  • Recommender systems can be used to assist users in selecting required services for their tasks in Internet of Things (IoT) environments in which diverse services can be provided by utilizing IoT devices. Traditional research on recommendation mainly focuses on predicting preferences of individual users. However, in IoT environments, not only individual users but also groups of users can access services in the environments. In this study, we analyzed user groups' preferences on services and developed service recommendation approach for new groups that do not have a history of accessing IoT-services in a certain place. Our approach extends the traditional user-based collaborative filtering by considering the similarity between user groups based on their member organization. We conducted experiments with a real-world dataset collected from IoT testbed environments. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach is effective to recommend services to new user groups in IoT environments.

  • We study a learner-customized lecture recommendation project using deep learning. Recommendation systems can be easily found on the web and apps, and examples using this feature include recommending feature videos by clicking users and advertising items in areas of interest to users on SNS. In this study, the sentence similarity Word2Vec was mainly used to filter twice, and the course was recommended through the Surprise library. With this system, it provides users with the desired classification of course data conveniently and conveniently. Surprise Library is a Python scikit-learn-based library that is conveniently used in recommendation systems. By analyzing the data, the system is implemented at a high speed, and deeper learning is used to implement more precise results through course steps. When a user enters a keyword of interest, similarity between the keyword and the course title is executed, and similarity with the extracted video data and voice text is executed, and the highest ranking video data is recommended through the Surprise Library.

  • POI refers to the point of Interest in Location-Based Social Networks (LBSNs). With the rapid development of mobile devices, GPS, and the Web (web2.0 and 3.0), LBSNs have attracted many users to share their information, physical location (real-time location), and interesting places. The tremendous demand of the user in LBSNs leads the recommendation systems (RSs) to become more widespread attention. Recommendation systems assist users in discovering interesting local attractions or facilities and help social network service (SNS) providers based on user locations. Therefore, it plays a vital role in LBSNs, namely POI recommendation system. In the machine learning model, most of the training data are stored in the centralized data storage, so information that belongs to the user will store in the centralized storage, and users may face privacy issues. Moreover, sharing the information may have safety concerns because of uploading or sharing their real-time location with others through social network media. According to the privacy concern issue, the paper proposes a recommendation model to prevent user privacy and eliminate traditional RS problems such as cold-start and data sparsity.

  • Task-oriented chatbots prevail in various filed with the artificial intelligent dialogue system. The need for chatbots in customer services is growing, especially in education businesses given that there are many user inquiries and consultation requests. However, current dialogue systems only function as simple reactions or predetermined and frequently used actions. Meanwhile, the research about customized recommendation systems through artificial intelligence is very active with a wide variety of educational content. Although a dialogue system and a recommendation system is a core element in this domain, it has a limitation in that it is being conducted separately. Therefore, we present a study on a recommendation system that can recommend user-customized lectures combined with a dialogue system. With this combination, our system can respond to additional functions beyond these limitations. Through our research, we expect that work efficiency and user satisfaction will be improved by applying chatbots in education domains that are becoming more diversified and personalized.

  • Recommendation systems are used to provide items of interests for users to maximize a company's profit. Matrix factorization is frequently used by recommendation systems, based on an incomplete user-item rating matrix. However, as the number of items and users increase, it becomes difficult to make accurate recommendations due to the sparsity of data. To overcome this drawback, the use of text data related to items was recently suggested for matrix factorization algorithms. Furthermore, a word-level convolutional neural network was shown to be effective in the process of extracting the word-level features from the text data among these kinds of matrix factorization algorithms. However, it involves a large number of parameters to learn in the word-level convolutional neural network. Thus, we propose a matrix factorization algorithm which utilizes a character-level convolutional neural network with which to extract the character-level features from the text data. We also conducted a performance study with real-life datasets to show the effectiveness of the proposed matrix factorization algorithm.

  • Collaborative filtering is used the most for recommendation systems because it can recommend potential items. However, when there are not many items to be evaluated, collaborative filtering can be subject to the influence of similarity or preference depending on the situation or the whim of the evaluator. In addition, by recommending items only on the basis of similarity with items that have been evaluated previously without relation to the present situation of the user, the recommendations become less accurate. In this paper, in order to solve the above problems, before starting the collaborative filtering procedure, we calculated similarity not by comparing all the values evaluated by users but rather by comparing only those users who were above the average in order to improve the accuracy of the recommendations. In addition, in the ceaselessly changing ubiquitous computing environment, it is not proper to recommend service information based only on the items evaluated by users. Therefore, we used methods of calculating similarity wherein the users' real time context information was used and a high weight was assigned to similar users. Such methods improved the recommendation accuracy by 16.2% on average.

  • Mobile game users tend to value the opinions from their friends or SNS when making a decision on which game to play. This is because they are not satisfied with the information on suggestions provided by the conventional mobile game recommendation systems. In this research, we made a system that can reflect user preference directly by using Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). In the system, the hierarchy of AHP is composed of final goal(Level 1), evaluation basis(Level 2) and alternative(Level 3). And the system is made up of an input module, an AHP processing module, a recommendation module and database. Through comparison analysis with two conventional systems to test the performance of the system, we could find that the system got more higher satisfaction than the other systems.

  • Recently, diverse approaches retrieval services based on social network are suggested. Although existing recommendation systems can retrieve experts of specific fields, profiles and evaluations about experts that users want to be recommended are in a system. The proposed expert recommendation system can automatize collection of evaluation to evaluate experts and experts' profiles in separate systems by using the Knowledge Base and XMDR. We also attempt to construct system which can recommend a number of experts by dynamically constructing Social Network by using diverse resources distributed 로컬ly and composed of heterogeneous data sources. To resolve these problems efficiently, there is a need to provide constructed resources between heterogeneous systems with transparency and independence and provide users with a singular interface. Therefore, the proposed system in this paper uses Knowledge Base and XMDR for extracting distributed experts' profiles and designs expert recommendation system connecting Knowledge Base with Social Network.

  • The rise of music resources has led to a parallel rise in the need to manage thousands of songs on user devices. So users are tend to build play-list for manage songs. However the manual selection of songs for creating play-list is bothersome task. This paper proposes an auto play-list recommendation system considering user's context of use and preference. This system has two separate systems: mood and emotion classification system and music recommendation system. Users need to choose just one seed song for reflection their context of use and preference. The system recommends songs before the current song ends in order to fill up user play-list. User also can remove unsatisfied songs from recommended song list to adapt user preferences of the system for the next recommendation precess. The generated play-lists show well defined mood and emotion of music and provide songs that user preferences are reflected.

  • CF systems are widely used in recommendation due to the easy implementation and the outstanding performance. They have several problems such as the sparsity problem, the first-rater problem, and recommending explanation. Many studies are suggested to resolve these problems. While the influence of the sparsity problem lessens as the users' data are accumulated, but the first-rater problem is originated from the CF systems and there are a number of researches to overcome the disadvantages of CF systems based on the content-based methods. Also CF systems are black boxes, providing no explanation of working of the recommendation. In this paper we present a content-based prediction system based on the preference words, which exposes the reasoning behind a recommendation. Our system predicts user's rating of a new movie and we suggest a semiotic network-based method to solve the mismatching problem between the items. For experimental comparison, we used EachMovie and IMDb dataset.
