The application of Monte Carlo (MC) to large-scale fixed-source problems has recently become possible with new hybrid methods that automate generation of parameters for variance reduction techniques. Two common variance reduction techniques, weight windows and source biasing, have been automated and popularized by the consistent adjoint-driven importance sampling (CADIS) method. This method uses the adjoint solution from an inexpensive deterministic calculation to define a consistent set of weight windows and source particles for a subsequent MC calculation. One of the motivations for source consistency is to avoid the splitting or rouletting of particles at birth, which requires computational resources. However, it is not always possible or desirable to implement such consistency, which results in inconsistent source biasing. This paper develops an original framework that mathematically expresses the coupling of the weight window and source biasing techniques, allowing the authors to explore the impact of inconsistent source sampling on the variance of MC results. A numerical experiment supports this new framework and suggests that certain classes of problems may be relatively insensitive to inconsistent source sampling schemes with moderate levels of splitting and rouletting.
This paper deals with some useful methods of solving the one-dimensional integral equation of Fredholm type. Application of the reduction techniques with a view to inverting a class of integral equation with Lauricella function in the kernel, Riemann-Liouville fractional integral operators as well as Weyl operators have been made to reduce to this class to generalized Stieltjes transform and inversion of which yields solution of the integral equation. Use of Mellin transform technique has also been made to solve the Fredholm integral equation pertaining to certain polynomials and H-functions.

This thesis is proposing novel RPWM (Random PWM) techniques that can locate PWM pulse to do random. RPWM techniques to propose locates SVPWM (Space Vector PWM) pulse by number of each random and principle to locate of pulse applies different random function and locate pulse. For propriety verification of proposed techniques, achieve an simulation and experiment that use MATLAB/SIMULINK about proposed RPWM techniques algorithm and IGBT inverter composition that use DSP(TMS320C31). Specially, analyze harmonic spectra of inverter output current when the induction motor speed is more than 10,000 rpm, confirm that RPWM's effect in high speed degree appears. Proposed RPWM techniques propriety prove from reduction effect of harmonic magnitude that corresponds to an integer times of switching frequency.
Purpose: This study aimed to explore and understand the experience of decision making among women undergoing or forgoing selective fetal reduction who have higher-order multiple pregnancies through assisted reproductive techniques. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted from August 1, to October 30, 2013. Eight participants were interviewed and the interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Six persons participated in in-depth interviews in person and two participated over the telephone. A thematic analysis was conducted. Results: Four themes were identified and carefully named: Confusion after higher-order multiple pregnancy; Obstacles to choice: Uncertain safety; Weighing between reality and ideality and; Influences of medical professionals. Conclusion: The results demonstrated a wide range of factors considered by women when making decisions about selective fetal reduction, and mothers' feelings of conflict and distress in the decision-making process. The results suggest that it is important for nurses to provide emotional support and consolation, in addition to sufficient information. These findings will help nurses improve their counseling techniques by understanding the situation of infertile couples.

Clustering analysis is widely used in data mining to classify data into categories on the basis of their similarity. Through the decades, many clustering techniques have been developed, including hierarchical and non-hierarchical algorithms. In gene profiling problems, because of the large number of genes and the complexity of biological networks, dimensionality reduction techniques are critical exploratory tools for clustering analysis of gene expression data. Recently, clustering analysis of applying dimensionality reduction techniques was also proposed. PCA (principal component analysis) is a popular methd of dimensionality reduction techniques for clustering problems. However, previous studies analyzed the performance of PCA for only full data sets. In this paper, to specifically and robustly evaluate the performance of PCA for clustering analysis, we exploit an improved FCBF (fast correlation-based filter) of feature selection methods for supervised clustering data sets, and employ two well-known clustering algorithms: k-means and k-medoids. Computational results from supervised data sets show that the performance of PCA is very poor for large-scale features.

Macroglossia can cause dentomusculoskeletal deformities, instability of orthodontic and orthognathic surgical treatment, and create masticatory, speech and airway management problems. To determine whether a reduction glossectomy is necessary, it will important to identify the signs and symptoms of macroglossia. Development of dentoskeletal changes directly related with tongue size, such as an anterior open bite or a Angle Class III malocclusion tendency, would indicate that reduction glossectomy may be beneficial. For reduction glossectomy, several techniques have been reported. However, in most techniques the tip of tongue is removed. So its excision causes the loss of most mobile and sensitive portion of the tongue, and creates ankylosed, globular tongue. To avoid such problems, central tongue reduction technique have been proposed. This article will introduce central tongue reduction for anterior openbite case associated with macroglossia.
The flood or inundation that occur in high-density city can paralyze urban functions and cause a lot of casualties. In this study, to minimize the damage, the disaster mitigating urban design techniques for the divided basin as disaster occurring point, disaster vulnerable site, urban responding region are applied. First of all, to do this, it is necessary to verify the effectiveness of urban design techniques by simulating them. Therefore, in this paper, the applicability of urban runoff models used in domestic disaster reduction study was investigated to analyze the outflow decrease efficiency of urban design techniques. As the reviewing results, the limitations of the lumped models such as FFC2Q and XP-SWMM are presented.

Identification of energy use patterns in buildings has a great opportunity for energy saving. To find what energy use patterns exist, clustering analysis has been commonly used such as K-means and hierarchical clustering method. In case of high dimensional data such as energy use time-series, data reduction should be considered to avoid the curse of dimensionality. Principle Component Analysis, Autocorrelation Function, Discrete Fourier Transform and Discrete Wavelet Transform have been widely used to map the original data into the lower dimensional spaces. However, there still remains an ongoing issue since the performance of clustering analysis is dependent on data type, purpose and application. Therefore, we need to understand which data reduction techniques are suitable for energy use management. This research aims find the best clustering method using energy use data obtained from Seoul National University campus. The results of this research show that most experiments with data reduction techniques have a better performance. Also, the results obtained helps facility managers optimally control energy systems such as HVAC to reduce energy use in buildings.

A variety of reduction labiaplasty techniques have been introduced to date, but no single technique will offer the optimal solution for every patient. Rather, the technique should be chosen based on anatomical, configurational, and technical considerations, as well as on patients' personal preferences regarded maintenance of the labial rim, maintenance of labial sensitivity, and prevention of iatrogenic thickening of the labium. We reviewed, defined, and assessed labial configurational variety, neurovascular supply, reduction techniques, and patient's preferences as the considerations relevant to the choice of labiaplasty technique. Based on this review, an algorithm was constructed that leads to a choice of reduction technique through five decisions to be made regarding (1) resection or (partial) retention of the labial free rim, (2) the measure of required labial width reduction, (3) labial vascular status, (4) prevention of iatrogenic labial thickening, and (5) preservation of labial sensibility. The choice of techniques includes edge trimming, central spindle form de-epithelialization or full-thickness resection, and three modifications of the wedge resection or de-epithelialization technique. These three modifications comprised a modified anterior resection or de-epithelialization combined with posterior flap transposition, a custom flask resection or de-epithelialization, and a modified posterior wedge resection or de-epithelialization combined with anterior flap transposition. Use of the five decisional steps and the inclusion of modifications of all three conventional reduction techniques offer an improved algorithm for the choice of labioplasty technique.

New discrete-time modeling and simulation techniques are proposed which take advantages of the special features of PWM converter power stages and their compensation circuits. These techniques provide reduction of system order, and allow for the faster simulation without any numerical convergence problem. A buck converter with two-stage output filter Is employed to confirm the usefulness of the proposed techniques. The simulation results show these techniques can simulate the responoes of PWM converter system up to high frequencies.
