자동차용 터보차저의 오버헝 압축기 볼류트의 두 형태에 대한 유동장 특성 (Flow Characteristics of Two Types of Overhung Compressor Volute for Automobile Turbocharger)

  • 자동차용 터보차저 원심압축기의 오버헝 볼류트의 두 가지 타입에 대한 유동장 특성이 수치적으로 연구되었다. 볼류트의 성능을 높이기 위해서는 높은 압력회복계수와 낮은 손실계수를 갖도록 함이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 디퓨저 입구각을 $24^{\circ}$, 질량유량을 0.055 kg/s 로 유지하고 두 가지 타입의 오버헝 볼류트에 대한 유동장 특성을 조사하였다. 하나는 1 개의 원호로 이루어진 볼류트 단면(타입 1)이며, 다른 하나는 3 개의 원호로 이루어진 볼류트 단면(타입 2)이다. 타입 2 볼류트가 타입 1 볼류트 보다 원주방향 전체를 통틀어 높은 압력회복계수와 낮은 손실계수를 보여주었다.

Study of PSII-treated PMMA, PHEMA, and PHPMA ; Investigation of Their Surface Stabilities

  • The plasma source ion implantation(PSII) technique which is a method using high negative voltage pulse in plasma system has the potential to change the surface properties of polymer. PSII technique increase the surface free energy by introducing polar functional groups on the surface so that it improves reactivity, hydrophilicity, adhension, biocompatability, etc. However, the mobility of polymer chains enables the modified surface layers to adapt their composition to interfacial force. This hydrophobic recovery interrupts the stability of modified surfaces to keep for the long time. In this study, poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA), poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)(PHEMA), and polu(2-hydroxypropyl methacylate)(PHPMA) for contact lens application, were modified to improve the wettability with PSII technique and were investigated the surface stabilities. Polymer film was prepared with solution casting(3 wt.% solution) and was annealed at 11$0^{\circ}C$ under vacuum oven to remove solvent completely and to eliminate physical ageing. The thickness of the film measured by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and surface profilometer was about 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Polymers were treated with different kinds of gases, pulse frequency, pulse with, pulse voltage, and treatment time. Even though PMMA, PHEMA, and PHPMA have similar repeat unit structure, the optimal treatment conditions and the tendency to hydrophobic recovery were different. PHPMA, more hydrophilic polymer than PMMA and PHEMA showd better wettability and stability after mild treatment. Surface tensions were obtained by water and diiodomethane contact angle measurements to monitor the relation between hydrophobic recovery and polymer structure. Different ion species in plasma change the polar component and dispersion component of polymer surface. For better wettability surface, the increase of polar component was a dominant factor. We also characterized modified polymer surfaces using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), secondary ion mass spectrometry(SIMS), Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), and SEM.

8주간의 복합운동프로그램이 근골격계 요통환자의 생체역학적 기능회복에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of 8 Week Combined Exercise Program on the Biomechanical Function Recovery of Patients Suffering from Work-Related Back Problems)

  • 본 연구에서는 복합운동프로그램이 근골격계 요통환자들의 생체역학적 기능회복에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 43명의 산업재해 요통환자들을 대상으로 프로그램 효과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 복합운동프로그램이 요부근력과 근지구력을 유의하게 증가시켜 요부기능회복에 긍정적으로 작용하였고, 요통으로 인해 낮아진 유연성을 증가시켜 정상인 수준으로 높일 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 복합운동 프로그램이 자세의 교정 및 척추변형 정도의 개선에 효과적으로 기여하는 것으로 나타났고 들기, 사회생활, 통증지속시간, 통증발생빈도 감소에 효과적으로 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 결국 본 연구의 결과 복합운동 프로그램이 작업관련성 요통환자들의 문제점을 개선하는데 효과적이고 적합하다는 사실을 알 수 있었다.

응집 및 정밀여과공정의 강화역세정시 NaOCl에 따른 PTFE막 투과능 회복과 막오염층 변화 (Permeability recovery and changes in fouling layer characteristics of PTFE membrane by enhanced backwash cleaning using NaOCl during coagulation and microfiltration)

  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane has high resistance to chlorine, which is a great advantages in chemical cleaning to recover water flux during membrane processes in drinking water systems. A humic kaolin water with approximately 4 mg/L of DOC and 10 NTU of turbidity was prepared as a feed water. Coagulation pretreatment with or without settling was applied. The coagulation with settling showed the greatest water production. The reduced flux was effectively recovered by NaOCl cleaning, i.e., 21% recovery by 50 mg/L of NaOCl cleaning and 49% recovery by 500 mg/L NaOCl cleaning. The images of SEM and AFM analyses were corresponded to the water flux variation. However, when the floc was accumulated on the membrane surfaces, the efficiency of NaOCl cleaning was substantially limited. In addition, dynamic contact angle became greater after cleaning, which indicates changes in characteristics of fouling layer such as surface hydrophobicity. Proper cleaning technologies during enhanced backwash using NaOCl would expand application of PTFE membranes in drinking water systems.

탄산염암 내 표면개질된 실리카 나노유체 주입 효과 분석 (Analysis of Effect of Surface Modified Silica Nanofluid Injection on Carbonate Rock)

  • 본 연구에서는 탄산염암 저류층에서 활용 가능한 GPTMS((3-Glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane)-SiO2 나노유체를 제조하고 주입 효과를 분석하였다. 표면개질에 따른 나노입자의 구조적 변화를 확인하기 위해 푸리에변환적외선분광(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, FTIR) 분석을 수행했으며, 0.5 mmol/g 이상의 GPTMS 농도에서 실리카 입자의 표면개질을 의미하는 2,950 cm-1의 C-H 신축 진동(C-H stretching vibration)을 확인하였다. 또한, 친유성 상태로 에이징된 석회석과 백운석을 대상으로 나노입자의 농도와 주입률에 따른 GPTMS-SiO2 나노유체의 코어유동 실험을 수행하였다. 나노유체 주입에 따라 최대 18.9%의 오일이 추가로 회수되었으며, 암석의 접촉각과 투과도 변화를 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 나노입자가 탄산염암 표면에 흡착됨에 따라 습윤도를 개선함과 동시에 공극에 영향을 준다는 것을 의미한다. 따라서, 제조된 나노유체는 탄산염암 저류층을 대상으로 한 석유회수증진의 주입유체로 사용될 수 있으며 습윤도, 투과도 변화와 같은 유체 유동물성 개선에 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

주택용 태양광발전시스템의 적정 용량 및 설치각 선정을 위한 최적화 모델 연구 (An Optimal Decision Model for Capacity and Inclining Angle of Residential Photovoltaic Systems)

  • In residential house, photovoltaic (PV) system among various alternatives in renewable energy system is the most efficient and feasible solution for reducing energy consumption and electricity cost. However, relatively high initial cost make people reluctant to install PV system in their houses. Therefore, in the initial state for PV system installation in the house, it is very important to decide proper capacity of the PV system considering the expected energy usage and solar energy supplying condition with the house. This paper proposes a novel optimization model for deciding appropriate capacity of the PV system for residential house. The objective function of the model is to minimize the annual cost including electricity bill, operation and maintenance cost, and annual fixed cost calculated from the initial installation cost based on capital recovery factor (CRF). The model also shows the optimal inclining angle of PV panels of the system. In this paper, we estimate the PV output using PVWATTS (PV simulator of Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy) and find optimal solutions by Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) method using MATLAB software. The proposed approach is finally applied to a residential model house in Gangneung, Gangwon-Do and verified its feasibility for adopting to PV system design for residential houses.

골프 진행보조요원의 하지근 피로도 (EMG Measurement for Lower Leg of Golf Caddies)

  • When standing, walking, or running for extended periods of time, fatigue occurs in the legs. Although there are many ways, to release tense or fatigued leg muscles, in the case that there is insufficient time to relax, an easy way to release leg fatigue is using an inclined step (about 3 minutes). This method was more effective than performing stretching exercises as studied. An experiment was conducted on a golf course in the Kangwon province in Korea. Subjects were chosen randomly and consisted of 5 females and 4 males golf caddies. Their main tasks consisted of pulling golf carts to the bottom of a hill for 8 to 10 hours and sometimes lifting and lowering golf clubs during the duration of one day. EMG was measured after work and after using the previously mentioned inclined Steps for the lower legs using ME3000P. This study investigated the types of inclined Steps which would be most effective and appropriate for golf caddies, whether sex difference had any influence existed between male and female workers. The results showed that a step with a $20^{\circ}$ angle was most effective for males and a step with a $25^{\circ}$ angle was most effective for females. Females showed faster recovery from fatigue than males. However, there were no statistical significance between males and females.

POLAR EXPONENTIAL GRID와 장방형격자 영상시스템의 영상분해도 및 영상처리능력 비교 (A Comparison of System Performances Between Rectangular and Polar Exponential Grid Imaging System)

  • The conventional machine vision system which has uniform rectangular grid requires tremendous amount of computation for processing and analysing an image especially in 2-D image transfermations such as scaling, rotation and 3-D reconvery problem typical in robot application environment. In this study, the imaging system with nonuiformly distributed image sensors simulating human visual system, referred to as Ploar Exponential Grid(PEG), is compared with the existing conventional uniform rectangular grid system in terms of image resolution and computational complexity. By mimicking the geometric structure of the PEG sensor cell, we obtained PEG-like images using computer simulation. With the images obtained from the simulation, image resolution of the two systems are compared and some basic image processing tasks such as image scaling and rotation are implemented based on the PEG sensor system to examine its performance. Furthermore Fourier transform of PEG image is described and implemented in image analysis point of view. Also, the range and heading-angle measurement errors usually encountered in 3-D coordinates recovery with stereo camera system are claculated based on the PEG sensor system and compared with those obtained from the uniform rectangular grid system. In fact, the PEC imaging system not only reduces the computational requirements but also has scale and rotational invariance property in Fourier spectrum. Hence the PEG system has more suitable image coordinate system for image scaling, rotation, and image recognition problem. The range and heading-angle measurement errors with PEG system are less than those of uniform rectangular rectangular grid system in practical measurement range.

  • Recently, the use of tubular hydroforming technology has seen increased usage and increased consideration for wide range of tubular automotive applications. In manufacturing hydroformed parts, bending and pre-forming operations are often required prior to the hydroforming process. Higher bending quality of bent tubes is crucial for the successful hydroforming operation because most of plastic strains and wall thinning at the extrados of bend area occur in the bending operation. Springback is also observed due to elastic recovery of tube material after bending. Proper correction of springback is required not only to well place the bent tube into a hydroforming die cavity but also to avoid pinching when the upper die is brought down to closing position. Therefore, prediction of springback at early development stage is one of the key factors to produce high quality hydroformed parts. In this study, a variety of bending experiments has been carried out to investigate springback amount under change in bending angle and material boosting. Throughout the experimental approach, springback characteristics of bent tubes are quantified according to the change in various bending parameters, and a mathematical model to predict correction amount of springback to a given bend angle is found.

Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring in Cerebello Pontine Angle Tumor

  • Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring (INM) inspection has a very important role. While preserving the patient's neurological function be sure to safe surgery, neurological examination should thank. Cerebello pontine angle tumor surgery, especially in the nervous system is more important to the meaning of INM. In cochlear nerve, facial nerve, trigeminal nerve, which are intricate brain surgery, doctors are only human eye and brain to the brain that it is virtually impossible to distinguish the nervous system. They receives a lot of help from INM. In this paper, we examined six kinds broadly. First, the methods of spontaneous EMG and Free-running EMG, which can instantly detect a damage inflicted on a nerve during surgery. Second, methods of triggered EMG and direct nerve electrical stimulation, which directly stimulate a nerve using electricity to distinguish between nerves and brain tumors. Third, the method of knowing a more accurate neurologic status by informing neurological surgeons about Free-running EMG wave forms that are segmetalized into four. Fourth, three ways of knowing when a patient will be awaken from intraoperative anesthesia, which happens due to a weak anesthetic. Fifth, a method of understanding the structures of a brain tumor and a facial nerve as five dividend segments. Sixth, comparisons between cases normal facial nerve recovery and occurrence of a facial nerve paralysis during the postoperative course.
