics programs will help enrich our understanding of the legume biology.

In recent years, social network related applications such as WeChat, Facebook, Twitter and so on, have attracted hundreds of millions of people to share their experience, plan or organize, and attend social events with friends. In these operations, plenty of valuable information is accumulated, which makes an innovative approach to explore users' preference and overcome challenges in traditional recommender systems. Based on the study of the existing social network recommendation methods, we find there is an abundant information that can be incorporated into probability matrix factorization (PMF) model to handle challenges such as data sparsity in many recommender systems. Therefore, the research put forward a unified social network recommendation framework that combine tags, trust between users, ratings with PMF. The uniformed method is based on three existing recommendation models (SoRecUser, SoRecItem and SoRec), and the complexity analysis indicates that our approach has good effectiveness and can be applied to large-scale datasets. Furthermore, experimental results on publicly available Last.fm dataset show that our method outperforms the existing state-of-art social network recommendation approaches, measured by MAE and MRSE in different data sparse conditions.
