ln this study, the questionnaire survey was performed to obtain the basic data on current situations and challengeable aspects of vermicomposting industries. The questionnaire contained the four main categories such as vermicomposting facilities, feeling marerials, earthworm breeding and cast handling. The results was summarized as followings: 1. Vermicomposting facilities area was becoming larger, and earthworm feed was also expending to various organic sludges. These trends showed that Vermicomposting is being enlightened to treat and recycle the organic wastes in Korea. 2. Present Vermicomposting technology needs the broad land. Because of the high cost of land in Korea, the land saving technology such as multistage must be needed. And present operation practices are mostly based on human power, mechanization and automation is needed. Also, present control practices are based on individual experience need the scientific base control system. 3. Considering situations of organic wastes management in Korea, the technical development and the practical improvement of Vermicomposting as the waste recycling will be needed.
The study aims to analyze and evaluate the evaluation items and application methods of environment-friendly middle schools in Chungbuk area by case studies. For the study, the criteria and situations of environment-friendly schools are analyzed literally and three environment-friendly middle schools in Chungbuk area selected. The field surveys and faculty interviews are performed. As results, about 35 environment-friendly technologies are applied and 66 to 68 points are acquired in three selected schools. It is analyzed that the PV, natural interior materials, raining recycle system and sufficient green spaces are pointed out as main technologies. About 66% of respondents know the environment-friendly certification and use the environment facilities in classes. However, the unsuitable plants for interior green spaces, unskilled management of recycling facilities and the absent of student participate programs show up as main problems. Also, the active campaigns need to expand the environment-friendly school.
The annual total phosphorus load caused by public wastewater, nightsoil and livestock manure treatment facilities in Korea has been examined macroscopically. Annual domestic average phosphorus (P) inflows through the income of phosphate rock for the last five years (2012 - 2016) were analyzed as 76,598 tons/year. As of the year 2015, the total loadings of phosphorus attributed to public wastewater treatment facilities, nightsoil treatment facilities and livestock wastewater were estimated as 30,269 tons/year, 1,909 tons/year and 18,138 tons/year, respectively. Considering the amount of phosphorus imports, the annual phosphorus load from wastewater, livestock wastewater and excretions is equivalent to 39.5%, 23.7%, 2.5% and totally 65.7%(39.5% + 23.7% + 2.5%). Therefore, the introduction of phosphorus recovery and recycling processes for the public wastewater and livestock manure treatment facilities has been found to be effective because it could reduce the import amount of phosphate rock by up to 60% or more.

Under consideration of construction waste recycling, candidate secondary products applicable for the civil and construction areas can be reliably employed based on the recycling cost analysis. For the validation purpose, probability-based cost analyses were performed to estimate recycling cost profit considering uncertainties. When recycling construction wastes, the costs at each stage are fully dependent on target products to be adopted. To achieve commercialization of each product, its quality has to be improved with economic efficiency through accurate evaluation of input costs. Based on the probabilistic recycling cost analysis, the cost benefit for target products was estimated with waste classification cost, transportation cost to recycling treatment facilities and production cost. All necessary information on the cost analysis were collected from literature, disclosure, and existing recycling companies. In addition, a cost difference between recycled and non-recycled events was made. As a result, a probability-based recycling cost estimate for candidate secondary products was herein presented.

The purpose of this study is to investigate influence of NaCl precisely in recycling process of food waste and in places where food waste compost is used, because NaCl with food waste has caused concerns of adverse effects in the process of food waste recycling and in plates where final products is used. The influence of NaCl in composting was measured through temperature, concentration of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) and pH. NaCl didn't cause bad effects until 1%(wet base) of NaCl concentration for composting, showed adverse effects gradually at 2% and 3% and affected composting deeply at 6%. The influence of NaCl in composting was insignificant until 3% of NaCl concentration but decomposing efficiency of organic compounds was interfered with more than 3%. NaCl concentration has to be maintained less than 1%(wet base) to minimize adverse effects of NaCl in composting however NaCl concentration with food waste used in real composting facilities is so lower than 1 %(wet base) that the bad influence in food waste composting is slight. Compost(final product) was collected from real food waste recycling facilities in A city, S city, K-Gu and S-Gu and controlled NaCl concentration artificially such as 0.5%, 0.8%, 1.2%, 1.6%, 2.0%, 2.5% and 3.0% to investigate influence of NaCl on growth of plants. In results of plant test and pot experiment, according to quality of compost sampled, the influence of NaCl is insufficient until 3% and bad effects appeared clearly more than 3%. The bad effects showed less than 3% because compost sampled was not stabilized fully.

Korea's large-scale incinerating facilities of domestic waste were built in the late 1980's. It was found that most of the incinerators were designed during the period and even the ones constructed afterwards have been built without any changes or modifications. However, the nature of waste fed into incinerators is undergoing a radical change due to government policies on waste collection, which is upheld by a research into changes in the heating value of domestic wastes. As a result, refractories and stokers are being damaged in many of the facilities due to overheating. On the other hand, the formation of clinkers on boilers' heating surface, which curbs he at transfer, results in problems such as a fall in used heating value and a rise in the temperature of combustion chambers. Methods are being deployed to resolve the problems-such as spraying water on piles of waste, incinerating food waste by mixing together what has been separately collected, spraying water on combustion chambers, etc. Such actions are not a fundamental solution, nor redesigning and rebuilding incineration facilities is cost-effective. This research seeks to develop a fundamental solution to address the situation.

This study was conducted to characterize food waste leachate (FWL) and to compare its characteristics according to generation source: feed supplement- and compost-producing facilities. FWL contained high levels of organic compounds such as carbohydrate, protein and lipid. The moisture content of FWL was among the range of conventional wet anaerobic digestion. FWL was acidic (pH of $4.0{\pm}0.3$) and showed high coefficients of variance for specific parameters: carbohydrate, protein, lipid, ethanol, acetic acid and propionic acid. FWL derived from feed supplement-producing facilities showed slightly lower concentrations of most parameters than FWL derived from compost-producers. However, the difference was not significant at 5% significance level according to analysis of variance.

As the result of reviewing the linked treatment of water quality for treating process at public livestock wastewater treatment facilities for fair selection of the proper linked process in case of linking sewage treatment plant for livestock wastewater, in case of wastewater processed by bio-reactor that is only biologically-treated, the load factor showed relatively high as 1.67%(base on design quality), 2.59%(base on operation quality) regarding COD and 3.69%(base on design quality), 7.67%(base on operation quality) regarding $COD_{Mn}$ but it is judged that there is nearly no influence on the operation of sewage treatment plan. And, in case of oxidized flotation-treated water & biofiltlation-treated water that are the advanced wastewater treatment, the load factor is approximately 1% and there is concern about the installation of excessive facilities in case of installing the advanced wastewater treatment. So, in case of considering the economic efficiency & stable operation of sewage treatment plant S, it is judged to be desirable to link with wastewater processed by bio-reactor that is biologically-treated.

Composting facilities are operated with air and moisture control. Composting effects on two operating factors was analysed changing aeration rate with and without water addition to maintain the optimun moisture level. Though the composting facilties are provided with appropriate surroundings for compositing, operating temperature is set for decomposition rate. Accordingly control of decomposition phases was analysed by modeling the process of high and low decomposition phases with various operating temperature. A composting model of "The Library of Compost Engineering Software" developed by Roger T. Haug Inc. in U.S.A. was applied in modeling. As result of this study, operation with optimum moisture has more sensitive temperature to aeration fluctuation and lead to higher reaction rate with lower aeration than operation with poor moisture. Decomposition rate in composting facilities depend on slow decomposition phase because high rate decomposing substances already have been decomposed before entire process is not completed. In order to enhance decomposition rate of organics, effective decomposition in slow decomposition phase needs to be focused.
Livestock manure is known to be the main cause of non-point pollution in agricultural areas. The pollutant reduction ratio of livestock manure recycling to fertilizers was measured in order to analyze the effect on the water quality of the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) system in Korea. The reduction ratio has been applied by theoretical consideration without a survey, and there is no value for Total Organic Carbon (TOC) newly introducing any organic items. The reduction ratio of each pollutant from this study was revealed as follows: TOC, BOD, T-N and T-P were 0.34, 0.60, 0.37, and 0.42 for individual farm and 0.38, 0.61, 0.45 and 0.44 for entrustment facilities, respectively. The reduction ratio of individual farm was surveyed as TOC 0.63, BOD 0.62, T-N 0.42 and T-P 0.32 for liquid fertilizer, and TOC 0.30, BOD 0.64, T-N 0.40 and T-P 0.48 for compost. The total reduction ratio was derived by multiplying the ratio for liquid fertilizer and compost by the respective load. Compared to the pollutant reduction ratio of the individual farm with entrustment facilities marking the higher in liquid fertilizer and the lower in compost. Through this study, we found the difference of pollutant reduction ratio between a livestock manure recycling process and facilities. Although phosphorus is known as a preservative matter, the treatment efficiency of T-P is analyzed to decrease by chemical precipitation.
