  • Recently, green energy support policies have been announced around the world in accordance with environmental regulations, and asthe market grows rapidly, demand for batteries is also increasing. Therefore, various methodologies for battery diagnosis and recycling methods are being discussed, but current accurate life prediction of batteries has limitations due to the nonlinear form according to the internal structure or chemical change of the battery. In this paper, CS2 lithium-ion battery measurement data measured at the A. James Clark School of Engineering, University of Marylan was used to predict battery performance with high accuracy using a convolutional neural network (CNN) model among deep learning-based models. As a result, the battery performance was predicted with high accuracy. A data structure with a matrix of total data 3,931 ☓ 19 was designed as test data for the CS2 battery and checking the result values, the MAE was 0.8451, the RMSE was 1.3448, and the accuracy was 0.984, confirming excellent performance.

  • Granite and marble are widely produced and utilized in the construction industry, resulting in significant waste production. It is essential to manage this waste appropriately and repurpose it in recycling processes to ensure sustainability. The utilization of waste materials such as marble and granite waste (MGW) has become increasingly important in geotechnical engineering to improve the physical and mechanical properties of weak soils. This study investigated the applicability of utilizing MGW and cement (C)-MGW mixtures to improve clayey soil. A series of model plate loading tests were carried out in a specialized circular test tank to assess the influence of MGW and C-MGW mixing ratios on clayey soil samples. The samples were prepared by blending MGW and C-MGW in predetermined proportions. It is found that the bearing capacity of clay soil increased by approximately 71% when using MGW and C additives. Moreover, the consolidated settlement values of the clay soil decreased up to 6 times compared to the additive-free case.

  • So far, land use-transportation models have been used exclusively for numerical analysis. A recent theoretical endeavor now enables us to derive the first-order derivative of the model's welfare function with respect to policy variables. I extend this methodology into the institutional setting where toll revenues are recycled through labor income tax. In this setting, the first-order derivative is composed of (1) the increase in welfare due to reduced congestion, and (2) the decrease in welfare due to interaction with the existing labor income tax. This result coincides with existing theory in the non-spatial model.

  • In the past, a strategic management of work demands has been increasingly challenged to design-build (DB) firms. Such a management is capable of providing sufficient profitable impact of a project on them. Total project profit is mainly related to actual resources, work completion time, amount of rework, and costs. The degree of recycling work packages in the DB project delivery system is used as a measure of the quality of the performed work. However, there are few models available to evaluate the impact of a demand management strategy on the DB firms and to predict its behavior. We propose a decision-making support model as an aid for assessing the amount of rework and for predicting project profit resulting in a convincible demand management strategy. This model is constructed by using a dynamic feedback approach that can analyze the problems arising in complex managerial systems. For the purpose of illustration, widely acceptable strategies were applied into the model to explore their impacts on the DB firms. The results indicate that the model is helpful for the managers in selecting the most appropriate demand management strategy for successfully achieving their objectives.

  • Concrete are the most widely used manmade materials for infrastructure construction across the world. These constructions gradually aged and damaged due to long-term use. However, there does not exist an efficient concrete recycling method with low energy consumption. In this study, concrete was regarded as a heterogeneous material composed of coarse aggregate and cement mortar. And the failure mode of concrete under ultrasonic dynamic loading was investigated by finite element (FE) analysis. Simultaneously, a 3D random aggregate concrete model was programmed by APDL and imported into ABAQUS software, and the damage plastic constitutive model was applied to each phase to study the damage law of concrete under dynamic loading. Meanwhile, the dynamic damage process of concrete was numerically simulated, which observed ultrasonic propagating and the concrete crushing behavior. Finally, the FE simulation considering the influence of different aggregate volume and aggregate size was carried out to illustrate the damage level of concrete.

  • Enforced environmental regulations call for extending the domain of manufacturers' responsibility to the entire product life cycle. To comply with the environmental regulations, manufacturers have constructed reverse logistics networks to re-collect their leftover waste for recycling consumed resources. However, the operational activities associated with storage, loading and transportation processes within the networks inevitably impose environmental burdens. Particularly, the transportation process largely influences environmental performance due to perpetual uses of transportation vehicles. Therefore, there is a need to develop an environmentally-conscious transportation model that can efficiently manage the uses of transportation vehicles. Additionally, it is vital to analyze its significances of environmental performance to compare quantitatively it with existing models. This paper proposes a transportation model for improving environmental performance in a reverse logistics network. This paper also presents a case study to perform its comparative analysis using Life Cycle Assessment that evaluates potential environmental impacts of a product system.

  • Food waste is produced from food factories, food services, and home kitchens. The generated mass reached 5.4 million tons/year in 2020. The basic management technology for such waste has been biological degradation under an anaerobic environment. However, the whole process is intrinsically slow and considerably affected by the inner physicochemical properties of the waste and other surrounding conditions, which makes optimization of the process difficult. The most promising options to counter this massive generation of waste are eco-friendly treatments or recycling. As a preliminary step for these options, attempts were made to evaluate the feasibility and usability of three simulative models based on reaction kinetics. Model (A) predicted relative changes over reaction time for reactant, intermediate, and product. Overall, an increased reaction rate produced less intermediate and more product, thereby leading to a shorter total reaction time. Particle diminishing model (B) predicted reduction of the total waste mass. The smaller particles diminished faster along with the dominant effect of microbial reaction. In Model (C), long-chain cellulose was predicted to transform into reducing sugar. At a standard condition, 48% of cellulose molecules having 105 repeating units turned into reducing sugar after 100 h. Also it was found that the optimal enzyme concentration where the highest amount of remnant sugar was harvested was 1 mg L-1.

  • The importance of demolition industry is becoming lager because of reusing and recycling of construction waste in current trend to pursue for sustainable development. As considering situation of the domestic housing construction and existing house, a scale of demolition industry is expecting to be increased continually. Therefore, for sustainable development is needed forecasting and managing rightly demolition waste to be producted at demolition phase. But, The development of model for estimating demolition waste is not sufficient in the country, also, the development of computer system for managing it rightly has not yet been created. In this study developed the estimating waste units for estimating demolition waste of an apartment and a house. A regression model for quantifying demolition waste easily is developed to do simulation again after making the estimating waste units through analyzing draws. This model is developed as a computer system for increasing application and then verified the reliability through field application. this regression model can quantify a sort of 22 demolition waste easily based on the size of the floor area and a number of units. This system is expected to quantify demolition waste easily which is producted during redevelopment and remodeling of existing house.

  • This batch experiment evaluated the impacts of major plant nutrient releases by applying the modified Hyperbola model on the leachates and N2O emissions from incorporated rice hull biochar with organic fertilizer materials. The treatments consisted of the control as incorporated with organic fertilizer materials, the incorporated rice hull biochar with organic fertilizer materials, and the incorporated plasma-activated rice hull biochar with organic fertilizer materials under redox conditions. The results indicated that the maximum release amount of NH4-N was 3486.3 mg L-1 in the control, and their reduction rates of NH4-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, and K were 8.0%, 17.5% 44.3.0% and 8.7%, respectively, relative to the control. In the control, the highest soluble amount of PO4-P was 681.0 mg L-1. The estimations for accumulated NH4-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, and K-releases in all the treatments were significantly (p<0.01) fitted with a modified Hyperbola model. For greenhouse gas emissions, the lowest cumulative N2O was 340.4 mg kg-1 in the soil incorporated with plasma-activated rice hull biochar, and the reduction rates were 27.8% and 86.4% in the rice hull biochar and plasma-activated rice hull biochar treatments, respectively, compared to the control. Therefore, it concluded that the incorporated rice hull biochar can be especially useful for controlling PO4-P release and N2O emissions for bio-fertilizer applications.
