This study was carried out to improve the ability of embryo formation and the efficiency of plant regeneration from suspension cultured cells of seed derived calli of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.). The frequency of formation of round cell and cell colonies was highest at 50 days after suspension culture in $N_6$ medium supplemented with $4\;g/{\ell}$ casein hydrolysate (CH), $20\;g/{\ell}$ sucrose and $30\;g/{\ell}$ sorbitol. The highest frequency of plant regeneration and somatic embryo formation was obtained from suspension cultured cells of 60 days. Addition of CH ($4\;g/{\ell}$) in suspension culture medium gave the highest frequency of embryo formation (39.6%) and plant regeneration (73.0%).

OTEC power plants are studied as a viable option for the supply of clean energy. In this paper, the thermodynamic performance of OTEC system was calculated. The results show that the working fluids such as R32 and R125 would be alternatives based upon cutting down the system size, environmental preservation, and conditions without having a severe penalty in efficiency. the initial cost significantly. The regeneration system increase in energy efficiency, and the system can generate electricity when the difference in warm and cold seawater inlet temperatures are greater than $15^{\circ}C$. Also, the system efficiency of OTEC power plant using the condenser effluent from nuclear power plant instead of the surface water increased about 2%.

Diesel particulate trap is the most reliable system to reduce the particulate matters from diesel engine. Filter is the core component of DPF and ceramic monolith type is dominantly used, which is expensive and fragile relatively at thermal shock. Porous metal filter, which has superior thermal characteristics and low cost, was tested in order to analyze the regeneration performance by using with ferrocene additive. This filter showed the 72% filtration efficiency, additives itself diminished 48% of PM from engine out emission, and final PM reduction ratio of 89% was achieved by DPF system with D-13 test mode.
In this work, the heterogeneous ion exchange membrane was used in a electrodialysis apparatus to treat a Ni planting rinse water because the heterogeneous ion exchange membrane was excellent efficiency as compared with low manufacturing cost, was easy to make, and had a good mechanical properties. For a regeneration of membrane and to obtain the optimal condition for a scale-up of apparatus after treating Ni plating rinse water, we would find about the limiting current density and the concentration polarization. When the Ni plating rinse water 150mg/L was treated with the electrodialysis apparatus using the heterogeneous ion exchange membrane, the limiting current density was about $1.49{\;}mA/\textrm{cm}^2$. And the limiting current density increased with the flow rate and concentration of Ni plating rinse water. We recognized that the used membrane could be reused by periodic backwashing because efficiency was constant when the membrane was backwashed after treating wastewater.

In the respect of energy saving and reusing, it is necessary to reduce greenhouse gases emission and to enhance the operation efficiency in electric railway system. Recently, as the power electronics technologies are advanced, some countries have focused on the regenerative inverter to use regeneration energy on each line. When the electric tractions are stopped or slowed down, it is useful to supply the surplus energy to the power source by regenerative system, which increases its energy efficiency. Also, the generated energy can be supply to other tractions or equipments inside traction. Thus, it may help reduce construction cost of additional power plants. The purpose of this study is to describe the development status of the regenerative inverter system which suppress extra DC-line voltage and regenerate the energy instead of using a resister.
Effective plant regeneration from immature cotyledons of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] cultivars was achieved via somatic embryogenesis. Somatic embryogenesis was performed with the cotyledons of immature embryos 14-20 d after flowering. Immature cotyledons of cv. Whangkeum were placed abaxial or adaxial side down on modified MS medium containing 20mg/L 2,4-D. The greatest number of somatic embryos, 1.2 per cotyledon, was produced from those of 4.0-4.9 mm in length which had been placed abaxial side down. Among cvs. Pecking, Whangkeum and Baekwoon, Pecking had the highest embryo induction efficiency with 4.3 somatic embryos per cotyledon in 20mg/L 2,4-D treatment and with 1.0 embryo per cotyledon in 8mg/L NAA treatment. Germinable globular somatic embryos were induced with the highest efficiency, 27.6%, in 20mg/L 2,4-D and were proliferated efficiently on liquid medium containing 10mg/L 2,4-D. The globular somatic embryos developed into germinable mature somatic embryos on medium containing 10 $\mu$M CoCl2, 9% sucrose, and 0.5% activated charcoal. These mature somatic embryos germinated on hormone-free mediu. After transfer to the soil, regenerated plants with seeds were obtained.
The chemical waste treatment, APEG (alkali/polyethylene glycol) process has been shown to be effective for the dechlorination of PCBs in transformer oil. Considerable amount of PCBs, however, still remains in the waste exceeding the 25-50 ppm limit set by regulatory agency. A new thermal regeneration technology has been developed in our laboratory for disposal of hazardous organic wastes. Due to the limited oxidation of carbon surface through the reverse movement of flame front to oxidant flow, this technology was termed counterflow oxidative system (COS). Specially, the oxidant flow in the COS process is a principal parameter which determines the optimum conditions regarding acceptable removal and destruction efficiency of adsorbed organic wastes at minimal carbon loss. The COS process, under optimum conditions, was found to be very effective and the removal and destruction efficiency of 99.99% or better was obtained for residual PCBs in the waste while bulk (≥90%) of carbon was recovered. Any toxic formation of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzo furans (PCDFs) were not detected in the regenerated carbon and impinger traps. The results of surface area measurement showed that the adsorptive property of regenerated carbon is mostly reclaimed during the COS process.
In an attempt to optimize the in vitro-regeneration conditions necessary for the genetic manipulation of tomato species, we examined 'Ailsa Graig' cultivar of Lycopersicon for regeneration ability. The basal medium used for callus formation and shoot regeneration was MS (MS + vitamin) supplemented with six combinations of zeatin 2 mg/l, zeatin 2 mg/l + IAA 0.1 mg/l, zeatin 2 mg/l + IAA 0.5 mg/l, zeatin 4 mg/l, zeatin 4 mg/l + IAA 0.1 mg/l and zeatin 4 mg/l + IAA 0.5 mg/l. When all conditions tested were considered, however, only zeatin 2 mg/l was shown to be the best in shoot regeneration. The morphological characterization from in vitro-cultured callus of Lycopersicon esculentum L. var. 'Ailsa Craig' was investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM). The surfaces of in vitro-cultured callus had well-defined epidermal cell in condition of zeatin 2 mg/l, but those of different treatments were twisted. These results suggested that shape of callus was involved in efficiency of shoot regeneration in tomato 'Ailsa Craig'.
CEDI-BPM(Continuous Electrodeionization-Bipolar Membrane) has advantages due to high ion permselectivity through ion exchange membranes and the production of $H^+$ and $OH^-$ ions on the bipolar membrane surfaces for regeneration of ion exchange resin during electrodeionization operation. In this study, hardness materials were removed by the CEDI-BPM without scale formation and the ion exchange resins were electrically regenerated during the operation. The adsorption characteristic of ion exchange resin surface, the influence of flow rate on the hardness removal and electric regeneration were investigated in the study. The removal efficiency of Ca was higher than that of Mg in the CEDI-BPM, which was related to the high adsorption capacity of Ca on the cation exchange resin. With increasing flow rate, the flux of Ca and Mg was enhanced by the permselectivity of a cation exchange membrane. In the electric regeneration of CEDI-BPM, it was shown that the regeneration efficiency was higher with a lower regeneration potential applied between cathode and anode.
