  • This study dealt with cumacean specimens collected from the shallow waters of the South Sea and East Sea, Korea. Campylaspis fusiformis Gam$\hat{o}$, 1960 belonging to the family Nannastacidae is newly recorded to Korean fauna. This species resembles C. pumila and C. striata in having a similar body form and a pair of narrow lateral sulcuses on the carapace, but it is easily distinguished from them by the dactylus of the pereopod 2 which is more than 3.5 times the length of the propodus and bears many setae (about 20) on the surface. This species mainly occurs in the Korean and Japanese waters.

  • An aquatic oligochaete species, $Ripistes$ $parasita$ (Schmidt, 1847) collected from Ganghwado Island in Korea, is described and illustrated. Specimens inhabiting on aquatic vegetation at the edge of the streams were collected with a plankton hand net. Morphological features of present specimens such as the number of long hair chaetae per bundle and their length in VI-VIII, and shape and size of ventral chaetae are concordant with those of previous reports on this species. The genus $Ripistes$ contains one species, $R.$ $parasite$ which is distributed over, Europe, North America and eastern part of Asia including China and Japan. This is the first record of $R.$ $parasita$ in Korea.

  • Eucephalobus oxyuroides (de Man, 1876) Steiner, 1936 belonging to the family Cephalobidae Filpijev, 1934 (Cephalobomorpha) is newly reported from South Korea. This species is distinguished from other Eucephalobus species by its pointed tail terminus, high lips and relatively longer female tail and body. From many previous studies, intraspecific variation in this species has been reported for body length, absence/presence of probolae, and number/position of papillae in the posterior region of male, posing an obstacle for identification and phylogenetic analysis. In this study, details of the morphological characters and morphometric of E. oxyuroides Korean population are described and illustrated based on optical microscopy.

  • Three-dimensional structures of unsteady detonation wave propagating through a square-shaped tube is studied using computational method and parallel processing. Inviscid fluid dynamics equations coupled with variable-${\gamma}$ formulation and simplified one-step Arrhenius chemical reaction model were analysed by a MUSCL-type TVD scheme and four stage Runge-Kutta time integration. Results in three dimension show the two unsteady detonation wave propagating mode, the Rectangular and diagonal mode of detonation wave instabilities. Two different modes of instability showed the same cell length but different cell width and the geometric similarities in smoked-foil record.

  • During a study of acarine biodiversity, a phytoseiid mite was collected from soil samples under the rose of Sharon plants. The specimen was identified as Neoseiulus harrowi Collyer, 1964, which was previously only reported in New Zealand and Australia, and is thus a new record for Korean phytoseiid fauna. Neoseiulus harrowi is morphologically similar to N. makuwa (Ehara), but distinctly different in two characters: shorter length of two posterior setae (Z4, Z5) and a forked atrium of spermatheca longer in N. makuwa than in N. harrowi in females.

  • A single specimen of Brama orcini (267.0 mm standard length, SL), belonging to the family Bramidae, was collected by purse seine from Jeju Strait, Korea, in December 2013. The specimen is characterized by having 16 gill rakers, 54 lateral line scales, and 36 vertebrae. B. orcini is distinguished from the most similar species, Brama japonica, by the number of lateral line scales (52-54 in B. orcini vs. 65-75 in B. japonica). We propose a new Korean name "Keun-bi-neul-sae-da-rae" for B. orcini.

  • Three specimens of Lutjanus ophuysenii (217.8-226.7 mm in standard length) were collected by a gill net at Korea between August 2015 and July 2016. This species has not previously been recorded from Korea. L. ophuysenii is very similar to Lutjanus vitta. But several morphological characteristics distinguish the two species, including the number of lateral line scales (46-49 scales in L. ophuysenii; 49-52 scales in L. vitta), a black spot in the middle part of the longitudinal stripe (present in L. ophuysenii; absent in L. vitta), and the absence of a scale on posterior end of the preopercle in L. ophuysenii (present in L. vitta). The Korean name proposed for L. ophuysenii is "Jeom-jul-tung-dom."

  • A tri-spine horseshoe crab, Tachypleus tridentatus (Leach, 1819) was collected from a sandy beach of Udo Island of Jeju during the full moon tides in November 1997. Three spines on the posterior margin of the opisthosoma were characterized indicating that the specimen was T. tridentatus. This specimen was a female with the total length of 49.5 cm and prosoma width of 23.0 cm. Tachypleus tridentatus was the first record from Korean waters. A brief description and figures of the species were given. This finding indicates that Korea is included to the distribution range of the species.

  • Setarches longimanus (Alcock 1894), in the family Scorpaenidae, was collected from Busan and the coastal waters of Jeju Island, Korea, in January and November 2014, respectively. Two specimens are characterized by XI, 10 dorsalfin rays; 19-21 pectoralfin rays; III, 5 anal fin rays; a second preopercular spine much shorter than the first and third; and an interorbital width 11.3 %-11.6 % of the standard length. We also analyzed 587 base pairs of the mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase subunit I sequences in order to confirm the taxonomic status of the specimen. As a result, the sequences of our specimen almost corresponded to those of Chinese S. longimanus (genetic distance, d = 0.005), but considerably differed from those of S. guentheri (d = 0.120-0.124). We propose the new Korean names "Ma-su-gam-peng-sok" for the genus Setarches, and "Bul-geun-ma-su-gam-peng" for the species S. longimanus.

  • One specimen (181.0 cm; TL, total length) of Echinorhinus cookei was collected from Busan, Korea in 2014 using gill net. Echinorhinus cookei was characterized by having no anal fin, no spine at dorsal fin and numerous small dermal denticles at the placoid scale. This species is very similar to the congeneric species, E. brucus, but differed in the shape of placoid scale (star in E. cookei vs. round in E. brucus) and distribution of placoid scale (separated in E. cookei vs. slightly overlapped in E. brucus). We adopted the Korean name, Ga-si-bi-neul-sang-eo, for E. cookei, after Kim and Ryu (2017).
