Reinforced concrete buildings with shearwalls are very efficient to resist earthquake disturbances. In general, reinforced concrete frames are governed by flexure and shearwalls are governed by shear. If a structure included both frames and shearwalls, it is generally governed by shearwalls. However, the ductility of ordinary reinforced concrete is very limited. To improve the ductility, a series of tests on framed shearwalls made of corrugated steel was performed previously and the experimental results were compared with ordinary reinforced concrete frames and shearwalls. It was found that ductility of framed shearwalls could be greatly improved if the thickness of the corrugated steel wall is appropriate to the surrounding reinforced concrete frame. In this paper, an analytical model is developed to predict the horizontal load-displacement relationship of hybrid reinforced concrete frame-steel wall systems according to the analogy of truss models. This analytical model is based on equilibrium and compatibility conditions as well as constitutive laws of corrugated steel. The analytical predictions are compared with the results of tests reported in the previous paper. It is found that proposed analytical model can predict the test results with acceptable accuracy.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the method of retrofitting flexural strength and the flexural performance of retrofitted shear walls. There are various ways to reinforce the flexural strength of reinforced concrete shear wall structural systems that have already been built, in the case of that, the external force is increased, and the internal force is insufficient. However, there are various problems, such as excessive flexural stiffness after reinforcement and increasing the thickness and length of the wall. We have developed a retrofit method to solve these problems. The wall end is excavated to place the required vertical rebars, and concrete is poured after placing rebars. This is the same concept as creating wall end boundary elements later on. We also studied the anchorage method of reinforcement and the interaction method between the retrofitting end and the existing wall. The flexural test results for the reinforced concrete shear wall using the studied retrofit method can be predicted according to the sectional analysis and FEM analysis, and there are differences in the plastic hinge length, crack propagation, stiffness degradation and energy dissipation due to the bending depending on the vertical rebar ratio of wall end.
This paper aims to investigate vibration frequency decrease (vibration period elongation) of reinforced concrete (RC) structure with unreinforced infill wall and reinforced infill wall exposed to progressively increased artificial earthquake load on shaking table. For this purpose, two shaking table experiments were selected as a case study. Shaking table experiments were carried on 1:1 scaled prototype one bay one storey RC structure with infill walls. The purpose of this shaking table experiment sequence is to assess local behavior and progressive collapse mechanism. Frequency decrease and eigen-vector evolution are directly related to in-plane and out-of-plane bearing capacities of infill wall enclosure with reinforced concrete frame. Firstly, frequency decrease-damage relationship was evaluated on the base of experiment results. Then, frequency decrease and stiffness degradation were evaluated with applied Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) by considering strength deterioration. Lastly, eigenvector evolution-local damage and eigenvector evolution-frequency decrease relationship was investigated. Five modes were considered while evaluating damage and frequency decrease of the tested specimens. The relationship between frequency decrease, stiffness degradation and damage level were presented while comparing with Unreinforced Brick Infill (URB) and Reinforced Infill wall with Bed Joint Reinforcement (BJR) on the base of natural vibration frequency.

Main objective of this study is to examine the hysteretic behaviors and to evaluate the capacity of precast concrete (PC) large panel structures simulated from the prototype of 15-story building, Two 1/2 scaled precast concrete wall specimens and one monolithic reinforced concrete specimen were designed and tested under the cyclic loading conditions. The main parameter of test specimens in PC large panel structure is the type of details for vertical continuity of vertical steel in horizontal joint. Also the behaviors of PC large panel structures are compared with that of monolithic reinforcement concrete wall structure. From the results, the stiffness and energy dissipation ratio of the precast concrete specimens are shown little bit lower than those of monolithic reinforced concrete specimen. In the PC large panel structures, the specimen connected vertically by welding (strong connection) showed higher strength than that of the specimen connected vertically by joint box. However the failure pattern of the former showed more brittle than that of the latter due to the diagonal compressive failure of wall panels.

The aim of Cast-In-Place(CIP) method is to upgrade the strength, ductility and stiffness of the structure to the required level. The main objective of this research is to investigate the shear and the flexural strength of reinforced concrete frames infilled with CIP reinforced concrete wall. For this three 1/3 scale, one-bay, one story reinforced concrete infill wall were tested under reversed cyclic loading simulating the seismic effect. Results of tests of CIP shear wall were reviewed to evaluate the current design provisions and to establish the feasible retrofitting method.
The post - fire investigation is conducted on a fire-affected reinforced concrete shear wall building to ascertain the level of its strength degradation due to the fire incident. Fire incident took place in a three-storey building made of reinforced concrete shear wall and roof with operating floors made of steel beams and chequered plates. The usage of the building is to handle explosives. Elevated temperature during the fire is estimated to be $350^{\circ}C$ based on visual inspection. Destructive (core extraction) and non-destructive (rebound hammer and ultrasonic pulse velocity) tests are conducted to evaluate the concrete strength. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) are used for analyzing micro structural changes of the concrete due to fire. Tests are conducted for concrete walls and roof slab on both burnt and unburnt locations. The analysis of test results reveals no significant degradation of the building after the fire which signifies that the structure can be used with full expectancy of performance for the remaining service life. This document can be used as a reference for future forensic investigations of similar fire affected concrete structures.
As the main lateral load resisting system in high-rise reinforced concrete structures, the mechanical performance of shear wall has a significant impact on the structure, especially for high-rise buildings. Steel corrosion has been recognized as an important factor affecting the mechanical performance and durability of the reinforced concrete structures. To investigate the effect on the seismic behaviour of corroded reinforced concrete shear wall induced by corrosion, analytical investigations and simulations were done to observe the effect of corrosion on the ultimate seismic capacity and drift capacity of shear walls. To ensure the accuracy of the simulation software, several validations were made using both non-corroded and corroded reinforced concrete shear walls based on some test results in previous literature. Thereafter, a parametric study, including 200 FE models, was done to study the influence of some critical parameters on corroded structural shear walls with boundary element. These parameters include corrosion levels, axial force ratio, aspect ratio, and concrete compressive strength. The results obtained would then be used to propose equations to predict the seismic resistance and drift capacity of shear walls with various corrosion levels.
Currently, many studies are underway at home and abroad on the seismic performance evaluation and dry construction method of the masonry structure. In this study, a dry stack masonry wall system without mortar using concrete blocks is proposed, and investigate the seismic performance of dry filling wall frames through experimental studies. First, two types of standard blocks and key blocks were designed to assemble dry walls of concrete blocks. And then, three types of experiments were manufactured, including pure frame, 1/2 height filling wall frame, and full height filling wall frame, and cyclic load experiments in horizontal direction were performed to analyze crack patterns, load displacement history, rebar deformation yield, effective stiffness change, displacement ductility, and energy dissipation capacity. According to the experimental results, the full height filling wall frame had the largest horizontal resistance against the earthquake load and showed a high energy dissipation capacity. However, the 1/2 height filling wall frame requires attention because the filling wall constrains the effective span of the column, limiting the horizontal displacement of the frame. In addition, the concrete block was firmly assembled in the vertical direction of the wall as the horizontal movement between the concrete blocks was allowed within installation margin, and there was no dropping of the assembled concrete block.

Although infilled wall considered as a non-structural element, the infilled applied in reinforced concrete frame structural systems represents an important element influencing the behaviour and the stability of a structure under seismic effect. This research is performed an experimental investigation of gravity-load designed single-stroy, single-bay, low-rise nonseismic moment-resisting reinforced concrete frame 2 dimension specimens to evaluate the effect of seismic capacity. For pseudo static test, it was manufactured one half scale specimens of two types (Bare Frame, Infilled Frame) based on typical building. The results of these experiments provided regarding the global as well as the local responses of 1) Crack pattern and failure modes, 2) Stiffness, strength.

In many other countries framed structures with inadequate lateral strength and stiffness have been strengthened by providing reinforced concrete infilled wall. There is a general agreement among researchers those infilled walls have 3-5times greater lateral strength compared with bare frame. The main objective of this research is to investigate the behavior and strength of reinforced concrete frames infilled with concrete block and cast-in-place reinforced concrete panels used for strengthening the structure against seismic action. For this purpose three 1/3 scale, one-bay, one-story reinforced concrete infilled frames were tested under reversed cyclic loading simulating the seismic effect. The results indicate that infilled walls increase both strength and stiffness significantly under lateral loads. Especially Strength capacity and initial stiffness of CIP infilled wall increased 3.8 times and 6.6 times higher than lightly reinforced concrete frame.
