  • We solve the $Bj{\ddot{o}}rling$ problem for constant mean curvature one surfaces in hyperbolic three-space and in de Sitter three-space. That is, we show that for any regular, analytic (and spacelike in the case of de Sitter three-space) curve ${\gamma}$ and an analytic (timelike in the case of de Sitter three-space) unit vector field N along and orthogonal to ${\gamma}$, there exists a unique (spacelike in the case of de Sitter three-space) surface of constant mean curvature 1 which contains ${\gamma}$ and the unit normal of which on ${\gamma}$ is N. Some of the consequences are the planar reflection principles, and a classification of rotationally invariant CMC 1 surfaces.

  • This paper presents an accelerated-curing method by the war water method and discusses how these methods can be adapted for regular quality control and quality assurance of concret. Accelerated strength test data can be used for estimating the furture stength, e.g. the 28-day strength. An accelerated-curing method to predict the 28-day strength of concrete from 1-day warm water-cured test results was evaluated in the laboratory and the field. For these evaluations test are performed for 1845 standard specimens from 123 different batches of concrete. The results of this study the equation applicable universally with resonable accuracy are presented for estimating the potential strength of concrete by the warm water-curing method.

  • The JCMT is now in its third year of operations under EAO management. During this past year, we continued with calls for regular PI programs as well as the second call for Large Programs. The performance of SCUBA-2 has been improved by replacing internal optical filters. The 230GHz Receiver A is in the process of being replaced by a new closed-cycle system. The SCUBA-2 polarimeter, POL-2, commissioned during the past year, has been working very well in measuring the magnetic field structures in molecular clouds. The JCMT successfully participated in the Event Horizon Telescope experiment during April 2017, which utilized the phased-up ALMA for the first time. The first round of Large Programs are nearing completion, with first publications beginning to be published. The JCMT continues to welcome inputs from the community, and the next users meeting will be held in Seoul in January 2018.

  • This paper describes the dynamics of the weak shock wave propagating inside some kinds of branched pipe bends. Computations are carried out by solving the two-dimensional, compressible, unsteady Euler Equations. The second-order TVD(Total Variation Diminishing) scheme is employed to discretize the governing equations. For computations, two types of branched pipe($90^{\circ}$ branch,$45^{\circ}$ branch) with a diameter of D are used. The incident normal shock wave is assumed at D upstream of the pipe bend entrance, and its Mach number is changed between 1.1 and 2.4. The flow fields are numerically visualized by using the pressure contours and computed schlieren images. The comparison with the experimental data performed for the purpose of validation of computational work. Reflection and diffraction of the propagating shock wave are clarified. The present computations predicted the experimented flow field with a good accuracy.

  • An automated process planning system for cold forging of non-axisymmetric parts of comparatively simple shape was developed in this study. Programs for the system have been written with Visual LISP in the AutoCAD using a personal computer and are composed of four main modules such as input module, shape cognition and shape expression module, material diameter determination module and process planning module. The design rules and knowledges for th system are extracted from the plasticity theories. handbook, relevant reference and empirical knowledge of field experts. Generally, in forging, only front view is needed for expression of axisymmetric parts, but non-axisymmetric parts are needed both front view and plane. At the plane, this system cognizes the external shape of non-axisymmetric parts - number of sides of regular polygon and radius of a circle circumscribing the polygon of n sides. At the front view, the system perceives diameter of axisymmetric portions and hight of primitive geometries such as polygon, cylinder, cone, concave, convex, etc.

  • This is a clinical review of the results from electric cardioversion and pharmacological therapy used in our hospital for reverting cardiac arrythmia in patients with mitral valve surgery between Jan. 1990 and Jun. 1991. Of 62 evaluated patients, 16 patients had regular sinus rhythm and the other 46 had arrhythmias [42; atrial fibrillation 1; atrial flutter 1; premature ventricular contraction] preoperatively. In 2 of patients with sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation newly developed after surgery and was converted into sinus rhythm soon by intravenous administration of digoxin. Remaining 14 patient resumed sinus rhythm spontaneously. In patients with preoperative arrythmia, 3 patients reverted into sinus rhythm from atrial fibrillation by electric cardioversion at operative field, 1 patient by lidocain and mexiletine, 4 patients by combined use of digoxin and verapamil, 4 patients by 2 times of oral quinidine and 9 patient by long term use of oral amiodarone. Throughout this consecutive trials of anti-arrhythmic drugs and electric cardioversion, Conversion into normal sinus rhythm occurred in 48% of patients with arrhythmia developed after mitral valve surgery.

  • In this paper, we proposed a multiplicative algorithm for two polynomials in existence coefficients over finite field GF(3$^{m}$ ). Using the proposed multiplicative algorithm, we constructed the multiplier of modular architecture with parallel in-output. The proposed multiplier is composed of (m+1)$^2$identical cells, each cell consists of single mod(3) additional gate and single mod(3) multiplicative gate. Proposed multiplier need single mod(3) multiplicative gate delay time and m mod(3) additional gate delay time not clock. Also, the proposed architecture is simple, regular and has the property of modularity, therefore well-suited for VLSI implementation.

  • MR spectroscopy of intracellularly located $^{133}Cs$ has been used to monitor the uptake of Gd-EOB-DTPA by the isolated rat liver. As shown by ${31}P$ spectroscopy, accumulation of $^{133}Cs$ ions in hepatocytes does not produce detectable effects on the metabolism. The hepatic internalization of Gd-EOB-DTPA was followed by the paramagnetic relaxation enhancement of the intracellular $^{133}Cs$ ions, and confirmed by parallel quantitations of Gd and Cs run by inductively coupled plasma analysis of liver samples and aliquots of perfusate. Two peaks are observed at -22.0 and -23.5 ppm, with respect to the line of the external reference arbitarily set to 0 ppm. Upon rinsing of the extracellular compartment with regular K-H free of CsCl, the high-field resonance disappears within 20min. The intracellular concentration was confirmed by ICP, which gives a $Cs^+$ content of $22.0\pm3.5mM$. The relaxation data significantly underestimate the Gd content, suggesting a potential compartmentation of $Cs^+$ and the contrast agent.

  • The Vortex-In-Cell(VIC) method combined with panel method is applied to the analysis of incompressible unsteady viscous flow. The dynamics of resulting flow is governed by the vorticity transport equation in Lagrangian form with vortex particle representation of the flow field. A regular grid which is independent to the shape of a body is used for numerical evaluation based on immersed boundary technique. With an introduction of this approach, the development and validation of the VIC method is presented with some computational results for incompressible viscous flow around two or three dimensional bodies such as wing section, sphere, finite wing and marine propeller.

  • Rice's monotone streamline upwind finite element method, which was proposed to treat convection-dominated flows, is applied to the linear triangular element. An alignment technique of unstructured grids with given velocity fields is used to prevent the interpolation error produced in evaluating the convection term in the upwind method. The alignment of grids is accomplished by optimizing a target function defined with the inner-product of a properly chosen side vector in the element with the velocity field. Two pure advection problems are considered to demonstrate the superiorities of the present approach in solving the convection-dominated flow on the unstructured grid. Solutions obtained with aligned grids are much closer to the exact solutions than those with initial regular grids. The capability of the present approach in predicting the appearance of the secondary vortex in the laminar confined jet impingement is shown by comparing streamlines to those produced by SIMPLE on a highly stretched grid toward the impingement plate.
