  • In mobile GIS environments, a client needs to receive the isogram data with a topographical map from a server, if the mobile client wants to display map with elevation information. Because the elevation data size is normally quite large, the client will suffer some problems to receive the elevation data from server. The main reason is a resource limitation of the mobile devices. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes new data structures and algorithms. They are designed for efficient transmission of contour data to a client. Because of the contour data are generated as a vector style from elevation information stored at a server, the proposed algorithms are focused to minimize the transmission data volume and time.

  • We treat the problem of channel estimation and interference cancellation in multiuser ultra-wide-band (UWB) communication systems over multipath fading channels. The UWB system under consideration employs a random time-hopping impulse radio format. We develop a channel estimation method based on linear weighted algorithm. An iterative channel estimation and interference cancellation scheme is proposed to successively improve the receiver performance. We also consider systems employing multiple transmit and/or receive antennas. For systems with multiple receive antennas, we develop a diversity receiver for the wellseparated antennas. For systems with multiple transmit antennas, we propose to make use of Alamouti’s space-time transmission scheme, and develop the corresponding channel estimation and interference cancellation receiver techniques. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the performance of various UWB receiver techniques developed in this paper.

  • In this paper, the confirmation method of target detection for the vehicle mounted metal detector (MD) has been described. The vehicle mounted MD with the arrayed 6 coils to detect the width of 2.4 m was demonstrated. It is important and necessary to inform the location of the objects detected by the MD. The confirmation method of target detection was verified by using the MD GUI and the analysis of the receive signal processing. The receive signal processing is performed by comparing the threshold and the difference of the signal calibrated at initial location and the signal detected at present location.

  • In this paper, we introduce a packet diversity scheme to increase uplink channel utilization in a wireless network where forward error correction is used. The packet diversity allows neighbor base stations to receive uplink packets from a mobile terminal in order to increase the utilization of the uplink channel. By allowing multiple base stations to receive the same packets, we can improve the error correction capability in an uplink channel. By incorporating the packet diversity we can reduce the parity overhead of each packet for a given tolerable loss probability, which improves the link efficiency.

  • For the piezoelectric vibrator, PZT, in a general transmit-receive sensor using the ultrasonic flowmeter, the characteristics of frequency response relating to the backing materials were analyzed with the Mason equivalent circuit for design and the sensitivity of fabricated transducer relating to the matching materials was measured and discussed. The results those were measured in water for the transmit-receive characteristics of each transducer can be applied to the flowmeter sensor.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the packet blocking probability of a finite buffer in a network interface unit. In general, a network interface unit which provides a means of interface between the network and computer has a microprocessor and a protocol processor for the network access protocols. It also has a receive buffer for the arriving packets from the network which is served by the microprocessor with service interruption by the protocol processor. In this paper, we modeled the receive buffer as a discrete time server with service interruption, and obtained the packet blocking probability using the mini-slot approximation.

  • For driver's convenience, the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) requires a system which controls the vehicle to keep the distance among the automobiles constant. This paper describes the microstrip array antennas designed to operate at 24 GHz, and used as a direction indicator of moving vehicles. $8{\times}2$ transmit away antenna with wide beamwidth, $8{\times}4$ receive center array antenna, and two $8{\times}8$ receive array antennas with narrow beamwidth were designed. The measured result shows that the designed array antennas arc suitable fur detecting 3 directions of the vehicle when the scan angle is within the restricted area.

  • Successive interference cancellation(SIC) for the uplink of MC-CDMA mobile communications systems is an effective method to improve performance. We propose a successive interference cancellation(SIC) technique for the uplink of MC-CDMA mobile systems with multiple receive antennas. The destination uses optimum combining(OC) to combine the signals from an OFDM Demodulator with multiple receiving antennas, and applies SIC processing to the combined signals. Achieved interference cancellation order is depends on the signal to interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) at the output of the optimum combiner. Monte-Carlo simulations are employed to verify the proposed technique.

  • Having information is most important at the present age. Internet is main source of obtaining information and mobile telecommunication let people communicate each other without any time and space limitation. Recently, advanced technology in telecommunication makes two-way service possible. So, the mobile internet service combined internet with mobile telecommunication is widely and rapidly promoted. Therefore user can transmit and receive a lot of information without time and space restriction using various application technologies. This paper deals with machinery that makes human do office work conveniently in vehicle using mobile internet service. Namely, it tries to design mobile internet machinery combining of wireless payment, GPS module, mobile internet, and mobile office etc. And that can transmit and receive e-mail or documents etc. This machinery has various objects, and design process has complexity. • This paper proposes a single-mode Lamb-wave generation and detection system using a pulsed laser as a generator and an air-coupled transducer combined with the wavelet transform analysis, as the detector. The laser source with arrayed linear slits was used to generate Lamb-wave which is able to control the wavelength of Lamb-wave to be generated by changing the slits separation. An ari-coupled transducer was used to receive Lamb-wave, which can selectably receive a single mode of leaky Lamb wave by changing the oblique angle of transducer, since the leaky Lamb-wave has unique leaky-angle according to the mode. Also, the received signal was processed by wavelet transform for the analysis in domain of time-frequency. The theoretical dipersion curve and the experimetal result was compared to show good agreement.
