  • Computer graphics(CG) is being important technique in media contents such as movie and TV. Especially, face replacement technique which replaces the faces between different images have been studied as a typical technology of CG by academia and researchers for a long time. In this paper, we propose the face replacement method between target and reference images under different illumination environment without 3D model. In experiments, we verified that the proposed method could naturally replace the faces between reference and target images under different illumination condition.

  • This paper presents a phase-only modulation scheme for a three-dimensional (3-D) image matching system to improve optical efficiency of the system. The 3-D image matching system is based on the two mask heterodyne scanning. A hologram of the 3-D reference object is first created and then the phase of the hologram is extracted. The phase of the hologram is represented as one mask with the other mask being a plane wave. The superposition of each beam modulated by the two masks generated a scanning beam pattern. This beam pattern scans the 3-D target object to be recognized. The output of the scanning system gives out the correlation of the phase-only hologram of the reference object and the complex hologram of the target object. Since a hologram contains 3-D information of an object as a form of fringe pattern, the correlation of holograms matches whole 3-D aspect of the objects. Computer simulations are performed with additive gaussian noise and without noise for the complex hologram modulation scheme and the phase-only hologram modulation scheme. The computer simulation results show that the phase-only hologram modulation scheme improves the optical efficiency. Thus the system with the phase-only hologram modulation scheme is more robust than the system with the complex hologram modulation scheme.

  • The development and introduction of a Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship (MASS) are some of the most important changes leading to the fourth industrial era in the maritime area. The term 'MASS' refers to a ship operating independently, without human intervention, to reduce maritime accidents caused by human errors. Recent UK findings MASS also noted that particularly the dynamic positioning system will be considered to apply as newly function to a MASS. The DP system, a ship system developed decades ago and used for specific purposes like offshore operations, provides various functions to facilitate the accurate movements of the vessel, and operators can make decisions within the DP system, in addition to the ordinary ship system. In this paper, it would like to present the connection and application method with the main technical elements of the DP system in connection with the main technology of the DP system to achieve the safe operation of a MASS. In particular, among various position reference systems, the capability plot function of DP system, and the "follow target" mode in the operation mode are attractive functions that can contribute to the safe operation of autonomous ships.

  • In order to solve the problem of false terrains caused by environmental interferences and tunneling effect in the conventional multi-beam seafloor terrain detection, this paper proposed a seafloor topography detection method based on fast two-dimensional (2D) Censored Mean Level Detector-statistics Constant False Alarm Rate (CMLD-CFAR) method. The proposed method uses s cross-sliding window. The target occlusion phenomenon that occurs in multi-target environments can be eliminated by censoring some of the large cells of the reference cells, while the remaining reference cells are used to calculate the local threshold. The conventional 2D CMLD-CFAR methods need to estimate the background clutter power level for every pixel, thus increasing the computational burden significantly. In order to overcome this limitation, the proposed method uses a fast algorithm to select the Regions of Interest (ROI) based on a global threshold, while the rest pixels are distinguished as clutter directly. The proposed method is verified by experiments with real multi-beam data. The results show that the proposed method can effectively solve the problem of false terrain in a multi-beam terrain survey and achieve a high detection accuracy.

  • The ground positions and elevations information called DEMs(Digital Elevation Models) which are extracted from the stereo aerial photographs and/or satellite images using image matching method have the natural errors caused by variant environments. This study suggests the method to evaluate DEMs using correlation values between the reference and the target DEMs. This would be strongly helpful for experts to correct these errors. To evaluate the whole area of DEMs in the horizontal and vertical errors, the target cell is matched for each reference cell using the correlation values of these two cells. When the target cell is matched for each reference cell, horizontal and vertical error was calculated so as to help experts to recognize a certain area of DEMs which should be corrected and edited. If the correlation value is low and tile difference in height is high, the target cell will be candidated as changed or corrupted cell. When the area is clustered with those candidated cells, that area will be regarded as changed or corrupted area to be corrected and edited. Using this method, the evaluation for all DEM cells is practicable, the horizontal errors as well as vertical errors is calculable and the changed or corrupted area can be detected more efficiently.

  • A comprehensive SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) simulation is considered to be a complicated task since a full knowledge of the signal propagation characteristics, antenna pattern, system internal errors and interference noises should be taken into account. In high resolution target application modes, the time varying nature of target RCS(Radar Cross Section) strongly affects the generated SAR images. In this paper, in-depth SAR simulations are performed and analyzed incorporating the STK tools and MATLAB software. STK provides realistic orbit parameters while its radar module helps to extract accurate radiometric parameters of ground targets. SAR raw data corresponding to a given target is generated and processed using MATLAB simulator. The performance is measured by PSLR(Peak Sidelobe Ratio) and ISLR(Integrated Sidelobe Ratio) for a point target, which can be used as reference parameters for accurate radiometric calibration. Finally, high resolution target simulations are performed by adopting time varying target RCS characteristics.

  • The target performance of a current seismic design code is to achieve collapse-prevention in order to minimize casualties. Existing structures are also being retrofitted to meet this target performance. This seismic performance seems to have been achieved in recent great overseas earthquakes, but the accompanying enormous economic loss is pointed out as a new problem. A new seismic design concept over the current target performance is required to reduce economic loss, in which a target performance is determined by the damage probability in order to control the damage levels of structures. In this study, the seismic behavior of bridges having different characteristics was investigated by nonlinear seismic analyses, and fragility curves with respect to a reference damage level were derived. Based on these results, the characteristics of target ductilities satisfying a target damage probability were investigated.

  • This paper proposes a new bandgap reference (BGR) circuit which takes advantage of a cascode current mirror biasing to reduce the V$\_$ref/ variation, and sizing technique, which utilizes two related ratio numbers k and N, to reduce the PNP BJT area. The proposed BGR is designed and fabricated on a test chip with a goal to provide a reference voltage to the 10 bit A/D(4-4-4 pipeline architecture) converter of the CMOS Active Pixel Sensor (APS) imager to be used in X-ray imaging. The basic temperature variation effect on V$\_$ref/ of the BGR has a maximum delta of 6 mV over the temperature range of 25$^{\circ}C$ to 70$^{\circ}C$. To verify that the proposed BGR has radiation hardness for the X-ray imaging application, total ionization dose (TID) effect under Co-60 exposure conditions has been evaluated. The measured V$\_$ref/ variation under the radiation condition has a maximum delta of 33 mV over the range of 0 krad to 100 krad. For the given voltage, temperature, and radiation, the BGR has been satisfied well within the requirement of the target 10 bit A/D converter.

  • The existing image quality assessment (IQA) datasets have a small number of samples. Some methods based on transfer learning or data augmentation cannot make good use of image quality-related features. A No Reference (NR)-IQA method based on multi-task training and quality awareness is proposed. First, single or multiple distortion types and levels are imposed on the original image, and different strategies are used to augment different types of distortion datasets. With the idea of weak supervision, we use the Full Reference (FR)-IQA methods to obtain the pseudo-score label of the generated image. Then, we combine the classification information of the distortion type, level, and the information of the image quality score. The ResNet50 network is trained in the pre-train stage on the augmented dataset to obtain more quality-aware pre-training weights. Finally, the fine-tuning stage training is performed on the target IQA dataset using the quality-aware weights to predicate the final prediction score. Various experiments designed on the synthetic distortions and authentic distortions datasets (LIVE, CSIQ, TID2013, LIVEC, KonIQ-10K) prove that the proposed method can utilize the image quality-related features better than the method using only single-task training. The extracted quality-aware features improve the accuracy of the model.
