  • In this Paper in order to break with real-time position of signal source which have first dimension motion, the N antenna is arrayed with half-circle, the incident angle of signal source from receiving power pattern to receive at receive antenna is estimated and measured, and the system that measure horizontal moving distance of signal source is designed. Signal source is constructed by 10-20dBm transmitter power which frequency is 10.52GHz of X band, and on horizontally moving the position of signal source. validity of new method is confirmed.

  • In this paper, the method of computing demand rate with respect to a transformer capacity is proposed and addressed to predict a future demand rate. The simulation data are taken from switchgears of a real medium voltage transformer. Data taken from the electrical instrument at 22.9 kVY power receiving panels are employed to evaluate the correlation between demand rate and power usage of transformer. It is verified a usefulness with respect to an proposed index of demand rate for transformer by using a least square error of regressive modeling, As a result of investigation and simulation on the spot to a few buildings, it is considered that there is necessity to make a partial amendment of demand rate being applicable currently for electrical energy saving in domestic.

  • An interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is receiving increased attention for many industrial applications because of its high torque to inertia ratio, superior power density, and high efficiency. IPMSM is necessary to use the accurate information of the inductance for the precise torque control owing to the reluctance torque. This paper presents two method to measure the each-axis Inductance. The first method uses the peak current that is measured by applying the pulsewise voltage on the each position of IPMSM. The second uses the hysteresis loop of the flux and current measured by applying the positive and negative pulsewise voltage alternately on the each-axis.

  • For the economical and reasonable operation of electric power system according to continual increase of electric power demand and decrease of load factor, the potential application of superconducting magnertic energy storage [SMES] with high efficiency and fast response in the electric utility is receiving attractive attension. In the light of this background, to confirm the basic principle of SMES, theoretical study, design technique and fabrication procedure for superconducting coil, current lead, cryostat, measuring and protection system of SMES are described in detail. Especially, a new design technique for superconducting coil and current lead is porposed and it was proved experimentally by the performance test of SMES which is developed for the first time in our country. At the peak operating current 200A, the maximum magnetic field amd stored energy of the coil are 3.52T and 2500J, espectively. The thermal and mechanical stability of 2500J SMES is also confirmed experimetally by its characteristics test, AC loss, protection system, charge and discharge test. The experimetal results show good characteristics of energy storage system.

  • In this paper, we consider the diffuse type of indoor wireless optical communication (WOC) system. To find the channel characteristics of indoor wireless infrared communication system, we investigate the simulation process to get the impulse response of diffuse type and analyze the scenario of the indoor structure which we have built. The simulation results of the impulse response include power ratio and time delay due to bounce times. We get and discuss the receiving power distribution according to six configurations which have different transmitter and receiver positions and reflection coefficients of the indoor structure assumed. The results of this paper are useful to design the indoor wireless optical communication systems.

  • Since the radio spectrum is limited, future wireless system will have micro cellular architecture in order to provide multimedia traffic services on personal communicatons network. The small coverage area of micro cellular systems results in frequent hadnoffs and location updates. We focuse on network load and terminal power due to frequent location updates and propose a location tracking scheme using embedded-pager PCS terminals. The proposed scheme is expected to minimize theconsumption of PCS terminal powr and improve the receiving rate of callee because of the power saving mechanism and the embedded-pager PCS terminal. This paper proposes signaling flows among the network elements for the proposed location tracking scheme. The signaling flows are accomodated to not only the existed network architectures but alsothe ATM backbone network arcitecture. To verify the signaling flows, we used petri-Net model. The resutls show that the signaling flows are suitable to our proposed location tracking scheme.

  • Multi-level inverters are now receiving widespread interest form the industrial drives for high power variable speed applications. Especially, for the high power variable speed applications, a diode clamped multi-level inverter has been widely used. However, it has the inherent problem that the voltage of the link capacitors fluctuates. This paper describes a voltage control scheme effectively to suppress the DC-link potential fluctuation for a diode clamped four-level inverter. The current to flow from/into the each link capacitor is analyzed and the operation limit is obtained when a conventional SVPWM is used. To overcome the operation limit, a modified carrier-based SVPWM is proposed. Various simulation and experiment results are presented to verify the proposed voltage control scheme for DC-link voltage balancing.

Automated Wireless Recharging for Small UAVs

  • We develop a wireless, contact free power transfer mechanism that is safer than the direct metallic contact and robust to imperfect alignment on landing at the base station. A magnetic field is created using inductors on both the transmitting and receiving sides. We use the inductive wireless recharging to increase autonomy and decrease the sensor interference by reducing the inductor loop size. By locating four independent small receiver loops and corresponding four circuits around the quadrotor UAV, we can increase safety from circuit malfunctions in comparison to the use of just one loop. On the base station, four folding robotic bars are used to realign the receiver loops over the transmitter loops. After adequate recharging as measured by battery voltages or power consumption at the bae station, the UAV sends a signal to the base station to open the robotic bars and takes off once freed from the robotic bars.

  • LabVIEW is faster than text language based program regarding development time and can monitor the output of data fast without the separate compiling work as the graphic-based graphical programming language. And, its coding is fast because it is designed by connecting the function with the wire and its has the merit of relatively intuitive UI. In this paper, data transmission and receiving between the program that is implemented in C language as CAN communication method that is strong against noise and used in power electronics application field variously and LabVIEW based program are explained. And, the design of LabVIEW based CAN communication program, data analysis and GUI screen composition that is convenient for monitoring are shown.

Design and Analysis of Switching Timing for High Power GPS Meaconing Jammer

  • The purpose of satellite navigation meaconing jamming is to make the target GPS receiver calculate false navigation by meaconing the received satellite signals. At this time, since the received and transmitted signals have the same frequency, the back-lobe reduction level of antenna should be -160 dB when the Effective Radiated Power (ERP) is 1 Watt (30 dBm). Therefore, meaconing jamming is impossible by merely reducing the back-lobe level of antenna when the transmitter and receiver are in proximity to each other. In general, the transmitter and receiver are isolated by the time division method to eliminate such transmission/reception interference. This paper studied the optimal switching timing between transmitting and receiving when isolating the time division transmission and reception for GPS meaconing jamming.
