In this study, the behavior of the number of anchorage bolts on the glass-fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates adhered to the surfaces of reinforcing concrete (RC) T-beams was investigated analytically. The analytical results were compared to the test results in term of shear strength, and midpoint displacement of the beam. The modelling of the beams was conducted in ABAQUS/CAE finite element software. The Concrete Damaged Plasticity (CDP) model was used for concrete material modeling, and Classical Metal Plasticity (CMP) model was used for reinforcement material modelling. Model-1 was the reference specimen with enough sufficient shear reinforcement, and Model-2 was the reference specimen having low shear reinforcement. Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5 were the specimens with lower shear reinforcement. These models consist of a single variable which was the number of anchorage bolts implemented to the GFRP plates. The anchorage bolts of 2, 3, and 4 were mutually mounted on each GFRP plates through the beam surfaces for Model-3, Model-4, and Model-5, respectively. It was found that Model-1, Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5 provided results approximately equal to the test results. The results show that the shear strength of the beams increased with increasing of anchorage numbers. While close results were obtained for Model-1, Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5, in Model-2, the rate of increase of displacement was higher than the increase of load rate. It was seen, finite element based ABAQUS program is inadequate in the modeling of the reinforced concrete specimens under shear force.

The aim of this study is to assess the seismic performance of hollow reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete bridge columns, and to provide data for developing improved seismic design criteria. By using a sophisticated nonlinear finite element analysis program, the accuracy and objectivity of the assessment process can be enhanced. A computer program, RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), is used to analyze reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structures. Tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and models of reinforcing and prestressing steel were used to account for the material nonlinearity of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete. The smeared crack approach was incorporated. The proposed numerical method for the seismic performance assessment of hollow reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete bridge columns is verified by comparing it with the reliable experimental results. Additionally, the studies and discussions presented in this investigation provide an insight into the key behavioral aspects of hollow reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete bridge columns.

In recent years, the research and development about the new material proceed rapidly and actively in the building industry. As building structures become bigger, higher and more specialized, so does the demand for material with higher strength. In the future, we will need to research repair and rehabilitation to make high strength concrete mixed steel fibrous building safe. The carbon fiber reinforced plastic bonding method is widely used in reinforcing the existing concrete structure among the various methods. The repair of initiate loaded reinforced high-strength concrete beams mixed steel fibrous with epoxy bonded Carbon Fiber Sheets(CFS) was investigated experimentally. The CFS thickness and length were varied to assess the peel failure at the curtailment of CFS, The behaviour of the repaired beams was represented by load-longitudinal steel strain relation and failure modes were discussed. The test results indicate that CFS is very effective for strengthening the demand beams and controlling deflections of reinforced high strength concrete beams mixed steel fibrous happen diagonal crack, the increase in the number of CFS layers over two layers didn't effect the increase in the strength of beams.

In this paper, the simulation and modeling of a polyethylene/clay nanocomposite were undertaken to predict the nanocomposite's dielectric behavior and to help design a nanocomposite material with optimum electrical properties for electrotechnical or electronic applications. A 3-D simulation model using the finite elements method was employed in order to study the effective permittivity and electric field distribution of two-phase nanocomposite materials for ordered and random distributions of inclusions in a low-loss host matrix such as polyethylene. The influence of the dispersion of reinforcing particles, and of the permittivity and radius of the inclusions, was analysed. The simulation results were compared with alternative, known theoretical solutions obtained from classical models, and were found to be in good agreement. The numerical results also indicate that for fixed volume fractions of nanoparticles the effective permittivity of the mixture, for ordered and random distributions, does not vary with the degree of dispersion. The variation of the effective permittivity with the particle radius is shown, using numerical data, to agree with the analytical modules.
Flash butt welding is applied in many industries. New technology was developed recently for joining billets which called "EBROS (Endless Bar Rolling System)". After reheating billets in furnace, two billets were joined using flash butt welding. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of alloying elements on mechanical properties of flash butt welded zone of hot rolled steel bar. The tensile properties on welded zone of Fe-Mn steel and Fe-Mn-V steel were dropped as compared with non-welded zone. Fe-Mn-Nb steel was opposed to the former. It was found that the white band at the welded zone had high ferrite volume fraction and large ferrite grain size. The vertical white band between flash butt welded billets was transformed into an arrowhead it of steel bar. According to this band, softening has been appeared. There was a interesting phenomenon with HAZ of Fe-Mn-Nb Steel, 40nm scale of particles were observed and hardness of HAZ was higher than non-welded zone.

The purpose of this study is to assess the seismic performance of reinforced concrete bridges using nonlinear finite element analysis. The accuracy and objectivity of the assessment process may be enhanced by the use of sophisticated nonlinear finite element analysis program. A computer program, named RCAHEST (Reinforced Concrete Analysis in Higher Evaluation System Technology), for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures was used. Material nonlinearity is taken into account by comprising tensile, compressive and shear models of cracked concrete and a model of reinforcing steel. The smeared crack approach is incorporated. The proposed numerical method is applied to reinforced concrete bridges and compared.
The objective of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of rotating orthotropic axes model in analyzing reinforced concrete planar members under cyclic as well as monotonic loading. The structural members to be addressed are moderately reinforced beams, columns, beam-column joints, and shear walls, whose failure occurs due to compressive crushing after extensive crack propagation, The rotating orthotropic axes model which is usually used for monotonic loading is developed for cyclic loading. With the existing cyclic material models of reinforcing steel and bond-slip, this material model is used for the finite element analysis. For monotonic loading, the analytical results of the rotating orthotropic axes model are compared with reinforced concrete beams which have brittle failure. For Shear wall members under cyclic loading, the analyses are compared with the experiments for the ultimate load capacity, nonlinear deformation, and pinching effect due to crack opening and closing.

In this study, a column member of an existing architecture finished with gypsum board was assumed to examine fire resistance characteristics according to the type and thickness of finishing material. All specimens showed spalling to the reinforcing part after fire resistance test. For temperature characteristics, rapid temperature increase of 100${\sim}$200 $^{\circ}C$ was shown between 35 ${\sim}$ 60 minutes in the sequence of 9.5 T, 9.5 T (2 pieces), 12.5 T, 15 T and fire resistant 12.5 T. The analysis suggested that finishing materials with better fire resistance are necessary.

A method of analysis for the material and geometric nonlinear analysis of planar prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridges including the time-dependent effects due to load history, creep, shrinkage, aging of concrete and relaxation of prestress is described. The analysis procedure, based on the finite element method, is capable of predicting the response of these structures through elastic, cracking, inelastic and ultimate ranges. The nonlinear formulation for the description of motion is based on the updated Lagrangian approach. To account for the material nonlinearity, nonlinear stress-strain relationship and cracking of concrete, nonlinear stress-strain relationships of reinforcing steel, prestressing steel, and cable, including load reversal are given. Results from a numerical examples on ultimate analyses of cable-stayed bridges are presented to illustrate the analysis method.
Mechanical properties of nonwoven alfa fiber based reinforced biocomposite were evaluated to assess the possibility of using it as a new material in engineering applications such as orthopedic application. Samples were fabricated by needle punching, thermal bonding and Hydroentanglement, by blending alfa fibers with wool fibers or Polypropylene fibers. The mechanical properties were tested and showed that the nonwoven NW3 (alfa fiber/PP/PLA, with hydroentanglement) is the best. It has a value of stress at break of 1.94 MPa, a strain of 54.2% and a young's module of 7.95 MPa, in a production normal direction. A biocomposite has been made with NW3 mixed with PMMA matrix. The use of nonwoven based alfa fiber in reinforcing the composite material increases its rigidity and the tensile strength; the elongation was found to be 1.53%, the Young's Module of 1.79 GPa and the tensile at break of 15.06 MPa. Results indicated that alfa fibres are of interest for low-cost engineering applications and can compete with glass fibres in orthopedic application.
