  • The oscillation of the fluid caused by external forces is call ed sloshing, which occurs in moving vehicles with contained liquid masses, such as trucks, railroad cars, aircraft, and liquid rocket. This sloshing effect could be a severe problem in vehicle stability and control. In this study, the optimization design technique for reduction of the sloshing using evolutionary method is suggested. Two evolutionary methods are employed, respectively the artificial neural network(ANN) and genetic algorithm. An artificial neural network is used for the analysis of sloshing and genetic algorithm is adopted as optimization algorithm. As a result of optimization design, the optimized size and location of the baffle is presented

Progressive Filter for Impulse Noise Reduction (임펄스 잡음제거를 위한 프로그레시브 필터)

  • In this paper, we propose a progressive filter for impulse noise reduction. The proposed method uses non-linear filter and linear filter progressively. Non-linear filter reduces abrupt noise pattern. Also, linear filter adjusts filtering direction according to an edge in the image which is filtered by non-linear filter. Thus, our proposed method not only preserves edge, but also reduces noise in uniform region. Experimental results show that our proposed method has better quality than those by existing non-linear and linear progressive filtering methods.

  • The Korean government recently has rediscovered the potential value of Han-Ok, the Korean traditional house, as an eco-friendly building. In order to objectively verify the environmental performance of Han-Ok as a low carbon green building, this paper suggests the analysis method of GHG emission load of Korean traditional house, based on Life Cycle Assessment, which is commonly abbreviated to "LCA". The environmental impacts caused by building construction and operation can be analyzed through the sum of input and output data from every phase. The study particularly describes the GHG reduction effect by using traditional building materials such as wood products, traditional clay roof tiles, and mud, which are mainly used to construct Han-Ok. Also the study proposes the method for comparative analysis of quantity of GHG emissions in building's entire life cycle so that the data can be used as a reliable basis to optimize the environmental performance of building.

  • The railway power feeding system is divided into AC power feeding system and DC power feeding system. In downtown area. DC power feeding system is used and AC power feeding system is used in intercity railway system. AC power feeding system raises a inductive disturbance that is divided into electrostatic induction and electromagnetic induction. Especially, it has a bad effect on communication lines. So inductive disturbance reduction method has been adopted in many system. In this paper, we deals with the inductive disturbance reduction method of railway power feeding system and of sides affected by inductive disturbance.

Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Aluminum Powder Compact by Powder-in Sheath Rolling Method (분말시스압연법에 의해 제조된 알루미늄 분말성형체의 조직 및 기계적 성질)

  • A nitrogen gas atomized aluminum powder was consolidated by powder-in sheath rolling method. A pure aluminum tube with outer diameter of 12 mm and wall thickness of 1mm was used as a sheath. The aluminum tube filled with the aluminum powder, first, was cold-rolled to the thickness of 6mm for performing, and then consolidated by the cold rolling and/or subsequent hot rolling at 360, 460 and $560^{\circ}C$. The aluminum powder compact fabricated by the sheath rolling showed high relative density more than 0.96 at any rolling conditions. The 0.2% proof stress increased with increasing hot rolling reduction and hot rolling temperature. Tensile strength was hardly affected by change in the hot rolling reduction, whereas it decreased with increasing hot rolling temperature. The powder compact showed the large elongation when cold rolling or hot rolling reduction was large. It was found that the sheath rolling was an effective method for consolidation of aluminum powder.

  • A Quantizer reconstruction level control method for block artifact reduction in DCT image coding is described. In our scheme, quantizer reconstruction level control is obtained by adding quantization level step size to the optimum quantization level in the direction of reducing the block artifact by minimizing the mean square error(MSE) and error difference(EDF) distribution in boundary without the other additional bits. In simulation results, although the performance in terms of signal to noise ratio is degraded by a little amount, mean square of error difference at block boundary and mean square error having relation block artifact is greatly reduced. Subjective image qualities are improved compared with other block artifact reduction method such as postprocessing by filtering and trasform coding by block overlapping. But the addition calculations of 1-dimensional DCT become to be more necessary to coding process for determining the reconstruction level.

Hybrid filter for noise reduction (잡음제거를 위한 하이브리드 필터)

  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid filter for noise reduction. The proposed method adjusts rational filtering direction according to an edge in the image using median filtered data. Rational filter modulates the coefficients of a linear lowpass filter to limit its action in presence of image details. By the ratio of polynomials in the input variables, rational filter reduces noise adaptively. Median filter is widely used to reduce impulse noise, but removes some details for highly corrupted images. Also, desirable details are removed when the window size is large. Our proposed algorithm combines rational filter and median filter. Thus, proposed method not only preserves edge, but also reduces noise in uniform region. Experimental results show that our proposed method has better quality than those by existing median and rational filtering methods.

  • This study is to establish design method and evaluation technology for drive system appropriate to high speed tilting train. The transmission system of high speed train serves in the severe condition compared with those of KHST(G7), namely, they have to transmit high power to run with high speed and they have to make maximum use of the limited space. This paper reports the reviews and results of the design and evaluation method for reduction gearbox of high speed tilting train and discusses various design items and methods about assembly and parts of reduction gearbox.

Partial Shift Mapping for PAPR Reduction with Low Complexity in OFDM Systems

  • The high peak-to-average power is one of the main drawbacks in OFDM systems. This letter proposes a partial shift mapping (PSM) method for peak power reduction in OFDM systems. By utilizing the properties of the discrete Fourier transform, the proposed method generates a set of candidate signals without additional complex multiplication and selects the one with minimum peak power for transmission. Analyses and simulations confirm that the PSM method achieves satisfactory peak power reduction performance and low complexity compared with other kindred methods, for example, selected mapping and partial transmit sequences.

  • In this paper a study on the characteristics and the reduction method for the ground vibration due to traveling tilting car is carried out. The transmitted load which induces the ground vibration is computed through a study oil the interaction between tilting car and the line. Then, this lead is applied into the numerical model, which is not only designed considering the diverse ground conditions hut also verified by the ultrasonic experiment. Through the numerical analysis according to the conditions, the characteristics and the reduction method for the ground vibration by tilting car are studied.
