Well planned rehabilitation order of pipes is essential for efficient maintenance and management of Water Distribution Systems. In this study, not only deterioration rate of pipes but also structural and nonstructural failure which causes abnormal condition of WDS is considered to determine rehabilitation order. Probabilistic Neural Network is used for calculating deterioration rate at present and the importance of pipes is computed under structural and nonstructural failure by using Pipe by Pipe Failure Analysis and Effect Index. Utopian Approach, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making methods, is used for assessment of final rehabilitation order based on distance measure between utopian point and alternative one. Developed model in this study shows that it gives more reliable results than existing methods considering hydraulic relative importance does in application to real networks. In this point, the newly developed model, which gives advantages over existing models, can make a credible decision and simple application.

In this study, in order to quantitatively confirm walking rehabilitation degree, we analyzed EMG pattern simulated abnormal gait and normal gait by applying a curve fitting. We calculated the suitable high-order function for EMG signal, and classified them into 5 groups by using cluster analysis. Depending on the distance from normal pattern group, we listed the pattern group and then the distribution of each variables were confirmed. The amplitude-decreased pattern was the most similar to the normal pattern, but the reversed pattern showed the lowest similarity. Due to the smaller overlapping range, the distribution of the groups were possible to classify using the value of variable. The standard deviation of each term coefficient was compared to indicate the quantitative rehabilitation extent, and the higher value was confirmed as the pattern is close to the normal pattern. Consequently, the representation of quantitative rehabilitation extent is expected to contribute to the more effective rehabilitation method study.
Stroke is known as a detrimental disease that leaves serious sequelae. The stroke patients suffer from limitations of physical and social activities. The patients try to adapt themselves to the limitations in order to achieve rehabilitation. This study was performed to clarify the lived experience of rehabilitation from the stroke patients. In collecting data for this study, in-depth personal interviews were made by a researcher from February to April in 2001 at rehabilitation clinics and physical therapy centers locate in Iksan city. The methodological approach was van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological methodology in order to understand the meaning and nature of stroke patients' experiences in rehabilitating their physical limitations. Collected data were analyzed with phenomenological way of study that was develope by van Manen. The 8 patients who agreed to participate in this research were inter viewed by researcher under the private and comfortable environment. Personal interviews were done three or five times per each patients and each interview took 70 to 90 minutes. The statements were analyzed and finally revealed three essential themes : Theme 1 - Desperateness to achieve freedom again Theme 2 - Seizing hope of recovering Theme 3 - Seeking support from family members, relatives and friends Based on these themes, stroke patients' rehabilitation experience are described as following. The stroke patients have strong desire to achieve freedom again in order to escape from social isolation. The stroke patients want to go back to the state of their previous health state. The stroke patients strongly try to do anything for their recovering and also to have positive thinking. In the other hand, they feel pity for themselves through desperation, fear, sorrow, and self-pity. The stroke patients have dissatisfaction about neighbors' rumor and attitude toward themselves. The stroke patients have experiences to rely on neighbors' support seeking a warm word of consolation. This research showed us that van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological methodology leads us to understand stroke patients' rehabilitation process more comprehensibly. Based on this research, it is suggested that further studies provide a foundation for the development of a rehabilitation theory for Korean stroke patients.
Purpose: The goal of this study was to define and clarify the concept of 'rehabilitation' of stroke patients in the elderly. Method: For analyzing the concept of rehabilitation, this study used the hybrid model, which involves an in depth interview six stroke patients. Result: The concept of rehabilitation of patients with a stroke condition can be categorized with two dimensions; overcoming, new recovery aspects. Besides, three attributes and twelve indicators were analyzed. The concept of rehabilitation of patients with a stroke condition can be expressed as one of the following processes; It can be said that it is a process of accepting and overcoming one's physical limitations in order to overcome, and to grow resilience by making a leap from crisis to recovery with inner enforcement in dimension of new recovery. Conclusion: The rehabilitation is important for stroke conditioned patients in order to control their disease in the long term. The attributes and indicators drawn by this study could be used for tool development and useful resources of rehabilitation competence for stroke conditioned patients.
Purpose: For patients with CNS injury who are restricted in the use of public transportation, car driving means more than simple movements and is essential for their independent lives, such as participation in society and returning to jobs. Therefore, in order to enhance the quality of life of disabled persons, their high perception and necessity of driving rehabilitation are required. The purpose of this study is to determine the perception and necessity of driver rehabilitation in patients with CNS injury. Methods: In order to survey the perception of patients with CNS injury and necessity of driving rehabilitation, questionnaires were distributed to patients with CNS injury. Questionnaires were composed of demographic characteristics, disability related characteristics, and driver's license related characteristics. Results: Our results showed that the number of driving participants with a driver's license for the disabled was significantly higher than that for non- driving participants with a previous general driver's license in the perception of driving rehabilitation. Conclusion: We suggest that driving rehabilitation for patients with CNS injury should be supported in terms of evaluation and treatment.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the knowledge and learning needs on cardiac rehabilitation of coronary artery bypass graft(CABG) patients. Method: The subjects consisted of 100 CABG patients at A hospital in Seoul. Data were collected by the two different kind of questionnaires which measure knowledge and learning needs on cardiac rehabilitation of CABG patients. The subjects responded the questionnaire on knowledge before CABG and that on learning needs before their discharge. Result: The mean score of knowledge on cardiac rehabilitation was 68.54. Knowledge on risk factor, nature of disease, diet, daily activity, medication, post operative care were great in order. The mean score of learning needs on cardiac rehabilitation was 4.28. Learning needs on diet, medication, nature of disease, post operative care, daily activity, risk factor were great in order. There were significant differences in knowledge according to occupation, economic status and family history(p=.021, p=.017, p=.023). There was a positive correlation between knowledge and learning needs(r=.3009, p=.002). Conclusion: Level of knowledge on cardiac rehabilitation of CABG patients is low and knowledge on postoperative care is the lowest, and learning needs are great in ail categories.

The main objective of sewer rehabilitation is to improve its function while eliminating inflow/infiltration (I/I). If we can identify the amount of I/I for an individual pipe, it is possible to estimate the I/Is of sub-areas clearly. However, in real, the amount of I/I for an individual pipe is almost impossible to be obtained due to the limitation of cost and time. In this study, I/I occurrence of each sewer pipe is estimated using AHP (Analytic Hierarch Process) and RPDM (Rehabilitation Priority Decision Model for sewer system) was developed using the estimated I/I of each pipe to perform the efficient sewer rehabilitation. Based on the determined amount of I/I for an individual pipe, the RPDM determines the optimal rehabilitation priority (ORP) using a genetic algorithm for sub-areas in term of minimizing the amount of I/I occurring while the rehabilitation process is performed. The benefit obtained by implementing the ORP for rehabilitation of sub-areas is estimated by the only waste water treatment cost (WWTC) of I/I which occurs during the sewer rehabilitation period. The results of the ORP were compared with those of a numerical weighting method (NWM) which is the decision method for the rehabilitation priority in the general sewer rehabilitation practices and the worst order which are other methods to determine the rehabilitation order of sub-areas in field. The ORP reduced the WWTC by 22% compared to the NWM and by 40% compared to the worst order.

For the self-directed rehabilitation of upper extremity hemiplegia patients, in this paper we propose an interface method capable of doing bilateral exercises in rehabilitation robotics. This is a method for estimating information of movements from the unaffected-side, and projects it to the affected-side in order. That the affected-side is followed the movements of the unaffected-side. For estimation of the unaffected-side movements information, gyro sensor data and acceleration sensor data were fused. In order to improve the measurement error in data fusion, a HDR filter and a complementary filter were applied. Estimated motion information is derived the one side of the drive input of rehabilitation robot. In order to validate the proposed method, experimental equipment is designed to be similar to the body's joints. The verification was performed by comparing the estimation angle data from inertial sensors and the encoder data which were attached to the mechanism.
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze domestic and foreign studies using virtual reality or metaverse for exercise rehabilitation in order to help the disabled or elderly patients with exercise rehabilitation, and suggest a method for using metaverse for exercise rehabilitation. Method: In this study, after analyzing and discussing various information related to the metaverse and exercise rehabilitation through electronic search of recently published papers, academic journals, books, and internet websites, the exercise rehabilitation plan using the metaverse was proposed. Results: In the case of domestic research, the diversity of virtual reality application technology for the rehabilitation of disabled and elderly patients was not secured, but recently, virtual reality or metaverse-related technologies were developed and specialized in a form suitable for exercise rehabilitation. In the case of overseas studies, it was analyzed that exercise rehabilitation using virtual reality and metaverse games for the rehabilitation of disabled and elderly patients can help improve brain, physical ability, and anti-aging by activating the body and mind. Conclusion: Smart metaverse health care is actively introduced to exercise rehabilitation, metaverse telemedicine business is applied to exercise rehabilitation programs, and digital twin games and exercise rehabilitation programs developed by metaverse related companies take into account the characteristics of disabled and elderly patients. If customized smart metaverse healthcare is used for exercise rehabilitation, it is analyzed that it can lead this field.
This study evaluated the community-based rehabilitation services provided by the Wonju Public Health Center from Jan. 2000 to Dec. 2002. Ninety-four persons with disabilities dwelling in the community participated and the surveys were completed in an interview during home visits. The respondents' demographic, socio-economic, and medical characteristics, rehabilitation service received, willingness to receive home-visit rehabilitation services, and satisfaction with the rehabilitation services were analyzed by frequency and percentage. A Likert scoring system consisting of five agreement-disagreement categories was applied to each item, consisting of Very Satisfied, Satisfied, So-So, Poorly Satisfied, and Very Poorly Satisfied. The major findings were as follows: 1) The rehabilitation services used included medical rehabilitation (26.9%), followed by social assistance (23.5%), diagnosis by a physician at home (17.3%), medical examination (12.3%), housekeeping services (6.2%), and vocational and educational rehabilitation (3.5%). 2) Of the medical services, the respondents desired physical therapy at home and free rental of rehabilitation equipment, such as wheelchairs, canes, walkers, the most, followed by home visit occupational therapy, nursing services, and oriental medicine service in descending order. 3) Some of the respondents expressed so-so satisfaction (50.0%) or dissatisfaction (16.9%) with the rehabilitation services provided by the Wonju Public Health Center. These findings should prove useful when planning or extending community-based rehabilitation programs for the homebound disabled in the community.
