PURPOSE: The present study aims to determine the effect of lower extremity muscle strength exercise at the non-paralyzed side of patients of stroke using a mirror on gait and balance. METHODS: Subjects were assigned randomly to a group of lower extremity exercise without using a mirror (n=10), a group of lower extremity motion exercise using a mirror (n=10), and a group of lower extremity muscle strength exercise using a mirror (n=10). The exercise is added to a physiotherapy program conducted at the hospital and subjects conducted their designed lower extremity exercises 30 times a day (5 sets), five days per week for four weeks. RESULTS: The study result showed that BBS(Berg balance scale)(p<.05) and TUG(timed up and go test)(p<.05) had a significant difference. In the comparison on gait ability, stride length, step length, step width and single support was a significant difference within two groups using a mirror before and after the intervention(p<.05). CONCLUSION: Conclusively, low extremity motion exercise using a mirror and low extremity muscle strength exercise using a mirror conducted along with general physiotherapy exercises had a positive effect on functions of lower extremity in patients with stroke and the recovery of paralyzed side thereby incurring a significant difference in balance and gait abilities.

The microstructure of Cu-Mg-P base alloys were significantly affected by small amounts of Fe and Co additions, however the tensile properties and electrical conductivity of the Cu alloys were mainly determined by the fabrication process. Relatively high electrical conductivity (> 80% IACS) was obtained in the all Cu-Mg-P based alloys when they were finally aged at $480^{\circ}C$. Tensile properties could be significantly enhanced by final cold rolling, especially at extremely low temperatures. Softening of cold-rolled alloys took place at about $450^{\circ}C$ owing to recovery and recrystallization, but it was delayed up to $500^{\circ}C$ in the Fe-added alloy.
Because permeate flux was very low as It has the suspension soled of higher concentration In the trafiltration membrane separation treatment of dyestuff wastewater, pre-treatment of Ponton reaction was carried out. In the case of pH 3, COD removal rate was the hi각erst of 58%. When PAC was added into the pre-treatment supernatant, the COD removal rate was found to be 53% , and when COD was 153mg/L, the removal rate was 92.3% in the trafiltration separation. In addition, the effect of the addition of PAC on the permeate flux was also investigated. The decrease of permeate flux In the presence of PAC was higher than In the abscence of PAC, but the recovery of permeability by cleaning was better In the case of PAC system.
To examine whether the xylene component of BTX (benzene, toluene, xylene) mixture is cometabolized and residues are produced in soil, $\^$14/C-labeled-0-xylene was added to sandy loam in combination with unlabeled benzene and toluene. After 4 weeks of incubation in a sealed system connected to an oxygen reservoir, 55.1% of the radiocarbon was converted to $\^$14/CO$\sub$2/, 3.0% was to 95.8% radiocarbon recovery. Biomass incorporation of o-xylene radiocarbon which was detected by fumigation/extraction was usually low (5.6%), but 32.1% radiocarbon became associated with soil humus. Most of the numus-bound radiocarbon was found in humin fraction. In addition to o-xylene, p-xylene and toluene also showed similar results. The evidence shows that some of their reactive methylcatechol biodegradation intermediates attach to the humic metrix in soil in preference to mineralization and biomass incorporation.
The potential for enhancing myocardial protection by adding high-energy phosphate to cardioplegic solutions [St. Thomas Hospital solution] was investigated in a rat heart model of cardiopulmonary bypass and ischemic arrest. Creatine phosphate was evaluated as an additive to the St. Thomas Hospital cardioplegic solution. Creatine phosphate 10.0 mmol/L as the optimal concentration which improved recovery of aortic flow and cardiac output after a 30 minute period of normothermic [37oC] ischemic arrest. In comparing mechanical function in both groups the mean postischemic recoveries of aortic flow, cardiac output, stroke volume and stroke work [expressed as a percentage of its preischemic control] were significantly greater in STH-CP group than in CP- free control group. In addition to improving function and decreasing CK release, CP reduced reperfusion arrhythmias significantly decreasing the time between cross-clamp removal and return to regular rhythm from 81.8 * 13.9 [sec] in CP-free group to 35.9 * 6.8 [sec] in CP group [P< 0.05] so, exogenous CP exerts potent protective and antiarrhythmic effects when added to the St. Thomas Hospital cardioplegic solution. However, the mechanism of action remains to be elucidated.
This work is carried out to develop the recovery process of vanadium as vanadium pentoxide and nickel as nickel sulphate from the leaching solution of heavy oil fly ash. First, sodium chlorate solution was added to the leaching solution to oxidize vanadium ions. With adjusting pH of the solution and heating, vanadium ions(V) is hydrated and precipitated as red cake of $V_2O_5$ from the solution. After recovering vanadium, nickel is recovered as ammonium nickel sulfate with crystallization process. From this nickel salt, nickel sulfate which meets the specifications for the electroplating industry can be produced economically. More than 85% of vana-dium and nickel in the fly ash are recovered in this process.
$NiO,\;Cu_2O,\;Mn_2O_3$ and $Cr_2O_3$ as p-type semiconductors were added in CoO with 15 wt.% ethylene glycol binder and measured the butane gas sensing characteristics. The highest sensitivity is obtained for the NiO-CoO sensors. CoO-20 at.% NiO sensor with 15 wt.% ethylene glycol binder sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 24 h exhibits high sensitivity of 90 % to 5000 ppm butane gas at the sensor temperature of $250^{\circ}C$, compared to low sensitivities at the low operating temperature for commercial sensors. Response and recovery times are, respectively, within few seconds and 1min in the static flow system, indicating rapid adsorption and desorption of butane gas on sensor surface even at this low temperature.
Four types of serum supplements viz. estrus cow serum (ECS), estrus buffalo serum (EBS), pro-estrus buffalo serum (PrBS) and post-estrus buffalo serum (PtBS), added to TCM-199, were evaluated for in vitro maturation and fertilization of buffalo follicular oocytes. The oocytes were recovered from buffalo ovaries after slaughter, using either aspiration or scoring (multiple incisions) method. The recovered oocytes were categorized as A, B and C based on their cumulus investment and ooplasm homogeneity and cultured in four media. The in vitro matured oocytes were inseminated with $1{\times}10^6$ spermatozoa washed in 2.9% sodium citrate solution. The scoring method yielded greater number of morphologically good oocytes than the aspiration method (3.85 vs 1.76 per ovary, p < 0.01). The maturation rates of three categories of oocytes did not differ from one another. The maturation rates of 80.00, 82.08, 78.77 and 66.23%, while the fertilization rates of 54.54, 55.38, 52.80 and 36.76% were recorded for media containing ECS, EBS, PrBS, and PtBS, respectively. The medium containing PtBS gave lower maturation, as well as fertilization, rates than the other three media (p < 0.05). Thus, the scoring method was better than the aspiration method for the recovery of follicular oocytes. The oocytes categorized A, B and C had similar maturation capabilities. The TCM-199 containing buffalo/cow serum collected at pro-estrus or estrus appeared better for in vitro maturation and fertilization of buffalo follicular oocytes than that containing serum collected at post estrus.

Enzymatic decomposition of gelatin layers on used X-ray films and repeated utilization of the enzyme for potential application in silver recovery were investigated using keratinolytic serine proteases from Purpureocillium lilacinum LPS # 876. At pH 9.0, the enzymatic reaction was enhanced by the increase of enzyme concentration or by the increase of the temperature up to $60^{\circ}C$. Under the conditions of 6.9 U/ml, $60^{\circ}C$, and pH 9.0, hydrolysis of the gelatin layers and the resulting release of silver particles were achieved within 6 min. The protective effect of polyols against thermal denaturation was investigated. The presence of glycerol and propylene glycol increased enzyme stability. When the reusability of the enzyme for gelatin hydrolysis was tested, it could be seen that it could be effectively reused for more cycles when glycerol was added, compared with the enzyme without protective agents. The results of these repeated treatments suggested that a continuous process of recycling silver from used X-ray is feasible. Keeping in mind that recycling is (at the present time) needed and imperative, it can be remarked that, in this research, three wastes were successfully used: hair waste in order to produce serine proteases; glycerol in order to enhance enzyme thermal stability; and used X-ray films in order to recover silver and PET films.
