  • The purpose of this study were to investigate the effects of knee brace on the knee muscular neuro-biomechanical variables during the rebound in female highschool basketball players. Twelve high school female ($17.9{\pm}0.8years$) basketball players rebound jumped for maximal vertical height to sufficiently stress the anterior cruciate ligament with and without knee brace. Kinematic data were collected to estimate the knee flexion, abduction angles and jump height. The EMG data from the biceps femoris and rectus femoris was used to estimate the ratio of quadriceps muscle activity. Female athletes with knee brace showed more reduced the knee abduction angle and the ratio of quadriceps muscle activity at foot contact phase than without knee brace. In conclusion, Female athletes with brace reduced knee anterior cruciate ligament loads.

  • Air springs are designed to support loads using the volume elasticity in a cylindrical shaped air bag made of a composite material with a rubber matrix and two plies of reinforced fibers. Recently, applications of these springs have been expanded from railway vehicles to passenger cars. The current study presents a finite element analysis of a manufactured air spring for a passenger car. The analysis was conducted including the mounting steps of the air bag using a static loading condition. A method for controlling the internal pressure and displacements during the mounting step was developed. The characteristic load curve and the shape of the air bag were in good agreement with the experimental data with respect to the design height, the bump height and the rebound height. Results indicate that ply angles of fibers vary from 38 degrees to 56 degrees during static loading.

농구 리바운드 점프 후 착지 시 성별에 따른 무릎의 근신경 생체역학적 요인의 차이 규명 (A Comparison of Sex-based Differences in Knee Neuromuscular Biomechanical Factors during Basketball Rebound Jump)

  • The purpose of this study were to investigate the differences between female and male basketball players in knee neuromuscular biomechanical factors during basketball rebound jump. Twelve high school female ($17.9{\pm}0.8years$) and twelve male ($19.0{\pm}1.6years$) basketball players rebound jumped for maximal vertical height to sufficiently stress the anterior cruciate ligament. Kinematic and ground reaction data were collected and combined with inverse dynamics to estimate the knee extensor and abductor torque. The EMG data from the biceps femoris and rectus femoris was used to estimate the ratio of quadriceps muscle activity. Female athletes showed more reduced knee flexion at foot contact, more increased knee abduction, extensor and abductor knee joint torque at foot contact, and quadriceps ratio at stance phase than those of male athletes. In conclusion, Female athletes showed differences in knee neuromuscular biomechanical factors than male athletes during basketball rebound jump.

평판에 충돌하는 미립자의 유동분석 (Analysis of Particle Motion Impinging on a Flat Plate)

  • The particles velocity in the instantaneous flow field and velocity change of particles along the jet centerline for various particle diameter in a circular turbulent impingement jet are investigated by using particle image velocimetry(PIV) and an equation of particle motion simplified by terms of inertia forces, drag and gravitational force. The jet Reynolds number was 3300 and 8700, and glass beads of 30,58 and 100$\mu$m in diameter were used. The PIV results show that the direction and size of velocity depends not only on the number density of particle but also on the particle momentum. The results obtained form calculation suggest that the particle velocity near the first impingement region deviated from local air velocity, which accords well with the PIV results. The rebound height of particle increase with the particle diameter. In the second-impingement, particle velocities increased sluggishly with Re=3300 but particle velocities uniformed with Re=8700 in stagnation region.

액적 충돌 거동에 대한 표면 패턴의 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effects of Surface Patterns on Droplet Impingement Behaviors)

  • 본 논문에서는 나노임프린트 리소그래피 기술을 이용하여 다양한 발수 표면을 제작하였으며, 발수기능의 안정성을 향상시키기 위해 액적의 충돌 거동에 대하여 평탄한 단위면적에 대한 구조물의 면적비인 표면 변수의 영향에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 액적의 충돌 거동을 연구하기 위해 액적 충돌 시험을 통하여 충돌한 액적이 되튐에서 분산으로 천이 되는 임계높이를 측정하였다. 높은 표면 변수에서는 낮은 임계높이가 관찰되었으나, 낮은 표면변수에서는 임계높이가 증가하는 경향을 관찰하였다. 그러나, 표면변수가 더욱 감소할 경우 임계높이가 다시 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 관찰된 결과는 높은 임계높이를 위해서는 최적의 표면 형상 설계가 요구됨을 제시하고 있다.

  • This paper presents the results of field application test on the manufacturing of high fluidity concrete by applying flowing methods with segregation reducing type superplasticizer. Base concrete is made with 20% of fly ash, which is flowed during the transportation. According to test results, fluidity, placeability and segregation reducing performance meet the range of high fluidity concrete after flowing, while air loss occurs due to fly ash. There are no noticeable differences in compressive strengths between non-compacting and compacting methods. According to non-destructive tests with rebound and core strength test, we cannot detect any differences in strength according to the height in the structures.

Development and Application of a New Spray Impingement Model Considering Film Formation in a Diesel Engine

  • The present article presents an extension to the computational model for spray/wall interaction and liquid film processes that has been dealt with in the earlier studies (Lee and Ryou, 2000a). The extensions incorporate film spread due to impingement forces and dynamic motion induced by film inertia to predict the dynamic characteristics of wall films effectively. The film model includes the impingement pressure of droplets, tangential momentum transfer due to the impinging droplets on the film surface and the gas shear force at the film surface. Validation of the spray/wall interaction model and the film model was carried out for non-evaporative diesel sprays against several sources of experimental data. The computational model for spray/wall interactions was in good agreement with experimental data for both spray radius and height. The film model in the present work was better than the previous static film model, indicating that the dynamic effects of film motion should be considered for wall films. On the overall the present film model was acceptable for predication of the film radius and thickness.

고온 열판에 충돌하는 액적의 거동에 대한 유동가시화 연구 (A Visualization Study on the Characteristics of Droplets Impinging on a Hot Surface)

  • Hydrophobic characteristics of high temperature metal surface were investigated by high-speed visualization of water droplet impact. An aluminum plate was used as the sample plate and the initial diameter of a water droplet was 2 mm. Transient behavior of a single droplet impinging on the surface with and without heating was captured by using a high speed camera running at 4,000 frames per second. The Leidenfrost phenomenon was demonstrated for the case of $300^{\circ}C$ surface temperature, however there was no rebounding of droplet on the cold plate due to hydrophilic nature. The experimental results show that the shape evolution of a droplet impinging on the surface varies with the Weber number, i.e. the ratio of impact inertia to capillary force. The overall water-repellent characteristics of the heated surface was very similar to that of the super hydrophobic surfaces.

  • In this study, the performance of a digital pile rebounding and penetration monitoring system (DPRMS) is evaluated and the measurement precision of the DPRMS is improved. The DPRMS is a high speed line-scanning camera system to measure the rebound and penetration of a pile in a construction work. A main problem in the DPRMS is a measurement error, which is caused by a shock or vibration due to a hammer impact. The measurement error is investigated by analyzing vibration signals of the DPRMS during the impact. Moreover, the frequency response functions of the DPRMS are also analyzed. As a result, it is found that the tripod height has an influence on the DPRMS performance and a shorter tripod is better. One more founding in this study is that the DPRMS should be placed with a appropriate distance from a pile for improving the measurement precision.

투수시트를 적용하여 잉여수를 탈수한 콘크리트의 강도 특성 (Characteristics of Excess Water Dewatered Concrete Using Permeable Liner)

  • 이 연구에서는 콘크리트 타설 시 발생하는 잉여수를 제거하여 피복 콘크리트의 성능을 향상 시키고자 거푸집에 구멍을 뚫지 않은 일반 유로폼에 투수시트를 부착하여 타설한 콘크리트의 물-결합재비 종류 및 시험체 높이에 따른 강도 특성을 분석하였다. 슈미트해머 반발경도 및 압축강도의 경우 투수시트면이 물-결합재비가 높은 배합일수록 크게 나타났으며, 시험체의 높이에 따라서는 상부보다는 중부 및 하부에서 크게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. SEM 분석 결과의 경우 수화물의 생성형태는 유사하였으나 투수시트면이 일반면에 비해 공극이 확연히 감소되고 밀실해 지는 것으로 나타났으며, MIP 분석 결과 투수시트를 사용하였을 경우 $0.01{\mu}m$ 이하 공극량이 최대 50%까지 감소되어 공극이 치밀해지는 것으로 나타났다.
