Many spoofing detection studies have been conducted to cope with the most difficult types of deception among various disturbances of GPS, such as jamming, spoofing, and meaconing. In this paper, we propose a spoofing detection scheme based on elevation masked-relative received power between GPS L1 and L2 signals in a system using a multi-band array antenna. The proposed scheme focuses on enabling spoofing to be normally detected and minimizes the possibility of false detection in an environment where false alarms may occur due to pattern distortion among elements of an array antenna. The pattern distortion weakens the GPS signal strength at low elevation. It becomes confusing to detect a spoofing signal based on the relative power difference between GPS L1 and L2, especially when GPS L2 has weak signal strength. We propose design parameters for the relative power threshold including beamforming gain, the minimum received power difference between L1 and L2, and the patch antenna gain difference between L1 and L2. In addition, in order to eliminate the weak signal strength of GPS L2 in the spoofing detection process, we propose a rotation matrix that sets the elevation mask based on platform coordinates. Array antennas generally do not have high usefulness in commercial areas where receivers are operated alone, but are considered essential in military areas where GPS receivers are used together with signal processing for beamforming in the direction of GPS satellites. Through laboratory and live sky tests using the device under test, the proposed scheme with an elevation mask detects spoofing signals well and reduces the probability of false detection relative to that without the elevation mask.

This paper presents a listening angle estimation scheme based on received signal power difference (RSPD) using acoustic signals, and analyzes the performance of the proposed scheme. The RSPD as the measurement to estimate the listening angle is considered for the first time in this paper. We mathematically analyze the error characteristics of the proposed scheme and present the characteristics of the proposed scheme through the Monte-Carlo simulation. We also conduct actual experiments in an anechoic room to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme to compare with the conventional scheme.
Monopulse active homing radar requires velocity and angle information of target to track fast moving target. Target velocity can be estimated by measuring the frequency shift between transmitted and received frequencies. Angle information is obtained by measuring boresight error. Measurement of doppler frequency component in received signal is done through FFT analysis and interpolation algorithm for fine tuning. Boresight errors in azimuth and elevation axes are proportional to the power of each difference channel relative to sum channel. The target signal power in difference channel is estimated more precisely by measuring the power of FFT result cell of maximum ...

This study receives the noise transmitted in a constant audio frequency range through a microphone array in which the noise(like grease in a pan) occurs on the power supply line due to the troublesome partial discharge(arc). Then by going through a series of signal processing of removing noise, this study measures the distance and direction up to the noise caused by the troublesome partial discharge(arc) and monitors the result by displaying in the analog and digital method. After these, it determines the state of each size and judges the distance and direction of problematic part. When the signal sound transmitted by the signal source of bad insulator is received on each microphone, the signal comes only in the frequency range of 20 kHz by passing through the circuit of amplification and 6th low pass filter. Then, this signal is entered in a digital value of digital signal processing(TMS320F2812) through the 16-bit A/D conversion. By doing so, the sound distance, direction and coordinate of bad insulator can be detected by realizing the correlation method of detecting the arriving time difference occurring on each microphone and the algorithm of detecting maximum time difference.

To find a location, GPS has been wildly used. But, it is hard to use in indoor because of very weak signal level. To meet indoor requirements, there have been many studies applying wireless communication networks such as WLAN, UWB and ZigBee. Among these, ZigBee is widely adopted in many WSN applications because it has an advantage of low-power and low-cost. In ZigBee, the RSSI is used as range measurement for ad-hoc network. The RSSI are converted to ranges using the signal attenuation model and these ranges become inputs of positioning methods. The obtained position with RSSI has large error because of its poor accuracy. To overcome this problem, ultrasonic sensors are added in many researches. By measuring the arrival time difference of ZigBee and ultrasound as a range measurement, the precise position can be found. However, there are still many problems: scheduling of beacons to transmit signals in a correct order, addition and synchronization of beacons and low-rate positioning rate. At this paper, an efficient method to solve these problems is proposed. In the proposed method, a node transmits ZigBee and ultrasound signal simultaneously. And beacons find the range with the received signals and send it back to a node with ZigBee. The position is computed in a node with the received ranges. In addition, a new positioning algorithm to solve the risk of the divergence in the linearization method and the singularity problem in the Savarese method is presented. Both static and dynamic experimental results show 0.02m RMS errors with high output rate.

CL1(closed loop mode 1) is one of the closed loop transmit diversity schemes defined by 3GPP WCDMA and adjusts the relative phases of the transmitted signals at the two transmit antennas, thereby maximizing the power of the received signal at the user equipment. A key component of this scheme is to encode the phase difference between two received signals arrived at the user equipment via two different transmit antennas and to send it back to the base station. This paper proposes a new phase difference representation based on the adaptive delta modulation and compares its performance with the corresponding one of CL1. Computer simulations show that, in a slowly fading environment, the proposed scheme produces more realistic representation of the phase difference than the on of the CL1, resulting in a lower BER.

Utilization problem of the limited spectrum is the one of the most important issues in wireless communication systems. Cognitive radio technique which is finding and utilizing frequency holes is also one of those techniques. Specially, the spectrum sensing technique to detect the primary user signal is a core technology in cognitive radio area. In this paper, we propose the spectrum sensing algorithm using Bussgang theorem. The proposed algorithm calculates the statistical difference between the Gaussian noise and the primary user signal by applying Bussgang theorem to the received signal. The algorithm is not affected by noise uncertainty and can detect the primary user signal in the very low SNR environment. We evaluate the algorithm through computer simulations with 12 ATSC A/74 DTV signal captures based on IEEE 802.22 WRAN and formulate the sensing threshold for the proposed scheme.
The direction and spectra of underwater sound wave were a remarkable contrast to the sound wave in the air because of the difference of transmissive medium. The linear hydrophone array of passive system has so far been applied to find out the direction and spectra of underwater sound wave from the sources for many purposes. The conventional methods are generally classified into two systems such as, the system which varying frequency responses, other parameters and pattern of signal like an adaptive array controlled by internal feedback, and another system which obtaining maximum of S/N ratio by giving a appropriate delay and a weighting coefficient in the output of each hydrophone. The array device of passive system can easily change the amplitude and the phase of signal by separately controlled hydrophone. And here we introduce a method that the spectral analyzing and the direction finding can be simultaneously carried out using a linear array of hydrophones. By making a circular convolution of output of signal from each hydrophone with appropriate rectangular weighting coefficient on the array, a sharp response of single lobe directivity and the spectral analyzing by time averaging were simultaneously obtained. In tile computer simulation of the array system with the length of 250cm and the interhydrophone distance of l0cm the power levels of sound signals received from given array direction were 16dB higher than those from the other directions when processing with rectangular weightings, and 8dB higher when processing with rectangular sound signals and rectangular weightings.

Return signals of a ground penetrating radar(GPR) for mine detection at various frequencies and soil moisture contents are analyzed in this paper. We first compute the dielectric constant, conductivity and attenuation loss based on clay loam which is Korea standard soil. The mine-detection images of GPR at various frequencies are also obtained using the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) technique. Then, the signal-to-clutter ratio(SCR) and received power of the radar are studied. It is shown that the variable frequency channels are suitable for a GPR to detect landmines at various soil conditions.

In the case of a scanning type multi-channel LiDAR sensor, the distance error called a walk error may occur due to a difference in received signal power. This work error causes different distance values to be output for the same object when scanning the surrounding environment based on multiple LiDAR sensors. For minimizing walk error in overlapping regions when scanning all directions using multiple sensors, to calibrate distance for each channels using convolution on external system. Four sensors were placed in the center of 6×6 m environment and scanned around. As a result of applying the proposed filtering method, the distance error could be improved by about 68% from average of 0.5125 m to 0.16 m, and the standard deviation could be improved by about 48% from average of 0.0591 to 0.030675.
