  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify influencing factors on rehabilitation adherence in stroke patients. Methods: This study was a descriptive survey. A structured questionnaire was used for face-to-face interviews with a convenient sample of 192 subjects, who were admitted in 5 rehabilitation hospitals located in G metropolitan city. Results: The score of rehabilitation motivation in the subjects was a mean of $2.04{\pm}0.35$, self-efficacy $6.22{\pm}2.32$, family support $3.40{\pm}0.82$ and rehabilitation adherence $3.08{\pm}0.41$. The rehabilitation adherence was a statistically significant difference according to the education level (F= 3.40, p= .035), marital status (F= 4.04, p= .019), number of personal insurance policies (K= 9.80, p= .020), location of paresis (F= 2.72, p= .046), and status of current smoking (M = 657.00, p= .001). There was significant correlation among degree of rehabilitation adherence, rehabilitation motivation (r= .30, p< .001), self-efficacy (r= .14, p= .046) and family support (r= .18, p= .011). Rehabilitation motivation (${\beta}=0.19$, p= .007), self-efficacy (${\beta}=0.14$, p= .035), marital status (${\beta}=0.14$, p= .038), number of personal insurance policies (${\beta}=-0.15$, p= .045) and location of paresis(${\beta}=-0.15$, p= .028) were identified as significant predictors. This model explained 22.6% of variance in rehabilitation adherence (F= 5.92, p< .001). Conclusion: There is a need to develop an effective intervention for rehabilitation adherence improvement considering the identified variables in this study.

The data were collected 188 nurses and 21 doctors who worked for disabled patients in the rehabilitation hospital during months of June, 2004 and August, 2005. Results: 98.4% of nurse and 61.9% of doctors agreed at opening of RNP course. The major role of RNP expected by nurses were educator, counsellor and case manager. The major role of RNP expected by doctors were direct care, self care promoter & exercise and emotional care. There was a significant difference about the need for opening of RNP course and major role and function of RNP between the group of nurses and doctors. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the need for opening of RNP was identified and the major role of RNP was educator, counsellor, case manager and direct care. So there is a need for further research about major role of RNP related to various setting including rehabilitation hospital, nursing home, home care etc.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of an individualized cardiac rehabilitation education program on knowledge about coronary artery disease (CAD), compliance of sick role and vascular health status in patients with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: Quasi-experimental design-based nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was employed. Using convenience sampling, data were collected from 60 patients who underwent PCI at S Hospital in S City from September 2014 to February 2015. For examining the effects of an individualized cardiac rehabilitation education program, knowledge about CAD, compliance of sick role and vascular health status were measured. Results: The experimental group showed statistically significant differences in knowledge about CAD (t=24.21, p<.001), compliance with sick role (t=20.81, p<.001) and vascular health status (t=15.07, p<.001) compared to the control group. Conclusion: The individualized cardiac rehabilitation education program is effective in improving knowledge about CAD, compliance of sick role and vascular health status in patients who underwent PCI. Based on the findings of this study, nursing intervention programs focusing on individualized approach will be useful for patients undergoing PCI.

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a rehabilitation program on hope and self-efficacy in a sample of homeless adolescent substance abusers at a halfway house in Seoul, Korea. Methods. Five residents of a halfway house were provided with a 16-week rehabilitation program based on a cognitive-behavioral approach. To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, this study used a single-case experimental design with the variables - hope and self-efficacy - being measured at pre-, post-, and follow-up tests. Results. While three participants showed considerable positive changes in hope and self-efficacy after the program, two participants did not show any positive changes. Despite this lack of consistent patterns in the effectiveness of the rehabilitation program, there was a qualitative change in social status (such as academic and work status) for the participants at the follow-up test. Conclusion. A rehabilitation program based on a cognitive-behavioral approach may improve the hope and self-efficacy of homeless adolescent substance abusers at a halfway house and help them to reintegrate into society.

Methods: The participants were 12 mothers with premature children who had received rehabilitation therapy for over 1 year. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted from July to August 2017. The data were analyzed through the phenomenological research method. Results: The participants' experience was structured into five thematic clusters: 'Regret and guilt that premature birth led to rehabilitation therapy', 'Burden of life in an endless tunnel', 'Changes in personal relationships surrounding me and my child', 'Meaning of new life through my child', and 'Desire to expand the rehabilitation of premature infants'. Conclusion: The results of this study will be helpful for developing family-centered care programs for premature infants at high risk of developmental disorders.

  • Purpose: This study is aimed to analyze the trend of research on pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), and to suggest a direction for future research of pulmonary rehabilitation of COPD. Method: A total of 39 studies published from 1991 to 2002 were examined according to the year of publication, type of journal, characteristics of patients, rehabilitation program, research design, and instruments and research findings. Results: 1) The number of studies related to pulmonary rehabilitation of COPD patients has rapidly increased since 1996's (87.18%) 2) There were 10 studies published in the chest. There were 6 studies published in domestic journals and 33 studies published in international journals. 3) The samples in the studies were mostly outpatients whose lung function was moderate. 4) The total period of the pulmonary rehabilitation program shown in the literature was 5 to 12 weeks. The programs included exercise interventions, educational interventions and psychosocial interventions. 5) The outcomes of the pulmonary rehabilitation were measured with lung function, 6-minute walk test, dyspnea, and chronic respiratory disease questionnaire. Research findings were found to be effective on 6-minute walk test, dyspnea, and chronic respiratory disease questionnaire but not on lung function. Conclusion: Based on these findings, pulmonary rehabilitation should be further emphasized, and standardized protocols and community based pulmonary rehabilitation programs need to be provided. More qualitative research should also be conducted in the future to describe the experiences of the pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with COPD.

The first hypothesis was accepted : The group educated about sexual rehabilitation has more sexual knowledge than those of the uneducated group(t = 7.412, p = .001). 2. The second hypothesis was accepted : The group educated about the sexual rehabilitation has more adjustment of sexual than those of the uneducated group(t = 5.524, p= .001). 3. The third hypothesis was accepted: The higher sexual knowledge state, the higher sexual adjustment(r= .449, p= .003).
