UWB 평면 패치안테나의 지향성이득의 향상 방법 (Directivity Gain Improvement Method for UWB Coplanar Patch Antenna)

  • UWB 주파수대역의 안테나로써 CPW 급전의 U-자형 평면 패치 안테나모델의 지향성이득 향상 방법을 검토하였다. 지향성 이득 향상을 위해 CPW 급전의 U-자형 패치 안테나 모델에 개구슬롯 반사면을 부가하여 마이크로스트립 구조로 재구성하였다. 재구성한 안테나는 특성 임피던스 $50.08{\Omega}$에 대해 반사계수는 -6.5dB(VSWR < 3.3)이하이며 지향성이득은 7.8 dBi ~ 9.6 dBi, 전후방비는 17.8dB ~ 28.7dB 그리고 ${\theta}=0^{\circ}$의 주방사 방향에 대해 -3dB 방사각의 범위가 ${\pm}30^{\circ}$의 방사지향성의 패턴을 나타내 보였다.

Ultrasonic Evaluation of Interfacial Stiffness for Nonlinear Contact Surfaces

  • This paper proposes an ultrasonic measurement method for measurement of linear interfacial stiffness of contacting surface between two steel plates subjected to nominal compression pressures. Interfacial stiffness was evaluated by using shear waves reflected at contact interface of two identical solid plates. Three consecutive reflection waves from solid-solid surface are captured by pulse-echo method to evaluate the state of contact interface. A non-dimensional parameter defined as the ratio of their peak-to-peak amplitudes are formulated and used to calculate the quantitative stiffness of interface. Mathematical model for 1-D wave propagation across interfaces is developed to formulate the reflection and transmission waves across the interface and to determine the interfacial stiffness. Two identical plates are fabricated and assembled to form contacting surface and to measure interfacial stiffness at different states of contact pressure by means of bolt fastening. It is found from experiment that the amplitude of interfacial stiffness is dependent on the pressure and successfully determined by employing pulse-echo ultrasonic method without measuring through-transmission waves.

콜로이드 실리카 나노입자의 부착에 의한 반사방지막 제조 및 굴절율 조절 (Convective Deposition of Silica Nano-Colloidal Particles and Preparation of Anti-Reflective Film by Controlling Refractive Index)

  • Anti-reflection film was coated by using spherical silica nano colloids. Silica colloid sol was reserved between two inclined slide glasses by capillary force, and particles were convectively stacked to form a film onto the substrate as the water evaporates. As the sliding speed increased, the thickness of the film decreased and the wavelength at the maximum transmittance decreased. The microstructure observed by SEM showed that silica particles were nearly close packed, which enabled the calculation of the effective refractive index of the film. The film thickness was measured by proffer and calculated from the wavelength of maximum transmittance and the effective refractive index. The effective refractive index of the film could be controlled by a subtle controlling of the coating speed and by mixing two different sized silica particles. When the 100 nm and 50 m particles were mixed at 4:1-5:1 volume ratio, the maximum transmittance of $95.2\%$ for one-sided coating was obtained. This is the one that has increased by $3.8\%$ compared to bare glass substrate, and shows that $99.0\%$ of transmittance or $1.0\%$ of reflectance can be achieved by the simple process if both sides of the substrate are coated.

  • We have investigated the properties of the novel triangular ring resonator with the total internal reflection mirrors and the semiconductor optical amplifier for photonic integrated circuits (PIC). A novel triangular resonators containing active and passive sections are fabricated and characterized with various multimode interference (MMI) lengths. The optimum MMI length and width turn out to be 108 and 9 ${\mu}m$, respectively. A free spectral range of approximately 228 GHz is observed near 1558 nm along with an on-off ratio of 9 dB. The proposed triangular resonator has a good advantage to remove the direct coupling between the two access waveguides of the MMI coupler. Hence, such resonators can be directly integrated with other devices making compact and highly functional PIC possible.

  • 본 연구는 액체의 유동과 광학적 특징에 대해 알아보고 높이 맵 기반 액체 시뮬레이션을 GPU를 이용하여 만화적으로 표현하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 현재까지 컴퓨터 그래픽스에서 기체와 액체 에 대한 NPR적 표현 연구는 많이 진행되었다. 본 연구에서 유체의 유동을 비 물리학적 방법인 간단한 알고리즘을 사용하여 표현하였고, 액체의 광학적 표현에서 반사와 굴절 값의 비는 프레넬 방정식을 이용하여 구했다. 액체의 만화적인 표현은 기존의 방법과 달리 환경맵 상의 반사와 굴절 값을 분할했다. 외곽선 검출은 액체의 점프 에지(jump edge)만을 표현하였다. 그 결과, 액체 시뮬레이션을 만화적으로 표현 할 수 있었다.

  • We report microwave properties of high-T$_c$ superconducting (HTS) microstrip antennas without impedance matching circuits, where the impedance mismatching is obvious under the critical temperature (T$_c$). The superconducting thin films used in this report were YBa$_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) films deposited on MgO substrates produced by pulse laser deposition (PLD) technique. At around T$_c$, 86 K the reflection coefficient rapidly drops, and the standing wave ratio (SWR) becomes almost unity, and the characteristic impedance based on the Smith chart is nearly 50 ${\Omega}$. The reflection coefficient and the SWR of the HTS microstrip antenna were - 62.52 dB and 1.0015, respectively, at the resonant frequency of 11.812 CHz at 86 K.

광학모델을 이용한 자외선 접촉조 최적 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Optimal Design of UV Contactor using an Optical Radiation Model)

  • Because of refractory property of light, the travel path of UV light becomes longer than the straight line and shorter solely in water as UV light passes sequentially through air, quartz and water. Note that water significantly absorbs UV light. Hence, UV intensity shall be estimated to be lower when refraction is neglected than it is considered. Reflection is also critical for the design of UV radiation system. While the reflection at the interface of air and quartz is low enough to ignore, it is too high to be ignored at the interface of quartz and water. Assuming constant power, smaller length to width ratio of UV reactor is beneficial and single-lamp system is preferred to multi-lamps. Under the given cross section, optimal lamp positions could be decided. For example of an elliptical reactor with dual lamps, the optimal lamp locations shall be the 1/3 and 2/3 position of the longer axis.

  • A reflection type SEED from LP-MOCVD grown InGaAs/GaAs ESQW structures, with 5% In fraction, has been fabricated and its basic characteristics were investigated. Its intrinsic region consists of 50 pairs of alternating $100{\AA}$ $In_{0.05}Ga_{0.95}As$ barrier and $100{\AA}$ GaAs layers. And a multilayer reflector stack of $Al_{0.12}Ga_{0.88}As(641{\AA})-/AlAs(774{\AA})$ was vertically integrated below the p-i-n structures. The device processing includes the mesa etching, insulator deposition, indium metallization, and thermal alloy for Ohmic contact. Photocurrent spectrum measurement showed the exciton absorption peak at 905nm and availability as a optical switching device. This device showed a contrast ratio of 2:1 by the reflectance spectrum measurement.

  • 공진되는 개구와 비공진 개구로 구성되는 두 가지 형태의 FSS 구조에 대해 전부 투과되는 응답을 비교 연구하였다. 입사파가 전부 투과할 때 공진 개구의 FSS 구조는 파장 ${\lambda}$ 대 배열 주기 T의 비에 대해 비공진 개구의 FSS인 경우보다 더 큰 비를 가짐을 알 수 있었고, 또한 동작 주파수는 공진 구조를 이용함에 의해 상당히 낮출 수 있다. 이러한 물리적 상황은 현재 물리학 분야에서 널리 연구되고 있는 공진형의 특이한 광투과 현상과 유사한 성질을 지닌다고 사료된다.

반사형 LCD를 위한 홀로그래픽 반사판의 제작 (Fabrication of a holographic reflector for reflective LCDs)

  • DuPont 社의 광폴리머를 홀로그램 기록매질로 사용하여, 반사형 LCD에 적용할수 있는 단색의 홀로그래픽 반사판을 설계 및 제작하였다. 홀로그램 동작파장을 514nm로 하여 기록함으로써, 녹색 영역에서 가장 밝은 이미지를 구현할 수 있었다. 이미지의 방행을 표면방사와 분이시킴으로써 높은 콘트라스트 미를 얻을수 있는데, 제작한 홀로그래픽 반사판을 TN-LC cell에 적용하여, 6:1의 on/off 콘트라스트 비를 얻었다.
