  • The purpose of the study, was to investigate Housewives behavior on how to buy refrigerators and how to use them. Besides, their knowledge and keeping ability of electricity and refrigerator is estimated according to regional differences, their ages, their educational courses, and their income. In the report, W e can see if it is related to the years of married life, numbers of the family, having jobs or not, and numbers of marketing a week. The subjects were 675 mothers of the students in the selected schools, at Seoul, Cheongjoo, and Kwesan gun. They answered to the questionnaire devised for the study. their answers were analyzed in percent to grasp their general trend of electricity and electric Appliance. Chi-square test and F-test are chosen to grasp the Cor-relationships between the related variables. The results are as follows: 1) The average rate of possesing the refrigerators is 84.06%. It shows us that the housewives in Seoul possess the more refrigerators than those in other areas. At ages, form 30 to 40 aged women gave the most refrigerators than any other ages women. It reveals us the high income and high educational housewives have high rate of possessing refrigerators. 2) They answered that they purchased the refrigerators by necessity. we can see their motivation of purchasing them is very reasonable. However, we can see that they do not manage the refrigerators well, because the rate of using them during four seasons is only 12.34%, An age of 20year old housewives mostly purchased the refrigerators at the time of marriage. The women who bought them after marriage answered that they mostly took a consultation with their husbands when they bought the refrigerators. They regarded the trade marks of the manufactures and size of the refrigerators, as they bought them. And most of them bought the refrigerators for cash. 3)At homes in Seoul, the kinds of retained foods in the refrigerator are more than those of the house in the city and in the agricultural town. The high income and high educational housewives tend to retain the more kinds of foods. But there are no significant differences between the essential variables such as the numbers of the family, the housewives having jobs or not, and the numbers of marketing. 4)Generally their knowledge on electricity and the refrigerator is very low. However, it shows the statistically significant differences. the housewives in Seoul have more information about refrigerator than the housewives in agricultural town. At ages , the women less than 29 years old have more information about the refrigerator, and the woman who had university education and high income tend to know much about the refrigerator. 5) The keeping ability of the refrigerator is very good, and there are no significant differences among variables. And also it shows that there is no correlationship between their knowledge and their keeping ability.

  • A refrigerator has many components which are made from diverse materials such as metal, polymer, plastic, and rubber. So, it generally requires much time and efforts to build up an analysis model in finite element analysis. In this work, to reduce the computational time and efforts a simplified modeling method was proposed for the analysis of a refrigerator. Occasionally, a stick-slip noise occurs in a refrigerator due to relative slip between shelf and inner-case. When we solve the problem by a FE analysis, we should model the structures with detail for considering the contact conditions; by this reason, too many efforts are consumed in the conventional analysis method. Through this work, we shows the concept of simplifying approach and a good agreement with the results of a real model analysis. And also, the evaluation of the proposed method and the application of contact analysis using the simplified model are discussed.

  • Condition monitoring of the reciprocating compressor is important task. As a traditional method, health monitoring system of refrigerator depends on decision of a skilled person based on his experience. However, the skilled person cannot monitor all the compressors completely. If a sampled compressor is faulty, thousands of compressors manufactured at that place are regarded as faulty compressors. Therefore it is necessary to monitor all compressors in the production line. In the paper real time health monitoring system is developed based on high order time frequency method and artificial neural network. The system is installed in the mass production line. The result of the application has been very successful, and currently the system is working very well on the production line.

  • The compressors in the air conditioner have the role of the pressurization and circulation of the refrigerant. The hermetic reciprocating compressors driven by rotary motor have been used for the air conditioner. The linear compressor has very simple structure and enhancement in the efficiency in comparison to that of conventional reciprocating compressor. The linear compressors are widely used for the small cryogenic refrigerator (below 1 kW), such as the Stirling refrigerator and pulse tube refrigerator. In the cryogenic application, the pressure ratio of the linear compressor is below 1.5, but the linear compressor for the air conditioner should overcome the high pressure ratio and the large pressure difference between the each sides of the piston. The resonance characteristics of the linear compressor has the significant impacts on the power consumption. To minimize the power consumption, the linear compressor should be operated at the resonance point. In the resonance characteristics, the role of the mechanical and gas spring should be considered. In present study, the cycle of the analysis of the vapor compression refrigeration cycle with the different refrigerants (R134a, R4l0a, R600a) and the designs of the linear compressor are performed. The effects of the stiffness of the mechanical spring on the electromagnetic forces would be discussed. Finally, the results show the design specification of the linear compressor for the air conditioner.

  • In this paper, an investigation of a room temperature active magnetic regenerative refrigerator is carried out. Experimental apparatus includes two active magnetic regenerators containing 186 g of Gd spheres. Four E-type thermocouples are installed inside the Active magnetic regenerator(AMR) to observe the instantaneous temperature variation of AMR. Both warm and cold heat exchangers are designed for large temperature span. The cold heat exchanger, which separates the two AMRs, employs a copper tube with length of 80 mm and diameter of 6.35 mm. In order to minimize dead volume between the warm heat exchanger and AMRs, the warm heat exchangers are located close to the AMRs. The deionized water is used as a heat transfer fluid, and maximum 1.4 T magnetic field is supplied by Halbach array of permanent magnets. The AMR plate, which contains the warm and the cold heat exchangers and the AMRs, has reciprocating motion using a linear actuator and each AMR is alternatively magnetized and demagnetized by a Halbach array of permanent magnet. Since the gap of the Halbach array of permanent magnets is 25 mm and two warm heat exchangers have the motion through it, a compact printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) is used as a warm heat exchanger. A maximum no-load temperature span of 26.8 K and a maximum cooling power of 33 W are obtained from the fabricated Active Magnetic Regenerative Refrigerator (AMRR).

  • Foam reaction injection molding (FRIM) is a widely used process for manufacturing polyurethane foam with complex shapes. The modified theoretical model for polyurethane foam forming reaction during FRIM process was established in our previous work. In this study, using the modified model, parametric study for FRIM process was performed in order to optimize experimental conditions of FRIM process such as initial temperature of mold, thickness of mold, and injection amount of polymerizing mixture. In addition, we applied the modified model to real application of refrigerator cabinet to determine optimal manufacturing conditions for polyurethane FRIM process.

  • The Rough Set theory suggested by Pawlak in 1982 has been useful in AI, machine learning, knowledge acquisition, knowledge discovery from databases, expert system, inductive reasoning. etc. The main advantages of rough set are that it does not need any preliminary or additional information about data and reduce the superfluous informations. but it is a significant disadvantage in the real application that the inference result form is not the real control value but the divided disjoint interval attribute. In order to overcome this difficulty, we will propose approach in which Rough set theory and Neuro-fuzzy fusion are combined to obtain the optimal rule base from lots of input/output datum. These results are applied to the rule construction for infering the temperatures of refrigerator's specified points.

  • This paper presents a scheme for a hierarchical production scheduling and control system for a refrigerator factory with mixed model assembly lines. The setting of the factory is as follows. There are three mixed-model assembly lines called main line A, B and C and two batch lines that supply parts to the main lines. For each of the main lines, three work-centers are dedicated to them. The sub-lines and work-centers produce parts in batch type. An incoming production order from the master planner is characterized by its product type, amount, and due date. Under this situation, the proposed scheme has several features to schedule and control the above mentioned factory; 1) select the starting time and the place (assembly line) for an order processing, 2) devise a way to control orders to be processed as scheduled, and 3) reschedule orders when something unexpected happen. Finally, this paper provides a case study where the proposed scheme is applied to.
