In this paper, we consider curriculum mining as an application of process mining in the domain of education. The basic objective of the curriculum mining is to construct a registration pattern model by using logs of registration data. However, subject registration patterns of students are very unstructured and complicated, called a spaghetti model, because it has a lot of different cases and high diversity of behaviors. In general, it is typically difficult to develop and analyze registration patterns. In the literature, there was an effort to handle this issue by using clustering based on the features of students and behaviors. However, it is not easy to obtain them in general since they are private and qualitative. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new framework of curriculum mining applying K-means clustering based on subject attributes to solve the problems caused by unstructured process model obtained. Specifically, we divide subject's attribute data into two parts : categorical and numerical data. Categorical attribute has subject name, class classification, and research field, while numerical attribute has ABEEK goal and semester information. In case of categorical attribute, we suggest a method to quantify them by using binarization. The number of clusters used for K-means clustering, we applied Elbow method using R-squared value representing the variance ratio that can be explained by the number of clusters. The performance of the suggested method was verified by using a log of student registration data from an 'A university' in terms of the simplicity and fitness, which are the typical performance measure of obtained process model in process mining.
The current situation of cancer registration in China was systematically reviewed. So far, cancer registration in China has been making a great progress in the following aspects: the number of cancer registries and covered population have increased dramatically; a registration network has been established and completed gradually; regulations and rules improved remarkably; more attention is being paid by every level of government; a lot of registration software has been created and financial support ensured. However, we are still facing some problems and challenges, such as no stable groups of registrars, shortage of training opportunities, poor data quality, insufficient utilization and lack of multidisciplinary mechanisms, so that the cancer registration system still needs to be enhanced and improved. Along with the development of economy, science and information technology, methods and patterns of cancer registration is changing. It is to be expected that cancer registration will be automatic, nationwide and integrated with community healthcare in the near future.
In this paper, we propose 2D industrial image registration method for the detection of defects. Proposed method performs preprocessing to smooth the original image with the preservation of the edge for the robust registration against general noise. Then, x-direction gradient magnitude image and corresponding binary image are generated. Density analysis around neighborhood regions per pixel are performed to generate feature image for preventing mis-registration due to moire-like patterns, which frequently happen in industrial images. Finally, 2D image registration based on phase correlation between feature images is performed to calculate translational parameters to align two images rapidly and optimally. Experimental results showed that the registration accuracy of proposed method for the real industrial images was 100% and our method was about twenty times faster than the previous method. Our fast and accurate method could be used for the real industrial applications.
Cancer registration provides a firm basis for cancer control efforts and research into changing patterns of incidence, mortality, survival and prevalence is of obvious importance. Most of the countries of Asia have already published relevant data although the level of coverage and accuracy do vary a great deal both between and within countries. The present review concerns the relevant literature for the period 2008-2013, focusing on the types of research conducted and the conclusions that can be drawn with regard to what should be done in the future to translate the information available into effective intervention efforts to reduce the burden of disease. A major emphasis has been on determining variation in incidence and mortality/survival on the basis of ethnicity and socioeconomic as well as geographical background, as well as trends over time, either for cancer in general or specific organ sites. In addition a small number of papers focused on methodological, quality and cancer control issues, very pertinent to the future development of cancer registry based research.

Outlier detection and removal is a crucial step needed for various image processing applications such as image registration. Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) is known to be the best algorithm so far for the outlier detection and removal. However RANSAC requires a cosiderable computation time. To drastically reduce the computation time while preserving the comparable quality, a outlier detection and removal method based on modified K-means is proposed. The original K-means was conducted first for matching point pairs and then cluster merging and member exclusion step are performed in the modification step. We applied the methods to various images with highly repetitive patterns under several geometric distortions and obtained successful results. We compared the proposed method with RANSAC and showed that the proposed method runs 3~10 times faster than RANSAC.
Cancer registration, an important component of cancer surveillance, is essential to a unified, scientific and public health approach to cancer prevention and control. India has one of the highest cancer incidence and mortality rates in the world. A good surveillance system in the form of cancer registries is important for planning and evaluating cancer-control activities. Cancer registration in India was initiated in 1964 and expanded since 1982, through initiation of the National Cancer Registry Program (NCRP) by the Indian Council of Medical Research. NCRP currently has twenty-six population based registries and seven hospital based registries. Yet, Indian cancer registries, mostly in urban areas, cover less than 15% of the population. Other potential concerns about some Indian registries include accuracy and detail of information on cancer diagnosis, and timeliness in updating the registry databases. It is also important that necessary data collection related quality assurance measures be undertaken rigorously by the registries to ensure reliable and valid information availability. This paper reviews the current status of cancer registration in India and discusses some of the important pitfalls and issues related to cancer registration. Cancer registration in India should be complemented with a nationwide effort to foster systematic investigations of cancer patterns and trends by states, regions and sub populations and allow a continuous cycle of measurement, communication and action.
In this paper, a new approach to building a registration authority for issuing PKI-based certificates is presented to make the process of identifying an individual more secure and reliable by utilizing human iris recognition technology. The tasks of the proposed system associated with the manipulation of irises except for the general functions of registration authorities can be categorized into three modules, the acquisition of iris images, the registration of iris information, and the verification of users by means of iris patterns. The information among the three modules is safely exchanged through encryption and decryption with a symmetric cryptographic method. As a feature extraction method for a given iris image, a wavelet transform is applied to represent a feature vector with a small dimension of information obtained by subsampling an image corresponding to lower frequency bands successively without loss of information. Through the experiments on human iris recognition technology we proposed and applied to the registration authority, the potential of biometric technology in various applications is confirmed.
The records for the tuberculosis patients who discharged from the health center during 1982 in Kangwha county were analized in order to study the characteristics and the patterns of treatments for the pulmonary tuberculosis patients with the history of previous treatment before registration and also the relationship between the previos history of treatment and the outcome at the time of discharge from the health center. The major findings are as follows. 1. Those who have a history of previous treatment were 58, 22.5% of those 258 patients who were studied. 2. There is no difference in sex however the rate of previous history of treatment was higher among middle age group (20-59) than young and old age group (under 19 or over 60). 3. The rate of previous treatment was rather higher in those lived in remote area from Eup. 4. As for the reationship with occupation, students and civil servants who easily exposured to the public relations of government's tuberculosis control program experienced lower previous treatment before registration than farmers or unemployed. 5. A total of 62.1% were previously treated less than 6 months, 29.3% between 6 and 12 months, and only 8.6% more than 12 months before registration to health center. 6. The most common used anti-tuberculosis drugs were isoniazid and ethambutol but only 13.8% used government-standardized precription and 69.0% used secondary drugs from its beginning. 7. There was no statistical difference between the previous history of treatment and the outcome at the time of discharge from the health center. However the longer the duration of treatment before registration was the lower the cure rate at health center was.

In this paper, we propose a web GPS based logistics vehicle control management system using MVC design patterns. The proposed system is designed by applying design patterns of object oriented modeling called mini-architecture to enhance reliability of software as well as promote stability of overall system design. In addition, we can get a position information by means of the GPS embedded in PDA and communicate between client and monitoring server using CDMA network so that the position of client can be identified directly by the map service. The system provides an moving object indexing technique which extends the existing TB-tree to manage and retrieve a transporting trajectory of logistics efficiently. Finally, with development of the logistics vehicle control service called WG-LOGICS system, we can verify the usefulness of our system which is able for monitoring a vehicle preparation, allocating registration, loading a burden, transfer path, and destination arrival in real world.

Mobility of service users makes location update and paging (L/P) procedures indispensable features in mobile communication networks. Importance of optimizing the configuration of L/P areas has been increased by the growth of L/P related signaling. In this study, we deal with the L/P configuration which an LA (Location Area) may contain multiple PAs (Paging Areas). Given the network topology, L/P related parameters, and traffics generated by each cell, is provided the problem of finding optimal LA/PA configuration minimizing the amount of L/P related signaling. The optimization problem is solved using a simulated annealing, and detailed computational results are conducted to capture the effects of mobility, call arrival patterns and boundary crossing rate on the LA and PA configurations.
