  • Non-Photorealistic rendering techniques, such as toon rendering, can enhance the quality of hand-drawn cell-animation images greatly with less effort. For this reason, to on rendering is one of the popular techniques used in the cell-animation image production field. The existing toon rendering techniques, however, have not been effective enough for the real-time image processing that the techniques have not been adequate for some processes that needs immediate responses such as virtual-realities, or video games. This paper will suggest the real-time toon rendering to overcome the limits through real-time outline detection and phong shading. In addition, a effective result-image is created as adding a shadow and a execution time remains by real-time through fast shadow generation algorithm.

  • Panoramic image creation has been extensively studied. Existing methods use customized hardware, or apply post-processing methods to seamlessly stitch images. These result in an increase in either cost or complexity. In addition, images can only be stitched under certain conditions such as existence of characteristic points of the images. This paper proposes a low cost and easy-to-use system that produces realtime panoramic video. We use an off-the-shelf embedded platform to capture multiple images, and these are then transmitted to a server in a compressed format to be merged into a single panoramic video. Finally, we analyze the performance of the implemented system by measuring time to successfully create the panoramic image.

  • Ray tracing is one of the classical global illumination methods to generate a photo-realistic rendering image with various lighting effects such as reflection and refraction. However, there are some restrictions on real-time applications because of its computation load. In order to overcome these limitations, many researches of the ray tracing based on GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) have been presented up to now. In this paper, we implement the ray tracing algorithm by J. Purcell and combine it with two methods in order to improve the rendering performance for interactive applications. First, intersection points of the primary ray are determined efficiently using rasterization on graphics hardware. We then construct the acceleration structure of 3D objects to improve the rendering performance. There are few researches on a detail analysis of improved performance by these considerations in ray tracing rendering. We compare the rendering system with environment mapping based on GPU and implement the wireless remote rendering system. This system is useful for interactive applications such as the realtime composition, augmented reality and virtual reality.

  • A new recognition algorithm which decides thge opening & the closing states of subject's eye and isn't affected by the subject's background is proposed. And it is tested in circumstances in which subject's motions are not restricted using the developed system. AERS (Automatic Eye opening & closing Recognition System) . The significant characteristic of the AERS is that it dosen't need any extra hardware except a formal CCD carmera and an image grabber but it works so well and so fast. The AFRS wcould be particularly well suited to a tray of communications of patients in a hospital, who can not communicate othertvise.

  • 1. Introduction of Camera Detection system Camera Detection system is an equipment that can detect realtime traffic information by image processing techniques. This information can be used to analyze and control road traffic flow. It is also used as a method to detect and control traffic flow for ITS(Intelligent Transportation System). Traffic information includes speed, head way, traffic flow, occupation time and length of queue. There are many detection systems for traffic data. But video detection system can detect multiple lanes with only one camera and collect various traffic information. So it is thought to be the most efficient method of all detection system. Though the...

  • A laminated plate which contains debonds is visualized and evaluated nondestructively by holographic interferometry. Characteristic vibration frequencies of the plate are found in which debonds appear as anomalies in the fringe pattern for realtime holography. A set of time-average holograms for the vibrating plate are generated at various positions using a piezoelectric transducer, and the anomalies in each reconstructed hologram are enhanced through image processing. The images are added together to show the distribution of debonds for the whole area of the test plate.

  • About 50 percent of irrigation and drainage facilities in our country are deteriorated as they were constructed over 40 years ago. Worsening the problems in function might be caused by these facilities' constant exposure to the elements. With these reason, efficient maintenance and management of irrigation and drainage facili- ties are required. A computerized system is tailored on the basis of the each characteristics'data of irrigation and drainage facilities. The unified management system to be introduced in this study is a package program consisting of three subprograms. Facility Management(FM) system, the first component, is a relational database system for image processing and registering the characteristics of irrigation and drainage facilities. The objective of this program is to manage the ledger of each facilities and to scan the characteristics of facilities. Telemeter(TM) system, the second component, monitors and processes the data from the sensors statistically. This system is preprogramed for the complete design of TC/TM system. Hydrological Data Management(HDM) system, the third component, executes the hydrological analysis using meteorological data. The unified management system can provide the latest information, such as image data, lists and items of facilities, and items of reforming and rebuilding etc., of the facilities to the manager. At the same time, this system can manage hydrological and meteorological data in realtime.

  • Biometric technology with the advance of deep learning enabled the new types of content. Especially, face recognition can provide immersion in terms of convenience and non-compulsiveness, but most commercial content has limitations that are limited to application areas. In this paper, we attempted to overcome these limitations, implement content that can utilize face recognition technology based on realtime video feed. We used Unity engine for high quality graphics, but performance degradation and frame drop occurred. To solve them, we augmented Dlib toolkit and adjusted the resolution image.

  • Background subtraction from video data is one of the most important task in various realtime machine vision applications. In this paper, a new scheme for background subtraction based on the hexagonal pixel sampling is proposed. Generally it has been found that hexagonal spatial sampling yields smaller quantization errors and remarkably improves the understanding of connectivity. We try to apply the hexagonally sampled image to the LBP based non-parametric background subtraction algorithm. Our scheme makes it possible to omit the bilinear pixel interpolation step during the local binary pattern generation process, and, consequently, can reduce the computation time. Experimental results revealed that our approach based on hexagonal spatial sampling is very efficient and can be utilized in various background subtraction applications.
