  • In this study, we try to find ways to recognize face recognition more stably and to improve the effectiveness and reliability of face recognition. In order to improve the face recognition rate, a lot of data must be used, but that does not necessarily mean that the recognition rate is improved. Another criterion for improving the recognition rate can be seen that the top/bottom of the recognition rate is determined depending on how accurately or precisely the degree of classification of the data to be used is made. There are various methods for classification analysis, but in this study, classification analysis is performed using a support vector machine (SVM). In this study, feature information is extracted using a normalized image with rotation information, and then projected onto the eigenspace to investigate the relationship between the feature values through the classification analysis of SVM. Verification through classification analysis can improve the effectiveness and reliability of various recognition fields such as object recognition as well as face recognition, and will be of great help in improving recognition rates.

  • In this paper, we propose an emotion recognition method using the facial images and speech signals. Six basic emotions including happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear and dislike are investigated. Facia] expression recognition is performed by using the multi-resolution analysis based on the discrete wavelet. Here, we obtain the feature vectors through the ICA(Independent Component Analysis). On the other hand, the emotion recognition from the speech signal method has a structure of performing the recognition algorithm independently for each wavelet subband and the final recognition is obtained from the multi-decision making scheme. After merging the facial and speech emotion recognition results, we obtained better performance than previous ones.

  • The surveillance system has been developed to be intelligent which can judge and cope by itself using human recognition technique. The existing face recognition is excellent at a short distance but recognition rate is reduced at a long distance. In this paper, we analyze the performance of face recognition according to interpolation and face recognition algorithm in face recognition using the multiple distance face images to training. we use the nearest neighbor, bilinear, bicubic, Lanczos3 interpolations to interpolate face image and PCA and LDA to face recognition. The experimental results show that LDA-based face recognition with bilinear interpolation provides performance in face recognition.

  • This paper describes a three dimensional motion recognition algorithm and a system which adopts the algorithm for non-contact human-computer interaction. From sequence of stereos images, five feature regions are extracted with simple color segmentation algorithm and then those are used for three dimensional locus calculation precess. However, the result is not so stable, noisy, that we introduce principal component analysis method to get more robust motion recognition results. This method can overcome the weakness of conventional algorithms since it directly uses three dimensional information motion recognition.

  • We propose a wavelet decomposition feature extraction method for the hand-written character recognition. Comparing the recognition rates of which methods with original image features and with selected features by the wavelet decomposition we study the characteristics of the proposed method. LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis) QDA(Quadratic Discriminant Analysis) RDA(Regularized Discriminant Analysis) and NN(Neural network) are used for the calculation of recognition rates. 6000 hand-written numerals from CENPARMI at Concordia University are used for the experiment. We found that the set of significantly selected wavelet decomposed features generates higher recognition rate than the original image features.

  • Recently, continuous dimensional emotion recognition from audiovisual clues has attracted increasing attention in both theory and in practice. The large amount of data involved in the recognition processing decreases the efficiency of most bimodal information fusion algorithms. A novel algorithm, namely the incomplete Cholesky decomposition based kernel cross factor analysis (ICDKCFA), is presented and employed for continuous dimensional audiovisual emotion recognition, in this paper. After the ICDKCFA feature transformation, two basic fusion strategies, namely feature-level fusion and decision-level fusion, are explored to combine the transformed visual and audio features for emotion recognition. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate the ICDKCFA approach on the AVEC 2016 Multimodal Affect Recognition Sub-Challenge dataset. The experimental results show that the ICDKCFA method has a higher speed than the original kernel cross factor analysis with the comparable performance. Moreover, the ICDKCFA method achieves a better performance than other common information fusion methods, such as the Canonical correlation analysis, kernel canonical correlation analysis and cross-modal factor analysis based fusion methods.

  • This study looked into the effect of the life style of single females in 20s and 30s on beauty behavior recognition, and spss 17.0 is used for data analysis method. As for the statistical analysis method in order to validate the measurement tools, reliability verification is conducted and life style groups are sampled using K-means taking into account factor scores by life style. To find out the difference between general beauty behavior recognition and life style, descriptive statistics and One Way ANOVA were carried out, and Duncan Test was implemented for the post examination method. Multiple regression analysis was also carried out to figure out the effect of life style on beauty behavior recognition. The result is as follows. First, according to the results of reliability verification and factor analysis for the lifestyle type and the recognition of the behavior for beauty, the types of the life style of the subjects were divided into Economic Utility, Convention Conservatism, Self Development, Showy Consumption, and Appearance Oriented, and the recognition of the behavior for beauty was named as Makeup and Hair, Cosmetic Surgery, Body Care, and Skin Care. Second, as to the recognition of the behavior for beauty based upon the lifestyle, the Appearance Oriented in Showy Consumption recorded the highest. Third, the analysis of the influence of the style on the recognition of the behavior for beauty showed that the behavior recognition for Makeup and Hair and for Skin Care was affected by the life style of Self Development, Showy Consumption, and Appearance Oriented; the behavior recognition for Cosmetic Surgery was affected by the life style of Conventional Conservatism, Showy Consumption, and Appearance Oriented; and again the behavior recognition for Body Care was by that of Economical Utility and Showy Consumption.

  • In this paper, we apply several pattern recognition algorithms to emotion recognition system with speech signal and compare the results. Firstly, we need emotional speech databases. Also, speech features for emotion recognition is determined on the database analysis step. Secondly, recognition algorithms are applied to these speech features. The algorithms we try are artificial neural network, Bayesian learning, Principal Component Analysis, LBG algorithm. Thereafter, the performance gap of these methods is presented on the experiment result section. Truly, emotion recognition technique is not mature. That is, the emotion feature selection, relevant classification method selection, all these problems are disputable. So, we wish this paper to be a reference for the disputes.
