If reinforced concrete beam exists crack, ultimate shear transfer strength and shear hardness of section with crack substantially decrease. In this study , five model beams were designed for the objective of clarfying contributions of three shear resistant elements : the compression zone of concrete, dowel action of tension reinforcement, aggregate interlock across cracks, The shear force carried by each resistant element was calculated from the detailed strain data on the contributions to the shear capacity of beams of the shear forces carried by the other three resistant element. The test result follows : 1) Compression zone of concrete (C)-56.2%, 2) Dowel action of tension reinforcement (D)-18.0%, 3)Aggregate Interlock(A)-25.8%.
Reinforced concrete is in general known as high durability construction material under normal environments due to strong alkalinity of cement. Marine and harbour concrete in the tidal and the splash zone at seashore are exposed to cyclic wet and dry saltwaters which cause to accelerate corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete. If corrosion resistance of concrete gets to weaken due to carbonations and cracks in cover concrete, furthermore, concrete durability rapidly decreases by corrosion of reinforcement steel embedded in concrete. The objective of this study is to develop appropriate corrosion protection systems so as to enhance the durability of concrete by controlling the cover depth of concrete and by using corrosion inhibitors as concrete admixtures.
I-section prestressed concrete(I-PC) beam crack due to low tensile strength, may decrease rigidity and structural performance by excessive deflection. In an effort to this problem, in this research, I-section prestressed dual concrete(I-PDC) beam has been proposed, consisting of normal strength concrete in compression zone, and high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete(HPSFRC) with a bottom flange depth in tensile zone. Crack formation and its propagation are controlled by the HPSFRC in I-PDC beam. The initial cracking and service limit loads are increased along with the load carrying capacity and flexural stiffness.
Corrosion is very serious problem in RC structure under ocean environment. There is no enough experiment information using the reinforced geo polymer concrete applied by electo chemical protection system. Three condition, such as tidal zone, submerged zone and crack were simulated to geo polymer specimen. Corrosion rate and natural electrode potential were measured through accelerated test. Anti corrosion property of geo polymer was better than OPC regardless of specimen condition and applied time.

The microstructure and mechanical property of the Ni and Ni-Cr porous metal reinforced AC4C matrix composites fabricated by squeeze casting were investigated. In this study Ni, Ni-Cr porous metals which are estimated to be easy to fabricate by squeeze casting are used as strengtheners for composite materials. As a matrix material, Al-7wt.%Si-0.3wt.%Mg(AC4C) has been used. In case of Ni/AC4C and Ni-Cr/AC4C composite, $750^{\circ}C$ melt temperature and minimum 25MPa squeezing pressure are needed to produce sound composite materials. The observation of interfacial reaction zone at various heat treatment condition shows that atsolutionizing temperature of above $520^{\circ}C$, the interfacial reaction zone increases proportionally with heat treatment time and the reaction products formed by interfacial reactions are mainly composed by $Al_{3}Ni$ and $Al_{3}Ni_{2}$ phases.

In this study, cyclic triaxial tests were carried out with the coarse granular materials used in Korean railway infrastructure (reinforced trackbed, gravel of transition zone, upper subgrade of railway) and Young's modulus for the target materials in small strain level were suggested. And the result of elastic modulus suggested in this study is expected to be effectively applied to dynamic analysis of the railway embankment structure using similar material, since the grain size distributions and unit weight of the material tested in this study are specified in Korean Railway Design Criteria.
An enhanced continuum model for the size dependent strengthening of particle reinforced composites is presented. The model accounts explicitly for the enhanced strength in a discretely defined "punched zone" around the particle in a metal matrix composite as a result of geometrically necessary dislocations developed through a CTE mismatch. The size of the punched zone presents an intrinsic length scale, and this results in the size dependence of the overall behavior of the composite. Results show that predicted 0.2% offset yield stresses are increasing with smaller inclusions and larger volume fractions and this length-scale effect on the enhanced strength can be observed by explicitly including GND region around the particle.
A theoretical model was developed to predict the shear strength of slender reinforced concrete beams. The shear force applied to a cross-section of the beam was assumed to be resisted primarily by the compressive zone of intact concrete rather than by the tensile zone. The shear capacity of the cross section was defined based on the material failure criteria of concrete: failure controlled by compression and failure controlled by tension. In the evaluation of the shear capacity, interaction with the normal stresses developed by the flexural moment in the cross section was considered. In the proposed strength model, the shear strength of the beam and the location of the critical section were determined at the intersection between the shear capacity and shear demand curves. The proposed strength model was verified by the comparisons to prior experimental results.
Bolted connections are used commonly in the precast reinforced concrete structures. In such structures, to perform structural analysis, behaviour of connections must be determined. In this study, elastic rotation stiffness of semi-rigid bolted beam connections, applied in industrial precast structures, are determined by finite element methods. The results obtained from numerical solutions are compared with an experimental study carried out for the same connections. Furthermore, stress distributions of the connection zone are determined and a reinforcement scheme is proposed. Thus, a more appropriate reinforcement arrangement for the connection zone is enabled. The connection joint of the prefabricated frame is described as rigid, hinged or elastic, and a static analysis of the frame system is performed for each case. Values of bending moments and displacements obtained from the three solutions are compared and the effects of elastic connection are discussed.
