  • Digital Terrain Model is composed of two basic elements, namely, sampling and interpolation. They represent the procurement of data and the geometric reconstruction of terrain relief respectively. For evaluation DTM data, following two paremeters appear to be the most important factor, that is, the accuracy and efficiency and, in particular, the break point information significantly affect to the accuracy of DTM data. The main objective of this study is to improve the accuracy and efficiency of DTM by applying Progressive Sampling with distinct morphologic information. In this study, the total of 240 individual numerical tests has been implemented and the appropriate computer program is also developed for the test. The result of investigation shows that the Progressive Sampling with break point information improves the accuracy of DTM by 30 percent approximately.

  • A sensor network system can be an efficient tool for healthcare telemetry for multiple users due to its power efficiency. One drawback is its limited data size. This paper proposed a real-time application of data compression/decompression method in u-Health monitoring system in order to improve the network efficiency. Our high priority was given to maintain a high quality of signal reconstruction since it is important to receive undistorted waveform. Our method consisted of down sampling coding and differential Huffman coding. Down sampling was applied based on the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem and signal amplitude was taken into account to increase compression rate in the differential Huffman coding. Our method was successfully tested in a ZigBee and WLAN dual network. Electrocardiogram (ECG) had an average compression ratio of 3.99 : 1 with 0.24% percentage root mean square difference (PRD). Photoplethysmogram (PPG) showed an average CR of 37.99 : 1 with 0.16% PRD. Our method produced an outstanding PRD compared to other previous reports.

  • The Analog data is impossible to perfect reconstruct original data at a hologram data storage because of noise such as cross talk. So it is necessary that data can be stored by digital signal unavoidably. Therefore this work deals with experiments from this point of view through writing & reading of digital data. We stored 256bit digital data at one point on As-Ge-Se-S chalcogenide thin film and we reconstruct original data of 100% through the specified algorithm such as the histogram equalization, the interactive correction, etc. This result shows that the data is able to reconstruct under relative low diffraction efficiency. As the result, we expect the possibility of chalcogenide thin film for HDDS as the analysis of the effective resolution refer to reconstruction rate and diffraction efficiency.

  • This study used a non-parametric linear program, Data Envelopment Analysis to compare the efficiency of South Korean and Chinese banks from 2000 to 2008, which is said to be the reformation period of their financial structure. The sample banks were 10 commercial banks and 6 regional banks in Korea, and 4 state-owned commercial banks and 11 stock commercial banks in China. The main objective of our research is to compare their efficiency, as well as the changes in efficiency periodically according to the types of the banks. According to the periodical analysis, both of the countries showed steady increase in efficiency. This shows that finance restructure and merging were positive factors for bank's efficiency during the revolution of finance structure. The study showed that between Korea and China, the bank of Korea has higher efficiency than that of China. Although the reconstruction period happened around the same time, due to the earlier acceleration period to opening Korea's financial market, made the difference in efficiency.

  • A robust adaptive speed sensorless induction motor direct torque control (DTC) using a neural network (NN) is presented in this paper. The inherent lumped uncertainties of the induction motor DTC system such as parametric uncertainty, external load disturbance and unmodeled dynamics are approximated by the NN. An additional robust control term is introduced to compensate for the reconstruction error. A control law and adaptive laws for the weights in the NN, as well as the bounding constant of the lumped uncertainties are established so that the whole closed-loop system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov. The effect of the speed estimation error is analyzed, and the stability proof of the control system is also proved. Experimental results as well as computer simulations are presented to show the validity and efficiency of the proposed system.

  • In this paper, an encryption method to share a secret binary image is proposed. It divides the image to be encrypted into an arbitrary number of images and encrypts them using XOR process with different binary random images which was prepared by the means of the XOR process, too. Each encrypted slice image can be distributed to the authenticated ones. However, we transfer the encrypted images to the binary phase masks to strengthen the security power, that means phase masks can not be copied with general light-intensity sensitive tools such as CCDs or cameras. For decryption, we used the Mach-Zehnder interferometer in which linearly polarized two light beams in orthogonal direction, respectively. The experimental result proved the efficiency of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient SA(simulated annealing) algorithm for the synthesis of binary phase computer generated hologram. SA algorithm is a method to find the optimal solution through iterative technique. It is important that selecting cost function and parameters within this algorithm. The aplications of converentional SA algorithm to synthesize parameters within this algorithm. The applications of conventional SA algorithm to synthesize binary hologram have many problems because of inappropriate paramters and cost function. So, we propose a new cost function and a calculation technique of proper parameters required to achieve the optimal solution. Computer simulation results show that the proposed method is better than conventional method in terms of diffraction efficiency and reconstruction error. Also, we show the reconstructed images by the proposed method through optical esperiment.

  • Compared with traditional patch-based sparse representation, recent studies have concluded that group-based sparse representation (GSR) can simultaneously enforce the intrinsic local sparsity and nonlocal self-similarity of images within a unified framework. This article investigates an accelerated split Bregman method (SBM) that is based on GSR which exploits image compressive sensing (CS). The computational efficiency of accelerated SBM for the measurement matrix of a partial Fourier matrix can be further improved by the introduction of a fast Fourier transform (FFT) to derive the enhanced algorithm. In addition, we provide convergence analysis for the proposed method. Experimental results demonstrate that accelerated SBM is potentially faster than some existing image CS reconstruction methods.

  • In this paper, we made CGH patterns that had continuous amplitude distribution binary coded patterns with two different methods, and analyzed those patterns by using LCSLM (liquid crystal spatial light modulator). The error diffusion algorithm and direct quantization method were used as the binarization methods. The parameters of overall average brightness, mean square error, and diffraction efficiency were used in the comparison of reconstruction characteristics. The LCSLM which we used in this experiment was a binary reflective ferroelectric liquid crystal spatial light modulator addressed electrically with 256$\times$256 pixels, 87% fill factor and 15$\mu$m pixel pitch.

  • Humanitarian demining is very important issue not only in mine affected courtiers but also for the courtiers which are technically, politically and financially supporting the mine affected courtiers. In order to achieve higher efficiency of the mine clearance operation, new technologies can significantly contribute to the societies. Since 2002, Tohoku University, Japan has developed a sensor system "ALIS" for humanitarian demining. ALIS is a hand-held dual sensor, which combines an electromagnetic induction sensor (EMI) and a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). ALIS has a real-time sensor tracking system based on a CCD camera and which enables the image reconstruction. We have tested ALIS in Cambodia and found that it can eliminate more than 70 % metal fragments. Since 2009, 2 sets of ALIS have detected more than 80 anti-personnel mines, and cleared more than 137,000 $m^2$ in Cambodia.
