A Fast Algorithm for Target Detection in High Spatial Resolution Imagery

  • Detection and identification of targets from remotely sensed imagery are of great interest for civilian and military application. This paper presents an algorithm for target detection in high spatial resolution imagery based on the spectral and the dimensional characteristics of the reference target. In this algorithm, the spectral and the dimensional information of the reference target is extracted automatically from the sample image of the reference target. Then in the entire image, the candidate target pixels are extracted based on the spectral characteristics of the reference target. Finally, groups of candidate pixels which form isolated spatial objects of similar size to that of the reference target are extracted as detected targets. The experimental test results showed that even though the algorithm detected spatial objects which has different shape as targets if the spectral and the dimensional characteristics are similar to that of the reference target, it could detect 97.5% of the targets in the image. Using hyperspectral image and utilizing the shape information are expected to increase the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • 추적 눈 운동 동안에 순간적으로 노출되는 표적의 위치는 표적 주위에 참조자극이 존재하지 않을 때에 일반적으로 눈 운동 방향으로 왜곡되어 지각된다. 본 연구는 안정적이고 정적인 참조자극이 존재하는 경우에 순간적으로 노출되는 표적의 참조자극에 대한 상대적인 위치가 얼마나 정확하게 지각되는지를 검증하였다. 참조자극에 대한 표적의 상대적인 위치가 왜곡되게 지각되었으며 상대적인 위치 지각 왜곡의 양상이 참조자극과 표적의 상대적인 위치에 따라서 체계적으로 변화하였다. 동일한 실험결과가 추적 눈 운동의 방향이 상이하거나 참조자극과 표적의 다양한 물리적인 거리 조건에서도 일관되게 관찰되었다. 본 연구의 실험결과가 위치지각에 관하여 제안된 기존의 이론에 의해 어떻게 설명될 수 있는지를 논의하였다.

참조 이미지를 이용한 과장된 카투닝 (Exaggerated Cartooning using a Reference Image)

  • 본 논문에서는 입력 대상 이미지를 만화와 같은 영상으로 만드는 방법으로 참조 이미지를 사용하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문은 미리 정의된 참조 이미지를 사용하여 대상을 변형한다. 이를 위하여 통적 외형 모델(AAM)을 사용하여 대상 이미지로부터 특징점을 추출하고, 추출된 특징점과 선택된 참조 이미지의 특징점을 기준으로 대상 이미지를 와핑(warping)한다. 변형된 대상 이미지를 추상화(abstraction)한 뒤, 에지를 추출하고 명도 영역을 양자화(quantization)하는 것으로 만화와 같은 단순화된 결과 이미지를 생성한다. 과장되어 표현된 만화 스타일 이미지를 참조 이미지로 사용하는 것으로 만화의 두 주요한 특징인 과장된 표현과 단순화가 같이 적용된 결과 이미지틀 생성할 수 있다. 본 논문의 방법은 대상 이미지의 변형 정도를 조절하거나 변형에 사용할 참조 이미지를 바꾸는 것으로 다양하게 표현된 결과를 생성하는 것이 가능하다.

기준표적상의 미세구조가 초음파 후방산란에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Microstructure on Reference Target on Ultrasonic Backscattering)

  • This paper is based on our comments and proposed amendments to the documents, Annex A, Phantom for determining Maximum Depth of Penetration, and Annex B, Local Dynamic Range Using Acoustical Test Objects 87/400/CDV. IEC 61391-2 Ed. 1.0 200X, prepared by IEC technical Committee 87; Ultrasonics. The documents are concerned with the influence of microstructure of reference target material on the ultrasonic backscattering. Previous works on the attenuation due to backreflection and backscattering of reference target materials are reviewed. The drawback to the use of ungraded stainless steel and metallic materials without microstructural data such as, crystal structure, basic acoustic data of sound velocity and attenuation, grain size, roughness and elastic constants has been discussed. The analysis suggested that the insightful conclusion can be made by differentiating the influence arising from target size and microstructure on the backscattering measurements. The microstructural parameters are associated with physical, geometrical, acoustical and mechanical origins of variation with frequency. Further clarification of such a diverse source mechanisms for ultrasonic backscattering would make the target material and its application for medical diagnosis and therapy simpler and more reliable.

Iodine-131 S values for use in organ dose estimation of Korean patients in radioiodine therapy

  • In the present study, iodine-131 S values (rT ← thyroid) were calculated for 30 target organs and tissues using the most recently developed Korean reference computational phantoms. The calculated S values were then compared with those of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) reference computational phantoms to investigate the dosimetric impact of the Korean S values against those of the ICRP reference phantoms. The results showed significant differences in the S values due to the different anatomical/morphological characteristics between the Korean and ICRP reference phantoms. Most target organs/tissues showed that the S values of the Korean reference phantoms are lower than those of the ICRP reference phantoms, by up to about 4 times (male spleen and female thymus). Exceptionally, three target organs/tissues (gonads, thyroid, and extrathoracic region) showed that the S values of the Korean reference phantoms are greater, by 1.5-3.7 times. We expect that the S values calculated in the present study will be beneficially used to estimate organ/tissue doses of Korean patients under radioiodine therapy.

  • A new recognition method is used to find the three-dimensional target object on integral imaging. For finding the location of a target image, amount of reconstructed reference image is needed. This method is giving accurate information of target image by correlated among reconstructed target images and reference images.

  • This paper presents a design scheme of torque control for wheeled mobile robot(WMR) to asymptotically track the target reference trajectory. By considering the kinematic model of WMR, trajectory tracking control generates the desired tracking trajectory, which is transformed into the command velocity vector for the real WMR to track the target reference trajectory. The dynamic equation of the state error between the target reference trajectory and the desired tracking trajectory is represented by Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model, and this model is used as the reference model for the real mobile robot error dynamics to follow. The control parameters are updated by adaptive laws that are designed for the error states of the real WMR to asymptotically follow the states of reference error model for the desired tracking trajectory. The proposed control is applied to a typical wheeled mobile robot and simulation studies are carried out to verify the validity and effectiveness of the control scheme.

  • 본 연구는 기록관의 정보서비스에 마케팅 전략이 도입될 필요가 있다는 것을 제언하기 위한 것이다. 특히 현대의 기업 마케팅 전략으로 사용되고 있는 표적 마케팅은 고객만족을 위한 시장세분화를 기반으로 이루어지는데, 기록관이 이용자 요구에 부합하는 서비스를 계획하고 개발하여, 이용자 집단에 촉진시키기 위하여 표적마케팅의 시장세분화 전략이 도입될 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 기록관이 이용자를 세분하기 위하여 인구통계적 변수와 지리적 변순 심리적 변수 및 이용변수(이용목적, 조사의도, 질문유형, 지식수준, 관심주제, 이용빈도)를 활용하고, 이들 변수를 활용한 세분화를 위하여 기록이용자에 대한 데이터를 적극적으로 수집할 필요가 있음을 제언하였다.

Comparison of Edge Localization Performance of Moment-Based Operators Using Target Image Data

  • This paper presents a method to evaluate the performance of subpixel localization operators using target image data. Subpixel localization of edges is important to extract the precise shape of objects from images. In this study, each target image was designed to provide reference lines and edges to which the localization operators can be applied. We selected two types of moment-based operators: Gray-level Moment (GM) operator and Spatial Moment (SM) operator for comparison. The original edge localization operators with kernel size 5 are tested and their extended versions with kernel size 7 are also tested. Target images were collected with varying Camera-to-Object Distance (COD). From the target images, reference lines are estimated and edge profiles along the estimated reference lines are accumulated. Then, evaluation of the performance of edge localization operators was performed by comparing the locations calculated by each operator and by superimposing them on edge profiles. Also, enhancement of edge localization by increasing the kernel size was also quantified. The experimental result shows that the SM operator whose kernel size is 7 provides higher accuracy than other operators implemented in this study.
