  • The aim of this study was to examine the emission of acoustic signals from three reinforced concrete beams at cracking and failure processes. Acoustic emission(AE) characteristics of reinforced concrete beams were investigated during the entire loading period. AE technique was used to evaluate the characteristics of damage process and the failure mechanism of reinforced concrete beam with natural and recycled aggregates. The influences of different aggregate in concrete on AE characteristics were investigated as well.

  • Recently, as quality river aggregates like sands and gravels become scarce, use of crushed stones and sands, seashore sands, and seashore gravels is increasing abruptly. And, aggregates recycled from slags and waste concretes are used. However, since the converter slag easily expands and breaks due to free lime, differently from the blast-furnace slag, it is not suitable for use as concrete aggregates. Since the atomized steel slag aggregate has slippery surface and spherical shape, the mortar flowing characteristics improved as the atomized steel slag content increases, without regard to the aggregates coarseness and water/cement ratio. The flow characteristics loss rate of the mortar manufactured from steel slag aggregates was similar to that of the mortar manufactured from washed sand only. The compact strength of the mortar manufactured from coarse PS Ball were larger than that manufactured from washing sand only.

  • The purpose of this study is to present data for the reusing, reinforcement and estimation of safety of the RC structure damaged by fire, and for the prevention of explosive spalling by checking the character of explosive spalling according to kinds of fine aggregate, admixture and water-cement ratios. The materials used fine aggregates were sea sand, crushed sand and recycled sand, and the admixtures were fly ash and blast-furnace slag. Also the water-cement ratios was 55% and 30.5%. After those were heated respectively for 30 and 60 minutes in accordance with Standard Time-Temperature Curve. And then conditions of explosive spalling were divided into five grades, and characters of explosive spalling were investigated.

  • Nowadays, Government is modifying envioronment regulatons, but PC factories, having been constructed in 1990, are running out heavy cost in disposal of waste concrete, and hardly studying how accelerator curing method affects in compressive strength. In this study, possibility that waste concrete, produced in PC factory, can be used in PC products, is reviewed, and them captures strength characteristics by curing method. The results can be summed as follows. In order to recycle concrete the mix ratio of recycled aggregate to 50 percent of less than must decrease also in summer of four seasons strength gap by curing method is very small.

  • This study is aimed at comparing the effect of cement mortar made of sulfuric acid treated ISO standard sand with that of cement mortar made of normal ISO standard sand. In the water absorption test, water absorption of standard sand increases with the increase of immersion time in sulfuric acid solution. The results show that at the water cement ratio of 0.5, the longer the standard sand is immersed in sulfuric acid, the greater the compressive strength of the cement mortar sample.

  • In this study, the characteristics of fine aggregates produced according to the jaw crush crushing gap variation were studied and analyzed in terms of recycled aggregates, and the experiments were conducted in terms of grading, density, water absorption, unit volume weight, grain shape. It was shown that the quality of the fine aggregate was affected by the shape of the morphological crushing.

  • In this research the processing method of Desulfurized Plaster is changed to cyclotomy, 0.3mm sieve analysis and 500℃ heat exposure, and by changing the mix rate of the binding agent to 0~20%, it was applied to mortar that used cyclic aggregate and blast furnace slag for testing. The test results showed that the flow decreased in the order of cyclotomy, high heat exposure, and sieve analysis according to the mix rate of FGD, and while the air volume decreased for cyclotomy, it was shown to have almost no effect on sieve analysis and high heat exposure. The setting time accelerated as the mixing rate of FGD increased, and the compression strength increased as the mixing rate of FGD increased and especially showed a high trend with cyclotomy and sieve analysis.

  • The aggregate properties of chilled converter slag reformed by atomizing liquid converter slag were investigated. The properties of mortars with various replacement of standard sand by chilled converter slag as recycled fine aggregates were investigated. The particle shape of chilled converter slag by atomizing was a sphere with an open cavity which is enclosed with two layers like a bored coconut. Specific gravity, unit weight and fineness modulus increased with increasing the replacement, and solid content had the maximum at the replacement of 75% and water absorption rate had the minimum at the replacement. The hardened mortars with higher replacements have the higher specific gravity and the denser texture.

  • Recently, the exhaustion of resource and environmental damage is serious due to the global warming because of the CO2 exhaust and each type the natural aggregate picking described below. meanwhile, The rest is the actual condition gone to the dumping ground that there is nearly no use which the waste glass can recycle and it is recycled. This research applied the waste glass as the cement substitute material the inorganic binder and coares aggregate substitute material. It utilizes the substitute material of the cement according to it and natural aggregate and tries to develop the environment-friendly artificial stone. The inorganic binder used the blast furnace slag, red mud, and fly ash. The straight type steel fiber, PVA fiber, PA fiber, and cellulosic fiber were used with a kind of fiber. As to the experimental item according to it, the compressive strength is the flexural strength and compressive strength.

  • Foam concrete can be considered as environmental friendly material due to its low weight, its minimal cost and a possibility to add waste materials in its production. This paper investigates the possibility of producing foam concrete with waste glass as powder and aggregate. Then, the effect of using waste glass on strength and drying shrinkage of foam concrete was examined. Also, the effect of incorporating polypropylene fibers (12 mm length and proportion of 0.5% of a mix volume) on distribution of waste glass as coarse particles within 1200 kg/m3 foam concrete mixes was evaluated. Waste glass was used as powder (20% of cement weight), as coarse particles (25%, 50% and 100% instead of sand volume) and as fine particles (25% instead of sand volume). From the results, the problem of non-uniform distribution of coarse glass particles was successfully solved by adding polypropylene fibers. It was found that using of waste glass as coarse aggregate led to reduce the strength of foam concrete mixes. However, using it with polypropylene fibers in combination helped in increasing the strength by about 29- 50% for compressive and 55- 71% for splitting tensile and reducing the drying shrinkage by about (31- 40%). In general, not only the fibers role but also the uniformly distributed coarse glass particles helped in improving and enhancing the strength and shrinkage of the investigated foam concrete mixes.
