The purpose of this paper is to discuss the effects of soil properties such as liquid limit, water content, etc. on the compression index and to propose the empirical equation of compression index far regional clay and to verify the application Back Propagation Neural Network(BPNN). The compression index values obtained from laboratory tests are in the range of 0.01 to 3.06 for clay soils sampled in eleven regions. As the compare with the results of laboratory test and the predicted compression index value from the proposed empirical equations, the results of empirical equations including single soil parameter have a possibility to be overestimated. Also, the results of empirical equations including multiple soil parameters closed to the measured value more than that of empirical equations including single soil parameter, but the standard error for measured value obtained larger than 0.05. For these reasons, the empirical equations including single or multiple soil parameters proposed base on the results of laboratory test and the determination coefficient is up to 0.89. The result of BPNN shows that correlation coefficient and standard error between test and neural network result is larger than 0.925 and smaller than 0.0196, which means high correlativity, respectively. Especially, the estimated result by neural network, using only three parameters such as natural water content, dry unit weight and in-situ void ratio among various factors is available to the estimation of compression index and the correlation coefficient is 0.974. This result verified the possibility that if BPNN use, the compression index can be predicted by the parameters, which obtained from simplex field test.

T-DMB(Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) for portable and mobile broadcasting service was officially launched in the metropolitan area of Korea in December 2005. The development of interactive data services and the expansion of T-DMB network have been now progressed, and the regional T-DMB broadcasters will be selected in the near future. Although it is important to evaluate service area and reduce a fringe area for optimizing RF coverage of T-DMB, there was no professional system to support those works, and therefore lots of resources in budget, manpower and time were required. The measurement considering characteristics of SFN(Single Frequency Network) is essential in the implementation of T-DMB network which needs to control synchronization, spacing and output power of transmitters. In addition, mobile measurement, enough measured parameters for many-sided analysis of reception quality, efficient management of enormous measured data and representation of measured results on the electronic map are also important in evaluating service area. In this paper, we derived requirements for a new measurement system in T-DMB by considering the above details, and we proposed and developed an integrated measurement and analysis system. The developed system was applied to the implementation of T-DMB network of KBS and field tests, and it proved its efficiency and accuracy in result.

Academia and research institutes mainly use qualitative methods that rely on expert judgments to understand and predict research trends and science and technology trends. Since such a technique has the disadvantage of requiring much time and money, in this study, science and technology trends were predicted using keyword network analysis. To that end, 13,618 AI (Artificial Intelligence) patent abstracts were analyzed using keyword network analysis in three separate lots based on the period of the submission of each abstract: analysis period 1 (January 1, 2002 - December 31, 2006), analysis period 2 (January 1, 2007 - December 31, 2011), and analysis period 3 (January 1, 2012 - December 31, 2016). According to the results of frequency analyses, keywords related to methods in the field of AI application appeared more frequently as time passed from analysis period 1 to analysis period 3. In keyword network analyses, the connectivity between keywords related to methods in the field of AI application and other keywords increased over time. In addition, when the connected keywords that showed increasing or decreasing trends during the entire analysis period were analyzed, it could be seen that the connectivity to methods and management in the field of AI application was strengthened while the connectivity to the field of basic science and technology was weakened. According to analysis of keyword connection centrality, the centrality value of the field of AI application increased over time. According to analysis of keyword mediation centrality during analysis period 3, keywords related to methodologies in the field of AI application showed the highest mediation value. Therefore, it is expected that methods in the field of AI application will play the role of powerful intermediaries in AI hereafter. The technique presented in this paper can be employed in the excavation of tasks related to regional innovation or in fields such as social issue visualization.
Based on the supply location, demand location, and transportation network, aggregate supply-demand characteristics and aggregate distribution status were analyzed from the results of the closest distance, service areas, and location-allocation scenarios using GIS network analysis. As a result, it was found that the average transport distance of aggregates from the supplier was 6 km on average, the average range of 7 km for sand, and 10 km for gravel was found to reach the destination. In particular, the simulated service area covers about 92% in Seoul-Gyeonggi Province, 85% in Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Province, and more than 90% in Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Province. These results have a significant implication in quantitatively interpreting primary data on aggregate supply-demand. Furthermore, these results suggest the possibility of a wide-area quantitative analysis of aggregate supply regions necessary for establishing a basic aggregate plan. The results also evaluated by the site-allocation scenario show that aggregate supply may be possible through companies less than 200 with large-amounts quarries, which is the 700 companies currently supplying small amounts of aggregates on the country. Therefore, in terms of distribution of aggregates, a policy approach is needed to form an appropriate market for regions with high and low density of aggregate supply services, and the necessity of regional distribution and re-evaluation is suggested through an aggregate supply analysis demand across the country. Furthermore, in analyzing the supply-demand network for the aggregate market, additional research is needed to establish long-term policies for the aggregate industry and related industries.
Seoul is under increasing pressure to choose between the US-led IndoPacific Strategy (IPS) and China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Accordingly, this paper undertakes a detailed appraisal of the IPS and the BRI in the context of Korea's national policy imperatives. Based on a study of network structure by Daniel Nexon and Thomas Wright (2007), the present study seeks to identify a particular network structure within the IPS and the BRI. Through this analysis, the relationship between the core and the participant states will be addressed. Awareness of specific configurations of the IPS and the BRI is important as these reveal what participant states can expect from each network. According to Nexon and Wright, there are four types of network structure: unipolar anarchy, hegemonic order, constitutional order, and imperial order. Based on this, we argue that the IPS has a constitutional order and the BRI has an imperial order. Therefore, we suggest to Seoul that participating in the IPS may make more room for an independent foreign policy than would a BRI partnership with China. South Korea would benefit by participating in the IPS in terms of its national security, striking a favourable regional balance of power.
The utilization of Digital and Social Network has become be a key success factor in business operations as information technologies evolve rapidly. This study is to identity the relationship between ICT & digital utilization, global orientation and export marketing capability in Korean SMEs. Survey data of Korean SMEs in south regional areas was collected and analyzed for empirical hypothesis test by PLS structural equation method. The key findings are as follows. First, ICT utilization such as SNS, homepage and online portal does not impact directly on export marketing capability. It means that SMEs would not still take advantage of utilization of social network availability. Second, ICT utilization has positive influences on global market orientation and global network orientation. Finally, both global market orientation and network have significant impacts on export marketing capability. In conclusion, global orientation has full-mediation effects on relationship between ICT capability and global marketing. This study provides evidences and some practical insights that digital utilization have indirect influences on global marketing through global markets and network orientation in Korean SMEs. In information technology era, ICT utilization will play an important role in the process of SMEs' internationalization. Therefore, for sustainable growth and survival SMEs should manage and intensify ICT capability more strategically as one of core competence. The value of ICT capability in SMEs would be depended on their strategic perspectives toward digitalization. Additional empirical research about digital capability based on larger sample will be needed.

Transportation Economies of scale are the essential properties of hub networks. One critical property of the hub network design problem is to quantify cost savings which stem from economies of scale, the costs of operating hub facilities and opportunity costs associated with delays stemming from consolidation of traffic flows. Due to the NP-complete property of the hub location problem, however, most previous researchers have focused on the development of heuristic algorithms for approximate solutions. The purpose of this paper is to develop a hub network design model considering transportation economies of scale from the consolidation of traffic flows. The model is designed to consider the uniqueness of hub networks and to determine several cost components. The heuristic algorithms for the developed model are suggested and the results of the model are compared with recently published studies using real data. Results of the analysis show that the proposed model reflects transportation economies of scale due to consolidation of flows. This study can form not only the theoretical basis of an effective and rational hub network design but contribute to the assessment of existing and planned logistics systems.

This article is aimed to find a more successful way to build a metropolitan-wide governance for enhancing industrial cluster in South-East region, Korea. We begin a research with reviewing a current study of regional cluster and its governance. New industrial system and agglomeration changed regional growth theory and urban system. In traditional system, a central city dominated economy of the metropolitan area. However, with development of new transportation and communication technology, a central city lost their superiority to suburban cities. In other words, growing competition between central and suburban cities changed traditional concentration and diffusion theory of urbanization which dominated urban geography for last decades. Next, current situation of development of industrial cluster in South-East region is examined to suggest policy for more competitiveness. South-East region has grown as the most prominent cluster of mechanical engineering and metal industry in Korea since the late 1970s. In the form of agglomeration and network of a specific and its related industry, South-East region has formed a linear industrial belt along with the inter-regional South Coast Highway and contain about ten industrial cities. Accompanying with this growing South-East region, a problem has risen from geographic mismatch between metropolitan-wide industrial cluster and its administrative boundary. Since industrial cluster has no specific administrative boundary, adequate government support for developing industrial cluster has not been provided. Responding to the problem, academics and policy makers maintain need in establishing a metropolitan-wide governance for supporting a cluster. At the end, this paper provides some implication to planners and policy makers.
Induced from government policy to boost regional economic competitiveness, regional informatization forming e-community has been the subject included in the various regional informatization master plans in Korea. However, few cases are reported for its successful implementation mainly due to the lack of profitable business model to encourage investment. On the other hand, most efforts to build smart apartments, part of the home networking in a broad sense, has been pursued from the different directions. Telecommunication giant such as Korea Telecom tries to find new source of revenue exploiting enhanced broad band technology. Also, construction companies started constructing housing complexes equipped with built-in high speed network infrastructure as a means to differentiation to other competitors. The contents providing community portal has become mandatory in the sense of bearing the cost from customer side who are willing to adopt those services for new smart house. Our research motivation stems from exploring critical value aspects of realizing the profitability of this emerging new business model, that is, industry convergence model. In this paper, mainly from the survey results of the Korean smart apartment complexes, we reported recent home networking services development in Korea, and value propositions from the business model perspective. Merged business model components of telecommunications, construction, and internet contents are analyzed to provide the insights for future directions.
Purpose - The Visegrád Group cooperation of the past 14 years and that of V4 for the past 20 years has very important significance in the 21st century that must be maintained. This cooperation is valuable because of the trade routes that connect northern Poland to the Balkans in southern Croatia, which forman important basis for the resuscitation of Central European development. Currently, because of the European manufacturing base and industrial development, an energy supply and stable energy distribution networks have been introduced to secure cooperation and not competition within the Visegrád Group. This paper's research emphasizes the supply chain hub in neighboring countries. Although Central and Eastern European countries are small, they can provide a competitive response to Western Europe if they collaborate with the V4 group and other countries. Research design, data, and methodology - The subjects of this study in the Visegrád Group area are related to the development of Marketing and Distribution Sciences in the integrated European Union. In relation to the existing energy infrastructure, construction companies and financial institutions benefit from large-scale construction projects. Existing or new infrastructure facilities among the V4 must comply with the preconditions of regional energy markets. The network of emerging markets is changing into a European-logistics hub of new markets. This hub is closely associated with the economic development of European self-sustainment given that energy for distribution and consumption is imported from Russia. Therefore, this paper indirectly provides data on the regional distribution of energy as alternative bases in Europe for market expansion to Asia. Results - As a result, it appeared unlikely that V4 failed to implement homogeneity following the standards of Western Europe, as proposed by the EU. Throughout European history, individuals have gathered in Central Europe as an innovation hub. Currently, the region is being established independently for energy industrial development and not for tourism development, and is expected to play a central role in innovation and distribution consumption. Therefore, similar to Western and Northern Europe, V4 only appears to engage in distribution consumption on the basis of the identity that it formed for itself. This area is expected to either create a regional platform or a voice over a single economic policy. Conclusions - To this end, regarding the distribution of consumer groups within and outside the region, the V4 group is expected to be established for various policy areas and as a Eurasian outpost of trade and distribution logistics. In addition, given its purpose of engaging in the distribution of energy cooperation and trade clusters, the Visegrád Group will be in charge of the center axis of the bridge for distribution logistics trading partners from the Western Balkans to Caucasus and Eastern Europe. Thus, the Visegrád Group is entering this region as a platform for market share by enabling all or any investor can gain greater industrial benefits.
