Bq-ZSI fed Induction Motor Drive System Using Modified Space Vector Modulation (변형 공간벡터 변조 기법이 적용된 Bq-ZSI를 이용한 유도전동기 구동시스템)

  • This study investigates a bidirectional quasi-Z-source inverter (Bq-ZSI) system with bidirectional power transfer capability and a modified space vector modulation scheme for reducing the ripple of the inductor current. By replacing the diode in the impedance network with an active switch, the power flow can be bidirectional. The average inductor current of the Bq-ZSI network is negative in the regenerative braking mode, thereby regenerating the power. In addition, modified space vector modulation scheme is applied to the Bq-ZSI to control shoot-through time effectively. A 5 kW prototype is built and tested to implement the proposed system. Experimental results show that the Bq-ZSI system is capable of regenerative braking of the induction motor and that the modified space vector modulation method is efficient.

Performance Analysis of Ammonia-Water Regenerative Rankine Cycles for Use of Low-Temperature Energy Source (저온 열원 활용을 위한 암모니아-물 재생 랭킨 사이클의 성능 해석)

  • It is a great interest to convert more energy in the heat source into the power and to improve the efficiency of power generating processes. Since the efficiency of power generating processes becomes poorer as the temperature of the source decreases, to use an ammonia-water mixture instead of water as working fluid is a possible way to improve the efficiency of the system. In this work performance of ammonia-water regenerative Rankine cycle is investigated for the purpose of extracting maximum power from low-temperature waste heat in the form of sensible energy. Special attention is paid to the effect of system parameters such as mass fraction of ammonia and turbine inlet pressure on the characteristics of system. Results show that the power output increases with the mass fraction of ammonia in the mixture, however workable range of the mass fraction becomes narrower as turbine inlet pressure increases and is able to reach 16.5kW per unit mass flow rate of source air at $180^{\circ}C$.

  • In this paper a statcom is developed to improve the power quality in a dc traction system. The proposed statcom can be used as both inverter and active filter. As an active filter, it can compensate harmonic distortion and reactive power and as an inverter, it can recycle regenerative energy caused by decelerating trains. The simulation results are carried out by using PSCAD/EMTDC software.

  • In the design of an electric power plant, the capacity to meet the peak load demand is one of the important factors to be considered. This peak load usually occurs when the most of the cooling air-conditioning systems are being operated during daytime in summer season. Therefore, it is necessary to construct an additional electric power plant and to develop the new air-conditioning system for relieving the peak load. This paper analysed the performance characteristics of this experimental regenerative ice energy system by means of a bundle of the heat-pipes. And the result of this analysis was applied to the simulation of an air-conditioning system model. Also, an operation program of moisture air was made according to air load and in order to computerize the air-conditioning system a CAD program was developed by the properties of moisture air.

  • 본 논문에서는 속도에 따른 순시 최대 회생에너지를 갖는 제동기법이 제안되었다. 제안하는 기법을 기존 전동기 구동시스템에 적용시키기 위해 주변기기를 추가하지 않고 특정속도에서 최대 회생에너지를 갖는 토크를 발생시켜 전동기를 제동하였다. 또한 제안하는 기법의 회생 에너지가 기존의 기법보다 증가함을 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, new electric railway feeding system which has active transformer is modeled for evaluating the steady state analysis using PSCAD/EMTDC. Equivalent models including power supply, feeder, train and transformers are proposed for simplifying the model of the feeding system in high speed electric railway. In case study, simulation results applied to proposed model are compared with the conventional and new systems through the catenary voltage, three-phase voltage of PCC (Point of Common Coupling) and the efficiency of regenerative braking energy.

  • This paper presents a thermodynamic performance analysis of regenerative organic Rankine cycle (ORC) using turbine bleeding to utilize low-grade finite thermal energy. Refrigerant R245fa was selected as the working fluid. Special attention is paid to the effects of the turbine bleeding pressure and the turbine bleed fraction on the thermodynamic performance of the system such as net power production and thermal efficiency. Results show that the thermal efficiency has an optimum value with respect to the turbine bleeding pressure and the net power production is lower than the basic ORC while the thermal efficiency is higher.

  • In this paper we further propose to add a very simple regenerative clamping circuit to SSIPP to reduce the voltage stress and to recycle the energy trapped in the leakage inductance of the isolation transformer, thus eliminating the need for a lossy snubber circuit. In addition, this proposed clamping circuit also provides a mechanism to reset the magnetizing current of the output transformer of SSIPP employing a Forward converter as the output stage. Simulations and experimental results are reported to verify the operation and performance of the SSIPP with regenerative clamping.

  • The MOS-controlled thyristor(MCT) is a new power semi-conductor device that combines four layers thyristor structure presenting regenerative action and MOS-gate providing controlled turn-on and turn-off. The MCT has very fast switching speed owing to voltage controlled MOS-gate, and very low on-state voltage drop resulting from regenerative action of four layers thyristor structure. In addition, because of a higher dv/dt rating and di/dt rating, gate drive circuit and snubber circuit can be simpler comparing to other power switching devices. So recently much interest and endeavor is being applied to develop the performance and ratings of the MCT. This paper describes the switching characteristic of the MCT for its practical applications and presents a model for PSPICE circuit simulation.   • A subway in Seoul has had a major role of public transportation after the opening of Seoul Subway Line 1 on August 15, 1974 and it has reached 34.7% of the transportation of Seoul citizens. The extended length of the subway system suppled with DC power in Korea is about 500km. In this system, the devices which are proper for regenerative power system are being required because of changeover from old braking and ATS signal system to regenerative braking and ATO signal system. In this paper, we reviewed the safety standards for the insulated hangers in overhead contact line. These hangers which have depended on foreign imports are being developed in Korea considering ease of demand and supply and economic effects.
