Characteristics of Pt-Ru Catalyst Supported on Activated Carbon for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell

  • The Pt-Ru/Carbon as an anode catalyst supported on the commercial activated carbon (AC) having high surface area and micropore was characterized for application of Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC). The Pt-Ru/AC anode catalyst used in this experiment showed the performance of $600\;mA/cm^2$ current density at 0.3 V. The borohydride reduction process using $NaBH_4$, denoted as a process A, showed much higher current and power densities than process B prepared by changing the reduction and washing process of process A. The particle sizes are strongly affected by the reduction process than the specific surface area of raw active carbon and the sizes are almost constant when the specific surface area of carbon are over than the $1200\;m^2/g$. Smaller particle size of catalyst and more narrow intercrystalite distance increased the performance of DMFC.

  • Weather strip is a functional component of a car body and doors for leaking protection, isolating outside noise and vibration reduction. Insert metal inserted to the weather strip plays a key role to keep the shape of the weather strip and increase its strength. Insert metal is mainly produced by a press process, which has low productivity and 40% material loss due to the scraps. To solve the problems, a high-speed rolling process for manufacturing the insert metal of weather strip is being attempted. In this study, the insert metal is manufactured by a high-speed rolling process, and its process variables: reduction, relative velocity of rollers and the number of passes, are optimized by using the FEA and the actual tests. The prototype was manufactured by the optimal process.

  • 방사성 폐기물 소각기술 개발 자립의 일환으로 한국에너지연구소에서는 실험용 방사성폐기물 소각공정을 설치하여 운전중에 있다. 이 공정은 소각경험의 습득 및 소각 특성 시험, 여과기의 성능시험 등을 위하여 설치되었다. 종이와 폴리에틸렌 모의폐기물을 소각하여 공정의 경제성과 운전성을 나타내는 감용비과 제염계수를 결정하였다. 제염계수로부터 소각설비의 허용 비방사능치를 얻어내고 설비의 감용비를 산출하는 방법을 기술하였다. 실험용 소각공정에서의 가연성 폐기물에 함유된 핵종에 대한 인수기준치를 상기방법을 이용하여 제시하여 보았다.

  • Cross wedge rolling process is utilized to manufacture multi-stepped axis symmetrical parts. This process is generally performed under high temperature conditions in order to induce serious deformation. But cold cross wedge rolling process has been rarely studied due to the limits of deformation. Recently, the cold cross wedge rolling process has been utilized to enhance the material strength in specified parts of manufactured products. In this paper, experimental researches were carried out with various forming conditions of cold cross wedge rolling process in order to suggest the design guidance to make preform for cold cross wedge rolling. The tensile strength and the surface hardness of specified region were compared to that of initial material with the variation of the area reduction and the rotational speed of rolling die. With respect to the area reduction, the maximum tensile strength was linearly increased and the surface hardness was rapidly increased within lower percent of area reduction. The surface hardness was saturated over the rotational die speed of 0.8 RPM.

증기의 감온·감압과정에서의 엑서지 손실 및 저감방안 분석 (The Analysis on Exergy Loss and its Reduction Methods in Steam Desuperheating and Depressurizing Process)

  • The present paper presented and applied an exergy analysis method to evaluate the magnitudes and the locations of exergy losses in the conventional desuperheating and depressurizing process of high pressure and temperature steam delivery system. In addition, for the reduction of exergy losses occurred in conventional process, the present study proposed new alternative processes in which the pressure reducing valve and the desuperheater of conventional process are substituted with steam turbine and heat exchanger, and their effects on exergy loss reduction and exergy efficiency improvement are theoretically investigated and compared. From the present analysis results, the total exergy loss caused in conventional desuperheating and depressurizing process accounted for 66.5% of exergy input and 85% of the total exergy loss was due to the mixing between steam and cold water(e.g desuperheating). However, it was shown from the present analysis results that the present alternative processes can additionally reduce exergy loss by maximum 92.7% of the total exergy loss in conventional process, and can also produce additional and useful energy, the electricity of 220.6 kWh and the heat of 54.3 MJ/hr.

제강분진의 건식 처리기술 현황 (Status of Pyrometallurgical Treatment Technology of EAF Dust)

  • 전기로 제강분진은 아연, 연, 철의 2차자원으로서 매우 중요하다. 또한 제강분진의 리싸이클링은 분진 중에 함유되어 있는 증금속 성분 등의 유해원소에 의한 환경문제의 처리에 유용한 방법이다. 본 조사는 기존의 전기로 제강분진을 처리하는 방법의 개선이나 새로운 처리방법의 개발을 위해 건식처리 방법에 대하여 알아보았다. 상업중인 처리방법은 노의 형상 등에 따라 로터리 킬른형, 회전노상형, 샤프트형, 용융환원로형 등으로 구분할 수 있었다. 이러한 처리에서의 생성물은 ZnO와 환원철 또는 슬래그이다. 제강분진으로부터 ZnO를 만드는 기구는 탄소 열환원과 공기에 의한 아연증기의 산화에 의한 것이다.

  • Micro Cellular Plastics create a sensation at polymer industrial for lowering product cost & overcoming a lowering of mechanical intensity. Reduction of MCPs cell size increases the intensity of MCPs. This research based on the experiment about cell size reduction method. At this study, Quenching & Pressure foaming process are introduced to one of methods. Conclusion of study is that Quenching process is the simplest process for nano cell formation.

  • Concomitant fracture of medial tubercle of posterior process and lateral process of the talus has not been reported in Korean literature. Association between fracture of lateral and posterior process of talus is not clear. We treated with open reduction and screw fixation in fracture of lateral process and with excision of fragment of posteromedial tubercle of posterior process with satisfying result.

산화물 수소환원에 의한 W-Ni-Fe 나노복합분말의 합성과 특성 (Synthesis and Characteristics of W-Ni-Fe Nanocomposite Powder by Hydrogen Reduction of Oxides)

  • The synthesis and characteristics of W-Ni-Fe nanocomposite powder by hydrogen reduction of ball milled W-Ni-Fe oxide mixture were investigated. The ball milled oxide mixture was prepared by high energy attrition milling of W blue powder, NiO and $Fe_2O_3$ for 1 h. The structure of the oxide mixture was characteristic of nano porous agglomerate composite powder consisting of nanoscale particles and pores which act as effective removal path of water vapor during hydrogen reduction process. The reduction experiment showed that the reduction reaction starts from NiO, followed by $Fe_2O_3$ and finally W oxide. It was also found that during the reduction process rapid alloying of Ni-Fe yielded the formation of $\gamma$-Ni-Fe. After reduction at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, the nano-composite powder of W-4.57Ni-2.34Fe comprising W and $\gamma$-Ni-Fe phases was produced, of which grain size was35nm for W and 87 nm for $\gamma$-Ni-Fe, respectively. Sinterability of the W heavy alloy nanopowder showing full density and sound microstructure under the condition of 147$0^{\circ}C$/20 min is thought to be suitable for raw material for powder injection molding of tungsten heavy alloy.

Asymptotic Properties of Variance Change-point in the Long-memory Process

  • It is noted that many econometric time series have long-memory properties. A long-memory process, or strongly dependent process, is characterized by hyperbolic decaying autocorrelations and unbounded spectral density at the origin. Since the long-memory property can be observed by data obtained from rather a long period, there is some possibility of parameter change in the process. In this paper, we consider the estimation of change-point when there is a change in the variance of a long-memory process. The estimator is based on some reasonable statistic and the consistency is shown using Taqqu's strong reduction theorem
