신규마을 조성사업의 입지 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Location Assessment of Rural Village Construction Project)

  • If the new town development project begins with inappropriate location then it will be difficult to recruit tenants and the proportion of the infrastructure cost could increase. It is necessary to evaluate the feasibility of the new town development projects to solve this problem. This study aims to identify the current status of the new town development projects and draw up evaluation criteria by examining advanced researches. To identify the importance of each village, we set up the weights through analytic hierarchy process. The evaluation criteria were classified into location conditions and economical efficiency. In the case of location conditions, it was classified into available size, geographical conditions, and accessibility. As a result of analyzing the questionnaire, it was subdivided into officially assessed land prices in case of economic efficiency. This study had some limitations, that is we focused on the location conditions and economic feasibility among other factors. Therefore further study should contain analysis more on socio-cultural aspects such as residents' cooperation or will for this project. By adding results later, we can make more reasonable decisions when we choose appropriate area.

  • In cut throat competition, organizations all over the world try to utilize the immense opportunities the Internet has to offer in almost all of their operations. Today, Social networking sites (SNSs) provide utilities designed to help companies to recruit right personnel. Considering the implication of social media for recruitment at infancy stage in Pakistan and lack of studies related to it, this study aims to investigate the role of different SNSs qualities (Easily navigate, Secure process, Eminence Proficiency, Candidate's Attraction and Network Expedition) in effective E-recruitment (EER). Data were collected through structured questionnaire from employees and managers of major telecom companies of Pakistan. Finally, the result of 355 returned and valid questionnaire with 55% response rate show that the relationship between SNSs qualities and EER is significant. Moreover, results also prove that EER is better than the tradition recruitment and a SNSs comparison show that Facebook is more effective than LinkedIn for EER. The results of this study will help Pakistani companies to develop a successful e-HRM and EER strategy in the current scenario.

Multimodal Treatment Strategies in Esophagogastric Junction Cancer: a Western Perspective

  • Esophagogastric junction (EGJ) cancer is a solid tumor entity with rapidly increasing incidence in the Western countries. Given the high proportion of advanced cancers in the West, treatment strategies routinely employed include surgery and chemotherapy perioperatively, and chemoradiation in neoadjuvant settings. Neoadjuvant chemoradiation and perioperative chemotherapy are mostly performed in esophageal cancer that extends to the EGJ and gastric as well as EGJ cancers, respectively. Recent trials have tried to combine both strategies in a perioperative context, which might have beneficial outcomes, especially in patients with EGJ cancer. However, it is difficult to recruit patients for trials, exclusively for EGJ cancers; therefore, the results have to be carefully reviewed before establishing a standard protocol. Trastuzumab was the first drug for targeted therapy that was positively evaluated for this tumor entity, and there are several ongoing trials investigating more targeted drugs in order to customize effective therapies based on tissue characteristics. The current study reviews the multimodal treatment concept for EGJ cancers in the West and summarizes the latest reports.

대전지역 공공도서관 운영현황과 발전과제 (Current Status and Strategies for Public Libraries in Daejeon Metropolitan City)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대전지역을 중심으로 24개 공공도서관의 일반현황과 행정체계를 분석함으로써 공공도서관의 현주소를 파악하고, 발전방안을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 첫째, 대전지역 공공도서관의 시설, 인력, 장서, 예산 현황을 살펴보고, "제3차 도서관발전 종합계획(2019-2023)", "도서관법"과 "한국도서관기준"에서 제시하는 기준과 비교하였다. 둘째, 공공도서관 행정조직의 체계와 주요 특징을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 대전지역 공공도서관의 발전을 위해 공공도서관의 지속적 확충, 사서직원 충원, 장서 확충, 노인 대상 서비스 강화, 예산 증액, 정책담당 전담부서 신설을 제안하였다.

The role of hepatic macrophages in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

  • Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is becoming common chronic liver disease because of the increasing global prevalence of obesity and consequently Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the mechanism for progression of NAFLD to NASH and then cirrhosis is not completely understood, yet. The triggering of these hepatic diseases is thought from hepatocyte injury caused by over-accumulated lipid toxicity. Injured hepatocytes release damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), which can stimulate the Kupffer cells (KCs), liver-resident macrophages, to release pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, and recruit monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs). The increased activation of KCs and recruitment of MDMs accelerate the progression of NAFLD to NASH and cirrhosis. Therefore, characterization for activation of hepatic macrophages, both KCs and MDMs, is a baseline to figure out the progression of hepatic diseases. The purpose of this review is to discuss the current understanding of mechanisms of NAFLD and NASH, mainly focusing on characterization and function of hepatic macrophages and suggests the regulators of hepatic macrophages as the therapeutic target in hepatic diseases.

Factors that Affect Depression and Anxiety in Service and Sales Workers Who Interact With Angry Clients

  • Introduction: We evaluated depression and anxiety in service and sales workers from Korea who interacted with angry clients to identify factors that mediated and moderated depression and anxiety in these workers. Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey conducted in 2017. A structural equation model was used for mediation and moderation analysis. Results: Service and sales workers who had more interactions with angry clients had increased risk for depression and anxiety. Experiencing clients' adverse behaviors (acute episodes) mediated the relationship between interacting with angry clients (a chronic situation) on depression and anxiety. Job satisfaction and managers' support moderated the relationship between interacting with angry clients and mental health problems. Conclusion: We suggest that employers of service and sales workers should recruit staff based on their aptitude for such work, thus ensuring job satisfaction, and train them to deal with angry clients in such a way that they experience less emotional burden. Employers should also make bylaws requiring managers to directly take care of adverse social behavior by clients. Furthermore, a sociocultural campaign to prevent adverse social behavior by clients is also needed.

중환자실 간호사에게 발생하는 업무 흐름 중단 이유와 발생빈도 및 영향요인 (Reasons, Incidences, and Influencing Factors of Work Interruptions in Intensive Care Unit Nurses)

  • Purpose: This was a descriptive observational study examining the reasons for, frequency of, and factors affecting work interruption among intensive care unit (ICU) nurses. Methods: Convenience sampling was used to recruit 46 regular nurses who had been working in an ICU at D tertiary hospital in B metropolitan city for at least six months. To measure the degree of work interruption, this study revised a tool used by Brixey et al. (2007) for analyzing the type of work interruption. Results: A total of 1,787 work interruptions occurred during 368 hours of observation, i.e., at an average of 4.85 times per hour. Communication-related factors caused work interruption most frequently, followed by environmental, work-related, and personal factors. As for the work-related characteristics of nurses, participants experienced work interruption more frequently while working on weekdays, when the medical staff were stationed, than on weekends. Conclusion: ICU nurses experienced work interruption frequently. With the health care system expected to become more complicated in the future, efforts should be made to reduce unnecessary work interruptions to improve the operation efficiency of ICUs.

확률론적 연령구조모델을 이용한 한국 고등어(Scomber japonicus) 어획 강도 (Management Reference Points for Korea Chub Mackerel Scomber japonicus Stock)

  • Achieving optimal sustainable yields (i.e., avoiding overfishing and maximizing fishery harvest at the same time) is one of the main objectives in fisheries management. Generally, management reference points (MRPs) such as fishing mortalities (Fmsy, F0.1, Fx%) have been suggested for the purpose. In this study, we intended to suggest MRPs for Korea chub mackerel Scomber japonicus stock, using a stochastic catch-at-age model (SCAA) and evaluate whether the current fishing intensity on the stock is appropriate. We used length frequency and catch-per-unit-effort data on the Korea chub mackerel stock collected from the large purse-seine fishery, and yields landed by all fisheries from years 2000 - 2019. We calculated yield per recruit and spawning potential ratio, and projected spawning stock biomass (SSB) under different fishing mortality, assuming annual recruitments were solely controlled by environmental effects (i.e., steepness of 1.0). Some of our major findings and suggestions were that the overfishing threshold would be F46%; i.e., the fishing mortality in the terminal year, 2019 was 0.257/year, which corresponded to F46%.

한국의 동남아 지역연구와 경제학: 학술지 분석 및 방향성 모색을 중심으로 (Southeast Asian Studies and Economics in Korea)

  • This paper examines the performances of economics for Southeast Asian studies and finds the relationship between economics and Southeast Asian studies in Korea. Based on this we try to find the direction and the way how economics contributes to Southeast Asian studies. First of all, we look into several journals on area studies, such as Review of Southeast Asia, and find out that economics researches on Southeast Asia are much fewer than expected. This shows that Korean economists are not much interested in the issue of Southeast Asia and reflects the academic differences as discipline in economics and interdisciplinary Southeast Asian studies. However, we could find the common area that economics and Southeast Asian studies can share. Also, we suggest some points that economics contributes to development of Southeast Asian studies toward a independent academic discipline. It includes the theory and methodology of international, and development economics. The rapid development of information and communication technology and the economic integration by globalization needs new and modified economic theory and methodology for research on Southeast Asia. Adopting the objective and statistical methodology of economics could level up Southeast Asian studies as social science. Also, Southeast Asian studies need to recruit more actively economics research topics and methodology. Economics could attribute to the development of Korean Southeast Asian studies.

정보보호인력의 직무이동과정에 대한 분석 (Analysis on a Turnover Process of Information Security Professionals)

  • 정보보호분야에 종사하고 있는 인력 중 10% 이상이 매년 직장을 옮기고 있고, 퇴사 인력 중 50% 이상이 정보보호 이외의 직무로 전환을 하고 있어 정보보호 전문인력의 유출이 상당한 규모이다[1]. 정보보호 분야에 신규로 우수한 인력을 채용하는 것 뿐만 아니라, 이미 정보보호 분야에 근무하고 있는 인력들에게 만족스럽게 업무를 수행할 수 있는 여건을 제공하여 정보보호인력들의 전문성을 높이고 정보보호 관련 업무의 완성도를 높이는 것이 중요한 과제이다. 본 연구에서는 정보보호인력의 직무 이동 과정을 마코프체인을 이용하여 모델링하고 향후 정보보호인력의 직무별 구성에 대하여 전망한다. 본 연구의 결과는 유망 분야 중점 육성의 효과를 예측하는 등 정보보호 인력양성 관련 세부적인 정책추진의 타당성을 확보하는데 참고가 될 수 있을 것이다.
