The Cheongdocheon has the reaches under reduction of stream flow. We analysed the cause of the reduction. We investigated the current status of facilities for agricultural water use. We also compared the discharge measurements with the results from the continuous simulation of watershed runoff The satellite image was a tool to find some reaches of stream flow reduction under doubt. Agricultural reservoirs block up the stream and water does not flow over the reservoirs except by storm. They also discharge water through diversion channels and the water diverted does not flow through the natural stream. Farmers directly take water from the stream by weirs. The infiltration gallery of water below the stream ground makes the reach dryness perfect in Kamakchon. These are causes of the stream flow reduction. The discharge measurements are less than the simulation results of watershed runoff, and we guess that the reaches investigated have dried. We found the reaches of stream flow reduction that were under doubt from some KOMPSAT satellite images with the resolution of 6.6 m. Then, we confirmed the reduction of stream flow by a field investigation. All the above reaches have infiltration galleries of water below the stream ground. The research results are a case study on the cause analysis on the reduction of stream flow. One can obtain the KOMPSAT image for a low price and can get prior information to find the doubtful reach of stream flow reduction.
In this paper, we present two successful results from active controls of flows over a circular cylinder and a sphere for drag reduction. The Reynolds number range considered for the flow over a circular cylinder is 40-3900 based on the free-stream velocity and cylinder diameter, whereas for the flow over a sphere it is $10^{5}$ based on the free-stream velocity and sphere diameter. The successful active control methods are a distributed (spatially periodic) forcing and a high-frequency (time periodic) forcing. With these control methods, the mean drag and lift fluctuations decrease and vortical structures are significantly modified. For example, the time-periodic forcing at a high frequency (larger than 20 times the vortex shedding frequency) produces $50{\%}$ drag reduction for the flow over a sphere at $Re=10^{5}$. The distributed forcing applied to the flow over a circular cylinder results in a significant drag reduction at all the Reynolds numbers investigated.

This study was performed for the analysis of the variation characteristics on riverbed according to the arrangement of stream. It was monitored of the variation progress of riverbed dependent on the elapsed time after the arrangement and It was studied that the hydraulic adjustment of the riverbed caused by the variation of the riverbed. The large amount of deposit just after the construction in which the riverbed was arranged to natural form was come from the reduction of flow rate by the installed artificialities such as weirs and stone weirs and by the stones or the concrete blocks attached to the stream sides of riverbanks. This phenomenon was well consistent with the usual characteristics that the accumulation is induced on upper stream of hydraulic artificialities and the erosion is induced on down stream of hydraulic artificialities. The large reduction of the deposit 1 year later after the construction showed that the riverbed eroded considerably because of the recovery of flow amount and the rise of flow rate.

This paper outlines extraction potential of tidal stream resources from the simplified channel in which flow is driven by a head difference between inlet and outlet. Energy extraction alters the flow within a simple channel, and extraction of 10% energy flux in a natural channel would give rise to a flow speed reduction of about 5.7%.
This paper aims to assessing impact of reduction of non-point source pollution in the Bokha Stream watershed. The BASINS/HSPF model was calibrated and verified for water flow and water qualities using Total Maximum Daily Load 8days data from 2006 to 2007. Accuracy of the BASINS/HSPF models in simulating hydrology and water quality was compared and there were somewhat differences of statistical results, but water flow and water quality were simulated in good conditions over the study period. The applicability of models was tested to evaluate non-point source control scenarios to response hydrology and water quality in the Bokha stream using various measures which include BMPs approach and change of landuse. The evaluation of reduction of non-point source pollution was developed using load-duration curve. Despite strong reduction of non-point source, there are not satiated target quality at low flow season.

Cheonggyecheon, covered and Paved with concretes for about more than 50 years, is a losing stream crossing over the downtown of Seoul, Korea. Due to several environmental and economic Problems about the Cheonggyecheon area, the Cheonggyecheon restoration construction has started in 2003. In restoration of Cheonggyecheon, hydraulic barriers are to be installed so as to reduce stream depletion rates for maintaining the stream flow with supplying a certain amount of water. This study evaluates the groundwater-stream interaction by analyzing stream depletion rates of Cheonggyecheon. Results show that significant stream depletion occurs at the up-midstream where the Seoul subway lines are concentrated. Simulation results demonstrate that both horizontal and vertical hydraulic barriers impeding groundwater flow into subway lines are more efficient than a horizontal barrier only for stream depletion rate reduction.

The purpose of this study are to insure flow rate for rural stream in the rural area. The analysis of drying stream characteristics for two streams(Bong-mu, Wang-jang stream) from field survey data. Also, a study area has been determined, and criteria of estimation has been established : criteria such as, available hydrological data, the size of stream lengths and basin areas and regional characteristics. The spacial analysis is applied to stream slopes for upstream and downstream at weirs, stream networks and ground water pump stations, sinuosity of drying stream. As a result of drying streams survey analysis, drying stream characteristics are followed; levee types are earth and natural, cross sectional shapes are trapezoid, stream bed materials are gravels and sands, facilities in streams are weirs. The cause of the reduction analyzed by investigation of the current status of facilities for agricultural water use. Agricultural reservoirs block up the stream and water does not flow over the reservoirs except by storm. They also discharge water through diversion channels and the water diverted does not flow through the natural stream. Farmers directly take water from the stream by weirs.

This study aims to evaluate future stream flow by the operation of agricultural reservoir group at the upper stream of the Miho River. Four agricultural reservoirs with storage capacities greater than one million cubic meters within the watershed were selected, and the RCP 8.5 climate change scenario was applied to simulate reservoir water storage and stream flow assuming that there are no changes in greenhouse gas reduction. Reservoir operation scenarios were classified into four types depending on the supply of instream flow, and the water supply reliability of each reservoir in terms of water supply under different reservoir operation scenarios was analyzed. In addition, flow duration at the watershed outlet was evaluated. The results showed that the overall run-off ratio of the upper stream watershed of the Miho River will decrease in the future. The future water supply reliability of the reservoirs decreased even when they did not supply instream flow during their operation. It would also be difficult to supply instream flow during non-irrigation periods or throughout the year (January-December); however, operating the reservoir based on the operating rule curve should improve the water supply reliability. In particular, when instream flow was not supplied, high flow increased, and when it was supplied, abundant flow, ordinary flow, and low flow increased. Drought flow increased when instream flow was supplied throughout the year. Therefore, the operation of the agricultural reservoirs in accordance with the operating rule curve is expected to increase stream flow by controlling the water supply to cope with climate change.

In analyzing the plastic flow of axisymmetric tube extrusion a new method of formulation using the stream function approach and upper-bound theorem is proposed which permits the prediction of plastically deformed zone in analytic expression as well as metal flow. It is shown that the formulation proposed in this work covers the solid extrusion and tube extrusion in axisymmetric case. The effect of some process parameters such as area reduction, the ratio of radii(inner radius to outer radius) and friction factor on extrusion pressure, deformation zone and plastic flow through stream-lined dies has been studied. The presented theoretical analysis can be effectively used for the prediction of deformation zone and plastic flow.
Current urban stream conditions and their restoration projects were investigated by surveying the urban stream management experts in 29 cities with high population density (more than 1,000person/$km^{2}$). The survey results showed that the ratio of covered urban streams decreased by 1.4% (from 14% to 12.6%) in the last 5 years through steady river restoration projects promoted by governments. Nonetheless, 36.3% of 369 urban streams surveyed still report stream depletion problems; therefore, more efforts to alleviate the problems caused by distorted water circulation of urban streams are still necessary. Water depletion in many local urban streams, unlike national rivers, is accelerated due to negligence in stream management, budget shortage, and other reasons. To prevent stream depletion, the use of reclaimed water is suggested as one of the prevention plans. When available amounts of reused sewage are estimated through actual available nationwide sewage discharges of each watershed and instream flow of stream, annual instream flow supply of 780 million $m^{3}$ is expected; 4.8% reduction in the pollution load of public sewer treatment facilities is expected; and the creation of new value through water reuse service is expected. Thus, it is important for the reviews of feasibility and alternatives of water reuse projects for flow augmentation to consider not only investment budget reductions, but also environmental aspects. Also it is necessary to provide the financial support of unified government with strict water quality management policy.
