  • Silkworms, which have for long been used as an insect resource for industrialization, have recently attracted attention as potential bio-factories for the production of novel biomaterials. In this regard, material production is typically achieved based on transformation technology, mediated via microinjection, in which a target gene is inserted into eggs containing an embryo. However, an essential step in the microinjection procedure is egg fixation, which can be a time-consuming and laborious task. Therefore, in this study, using the 3DCADian program, we adopted a 3D printing approach to model egg liners and glue drawers, which can contribute to facilitating egg alignment and fixation, thereby enhancing transformation efficiency by reducing time consumption and fatigue. After rendering using Fusion 360, the two supplementary tools were produced by printing with nylon resin (PA12) and Sinterit Lisa Pro. Subsequent analysis of the time required to fix eggs on glass slides using the two manufactured tools, revealed that the processing time was reduced by approximately 18.6% when the two tools were used compared with when these tools were not used. These innovations not only reduced fatigue but also contributed to more effective use of the microscope and manipulator for microinjection. Consequently, we believe that with additional research and refinement, the egg liner and glue drawer developed in this study could be used to enhance silkworm transformation efficiency and study similar transformation systems in other industrial insects.

  • Video Stabilization For Vehicular Applications Is An Important Method Of Removing Unwanted Shaky Motions From Unstable Videos. In This Paper, An Improved Video Stabilization Method With Image Stitching Has Been Proposed. Scale Invariant Feature Transform (Sift) Matching Is Used To Calculate The New Position Of The Points In Next Frame. Image Stitching Is Done In Every Frame To Get Stabilized Frames To Provide Stable Video As Well As A Better Understanding Of The Previous Frame'S Position And Show The Surrounding Objects Together. The Computational Complexity Of Sift (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) Is Reduced By Reducing The Sift Descriptors Size And Resticting The Number Of Keypints To Be Extracted. Also, A Modified Matching Procedure Is Proposed To Improve The Accuracy Of The Stabilization.

  • We propose the hardwired distributed arithmetic which is applied to multiple constant multiplications and the fixed data path in the inner product of fixed coefficient as a result of variable radix-2 multi-bit coding. Variable radix-2 multi-bit coding is to reduce the partial product in constant multiplication and minimize the number of addition and shifts. At results, this procedure reduces the number of partial products that the required multiplication timing is shortened, whereas the area reduced relative to the DA architecture. Also, this architecture shows the best performance for DCT/IDCT and DWT architecture in the point of area reduction up to 20% from reducing the partial products up to 40% maximally.

  • The chemistry background of the Maillard reaction focused on pyrazines and factors affecting the reaction products were reviewed. The Maillard reaction, also called a non-enzymatic browning reaction, is quite complex and generates numerous reaction products. In processed foods, it is generally accepted as a key reaction to produce flavor components. Specially, pyrazines possess an important impact character on the roasted foods with other heterocyclic compounds. The Maillard reaction is initiated by condensation between reducing sugar and amino group, and N-glycosylamines are produced via Schiff base with dehydration of water. After the rearrangement of the N-glycosylamines, they follow transformation into deoxyhexosones which are reactive intermediates. Degradation and fragmentation are facilitated by rearranged compounds. By condensation, pyrazine, one of the final Maillard products, is generated as a relatively stable form to provide specific aromas. During the processes of the reaction, chemical or physical environmental parameters affect the formation of the products.

  • In this study, the controller using TMS320LF2407 low voltage DSP for motor control is designed and realized. It has 40 MIPS calculating ability and its driving voltage is 3.3 V for low power. The peripheral elements, however usually use 5 V and they need voltage transfer interface. In this study, voltage transformation and reducing noise are studied and space vector PWM is adopted as a motor control scheme. According to these methods, the efforts for software programming and calculation processes are reduced. In addition, the hardware is also simplified by substituting the current control part with software programming. Through this study, the DSP based servo controller increases its ability for high performance multi-function on semiconductor transportation equipments..

  • During the transformation of the agro-technology extension in rural China, many new Policy experiments are emerging to rebuild the lost linkages and to improve technology transfer with the system and among systems. Applying the Triple Helix Model of academy-agriculture-government relations, this paper explores a new pattern of technology transfer with the case of BaojiCity. The authors interpret the mechanism of 'Courtyards for Agro-experts', as well as the comparison between different types of courtyards. This article concludes that the Triple Helix in the agro-sector improves technology transfer and accelerates knowledge-based regional development. In the interest of farmers there should also be concern over reducing inequity the reform.

  • It is important to develop new effective technologies for increasing the interruption capacity and reducing the size of a GCB (Gas Circuit Breaker). It is not easy to test the real GCB model in practice as in theory. Therefore, a simulation tool based on a CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) algorithm has been developed to facilitate an optimization of the interrupter. But the choice of grid is not at all trivial in the complicated geometries like a GCB. In this paper, we have applied a CFD-CAD integration using Cartesian cut-cell method, which is one of the grid generation techniques for dealing with complex and multi-component geometries.

  • In the present paper, approximate coordinate transformations for simulation of turbulent flows with wall deformation, significantly reducing computational cost with little degradation in numerical accuracy, are presented. The Wavier-Stokes equations are coordinate-transformed with an approximation of Tailor-series truncation. The performance is evaluated by performing numerical simulations of a channel flow at Re$\sub$$\tau$/ = 140 with active wall motions of η$\sub$m/$\^$+/ $\leq$5. The approximate transformations provide flow structures as well as turbulence statistics in good agreement with those from a complete transformation [Phys. Fluids 12, 3301 (2000) ] and allow 25-30% savings in the CPU time as compared to the complete one.

  • Query-by-Example(QBE) is high-level display-oriented databased manipulation language that provides a convenient and unified style for querying, updating, defining, and controling a relational database. QBE is relationally complete. However, lack of aubquery constructs limits th usability of QBE significantly. In particular, certain queries cannot be represented in one window. In this paper, we define a subquery box and extend QBE for subquery construction. The Extended QBE makes it possible to represent the queries that the QBE cannot do in one window, reducing the overhead and complexity of composing those queries. We also define the grammar of the Extended QBE and present the parsing techniques. Finally, we present an algorithm to transform the queries in Exteded QBE to those in SQL. The result of the transformation can be executed using dynamic SQL features of any SQL system. The proposed language has been implemented on OS/2 using the OS/2 EE Database Manager.

  • Continuous degradation of forest in both quality and quantity threatens wood security in the future. Thus in the future, most wood and pulp will be expected to be produced from plantation forests. We attempt to produce superior trees suitable for such plantations with maximum productivity in limited land area. Tree productivity could be enhanced either by promoting growth and wood quality or by reducing loss caused by abiotic and biotic stresses. Genetic transformation techniques may offer ways to improve the productivity by enabling trees to tolerate the stresses or to covert limited resources into big biomass. With the availability of information on various functional genes and gene transfer techniques, it should be possible to develop such trees. In this presentation, our work to produce such trees at Korea Forest Research Institute is briefly introduced.
