  • It is well-known that, if additional information other than a plaintext-ciphertext pair is available, breaking the RSA cryptosystem may be much easier than factorizing the RSA modulus. For example, Coppersmith showed that, given the 1/2 fraction of the least or most significant bits of one of two RSA primes, the RSA modulus can be factorized in a polynomial time. More recently, Henecka et. al showed that the RSA private key of the form (p, q, d, $d_p$, $d_q$) can efficiently be recovered whenever the bits of the private key are erroneous with error rate less than 23.7%. It is notable that their algorithm is based on counting the matching bits between the candidate key bit string and the given decayed RSA private key bit string. And, extending the algorithm, this paper proposes a new RSA private key recovery algorithm using a generalized probabilistic measure for measuring the consistency between the candidate key bits and the given decayed RSA private key bits.

  • In this paper, a methodology for reinforcing reverse logistics (RL) activities in a closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) model is proposed. For the methodology, the activities of the recovery center (RC) which can be considered as one of the facilities in the RL are reinforced. By the reinforced activities in the RC, the recovered parts and products after checking and recovering processes of the returned product from customer can be reused in the forward logistics (FL) of the CLSC model. A mathematical formulation is suggested for representing the CLSC model with reinforced RL activities, and implemented using a hybrid genetic algorithm (HGA) approach. In numerical experiment, two different scales of the CLSC model are presented and the performance of the HGA approach is compared with those of some conventional approaches. The experimental results show that the former outperforms the latter in most of performance measures. The robustness of the CLSC model is also proved by regulating various rates of the recovered parts and products in the RC.

  • Conventional research on image restoration has focused on restoring degraded images resulting from image formation, storage and communication, mainly in the signal processing field. Related research on recovering original image information of caption regions includes a method using BMA(block matching algorithm). The method has problem with frequent incorrect matching and propagating the errors by incorrect matching. Moreover, it is impossible to recover the frames between two scene changes when scene changes occur more than twice. In this paper, we propose a method for recovering original images using EBMA(Extended Block Matching Algorithm) and a region compensation method. To use it in original image recovery, the method extracts a priori knowledge such as information about scene changes, camera motion and caption regions. The method decides the direction of recovery using the extracted caption information(the start and end frames of a caption) and scene change information. According to the direction of recovery, the recovery is performed in units of character components using EBMA and the region compensation method. Experimental results show that EBMA results in good recovery regardless of the speed of moving object and complexity of background in video. The region compensation method recovered original images successfully, when there is no information about the original image to refer to.

  • In this paper, a simple Carrier Frequency Recovery(CFR) scheme is introduced. In relating the use of consumer-grade equipment and satellite transmission environments, carrier frequency recovery have to recovery a large initial Carrier Frequency Offset(CFO), which is 20% normalized CFO, for DVB-S2 receivers. For these reasons, conventional CFR schemes for DVB-S2 systems need significant hardware complexity. Introduced CFR scheme employs Fitz algorithm for coarse CFR and recovers a coarse CFO accurately, and a simple pilot block correlation algorithm is employed for fine CFR. Introduced scheme reduce the number of multiplication operations by 80% and does not need any additional memory without degrading the achievable performance.

  • In current storage system environment, we use disk mirroring or Chained-declustering scheme to improve data availability and reliability. If disk error is occurred when these schemes are used. we need efficient recovery schemes for these situations. In this paper, it is proposed that a recovery method of disk mirroring that guarantees I/O performance similar to normal state during disk failure, Also, we execute performance evaluation for our recovery scheme and existing schemes in various environments. We show through the simulation that our algorithm outperforms the classic schemes in terms of I/O response time.

  • Diffuser is an important fluid-mechanical equipment to convert kinetic energy into pressure energy. Many of the experimental and theoretical researches have been done in a diffuser but the understanding of energy transfer and detailed mechanism of energy dissipation is unclear. In this study, computations were performed using a numerical method with SIMPLE algorithm for conical diffuser with various diffuser angles and diffuser lengths. Also, we investigated the pressure recovery coefficient in conical diffuser by inserting strut. In this paper, we showed that the strut can cause a rising pressure recovery.

  • In a recent mobile computing environment, the research for a transaction model have been actively carried out to deal with real-time transaction. However, the research for recovery model is relatively insufficient. Therefore, it would be very important for mobile recovery methods for database stability, just in case of data loss due to hand-off in mobile computing system. So, further efficient research should be keenly done to reduce I/O hand-off in mobile computing systems. SLL method increases I/O time due to sequential file. This paper have been suggested to efficient mobile recovery method in mobile computing system. Finally, it has been clearly demonstrated for system efficiency, conducting the performance assessment that currently proposed recovery system.

  • Wireless communication environment is changing rapidly as we use new wireless communication technology such as WiBro to access high speed Internet. As a result, reliable data transmission using TCP is also expected to increase. Since TCP assumes that it is used in wired network, TCP suffers significant performance degradation over wireless network where packet losses are related to non-congestion loss. Especially RTO imposes a great performance degradation of TCP. In this paper, we analyze the loss recovery probabilities based on previous researches, and use simulation results of our algorithm to show that it prevents performance degradation by quickly detecting and recovery losses without RTO during fast recovery.

  • As the capacity of storage devices becomes larger, most users divide them into several logical partitions for convenience of storing and controlling data. Therefore, recovering partitions stably which are artificially hidden or damaged is the most important issue in the perspective of digital forensic. This research suggests partition recovery algorithm that makes stable and effective analysis using characteristics of each file system. This algorithm is available when partition is not distinguishable due to concealment of partition or damage in partition area.
