Flash memory offers attractive features, such as non-volatile, shock resistance, fast access, and low power consumption for data storage. However, it has one main drawback of requiring an erase before updating the contents. Furthermore, flash memory can only be erased limited number of times. To overcome limitations, flash memory needs a software layer called flash translation layer (FTL). The basic function of FTL is to translate the logical address from the file system like file allocation table (FAT) to the physical address in flash memory. In this paper, a new FTL algorithm called an efficient and advanced space-management technique (EAST) is proposed. EAST improves the performance by optimizing the number of log blocks, by applying the state transition, and by using reallocation blocks. The results of experiments show that EAST outperforms FAST, which is an enhanced log block scheme, particularly when the usage of flash memory is not full.

In this paper, we propose a fast MAS reallocation method that can avoid reservation conflicts in the DRP process of WiMedia system in real time. WiMedia MAC DRP has been developed aimed QoS support for audio and video transmission that generate traffic periodically. The size variation of the video streaming data causes DRP reservation conflicts frequently, so that DRP could not support QoS of the video streaming service which is delay-sensitive. Fast MAS reallocation method could avoid reservation conflicts in real-time analyzing reservation requests information of the other device. Our proposed method is evaluated with test sequences using the software simulation and implemented in hardware/software with the integrated WiMedia MAC/PHY system.
In order to cope with DoS (Denial of Service) attacks disturbing delivery of intended services by exhausting resources of computing nodes, we need a solution to recognize important resources for the essential services which have to be maintained under any circumstances and to adapt the system to the urgent situation and reconfigure itself properly. In this paper, we present a two-phase scheme to handle the problem. In the first phase, by means of dynamic resource reallocation within a computing node, we try to make the selected essential services survive even after the occurrence of an attack. For the second phase when it becomes impossible to continue the service in spite of the actions taken in the first phase, we apply server replication in order to continue the transparent provision of the essential services with the end users by utilizing redundant computing nodes previously arranged. Experimental result obtained on a testbed reveals the validity of the proposed scheme. A comparison with other proposed schemes has been conducted by analyzing the performance and the cost.

In recent times, private sector allocates the risk between private sector investors in terms of equity transaction and agreement transaction. The additional risk-allocation have made the cash flows of private sector investors fluctuated and some of the PPP projects delayed. Therefore, analyzing the impact of the risk reallocation between private sector investors on their cash flows is critical for encouraging the private sector participants. In this study, a model to evaluate the financial viability of PPP project is developed based on the discounted cash flow analysis. The model can analyze the variability by equity and agreement transaction by identifying key variables of equity transaction, influence factors of agreement transaction, and relationship between the transactions and investor's profitability. It is expected that the private sector can determine the investment decision for PPP projects when the risk reallocation is occurred.

In this paper, we propose a real-time bandwidth allocation scheme of multiplexed VBR MPEG video sequences over ATM network. In order to real time processing, multiplexed source is estimated by linear-prediction per measurement period. If the result CLR value were not sufficient, we proposed a overallocation method and a reallocation one to guarantee QoS. We used two kinds of sources, one is random multiplexed source made of foot different video sources, the other is the one considered the arrange of I frame in the sequence. With those sources, we analyzed the linear prediction, compared overallocation with reallocation method. As a result, in both schemes, the objected CLR value is achieved, the sufficient value COR under 10% when mp is over 1.8 sec, the utilization is over 0.9. Especially, the COR value of the reallocation scheme is better at the same condition.

In this paper, we propose Active bandwidth allocation scheme of multiplexed streamed MPEG video sequences over BcN network. In order to real time processing, multiplexed source is estimated by linear-prediction per measurement period. n the result target quality value were not sufficient, we proposed a over-allocation method and a reallocation one to guarantee QoS. We used two kinds of sources, one is random multiplexed source made of four different video sources, the other is the one considered the arrange of I frame in the sequence. With those sources, we analyzed the linear prediction, compared over-allocation with reallocation method. As a result, In both schemes, the objected target quality value is achieved, the sufficient valuce bandwidth under 10% when measurement period is over 1.8 sec, the utilization is over 0.9. Especially, the Target of quality value of the reallocation scheme is better at the same condition.

The algorithm of multiple channel signal processing requires the flexibility of variable frequency band, efficient allocation of transmission power, and flexible frequency band reallocation to satisfy various service types which requires different transmission rates and frequency band. This paper proposes an improved multiple channel signal processing for converting the frequency band of multiple carrier signals efficiently using a window function and DFT in the time domain. In contrast to the previous algorithm of multiple-channel signal processing performing band-pass signal processing in the frequency domain, the proposed algorithm is a method of block signal processing using a window function in the time domain. In addition, the complexity of proposed algorithm of the window function is lower than that of the previous algorithm performing signal processing in the frequency domain, and it performs the frequency band transform efficiently. The computer simulation result shows that the perfect reconstruction of output signal and the flexible frequency band reallocation is performed efficiently by the proposed algorithm.

The introduction of fast packet switching networks such as the ATM leads to the possibility of video services with constant quality. However, the fixed traffic descriptor(TD), which is defined by ATM Forum and ITU-T, can not simultaneously satisfy network efficiency and video quality. This paper presents fast resource reallocation protocol (FRRP) which can provide an effective compromise between network efficiency and video quality. This protocol reallocates the network resources and then adapts the traffic to the reallocated resources. In the proposed method, a video session is divided into several time-intervals according to its generated traffic and TD is calculated which well characterizes the traffic during the specific subdivided interval. In addition, a system model, where MPEG coding algorithm and network control are unified, is proposal and the performance of the FRRP in terms of cell loss rate(CLR) is evaluated though the simulation using real video traffic(Star Wars). Simulation results show that the FRRP has only 5 ~35% CLR of the fixed TD.
This study tries to test time reallocation hypothesis proposed by Lee(2005) that claims the time use pattern as a whole has changed as new media is introduced-in this case, internet-in our daily lift. It has been pointed out that researches, confined to study whether time use for traditional media is displaced by a new media, have such a limitation as 'media isolationism' and resulted in incoherent conclusions. In order to verify time reallocation hypothesis, which explains the influence of internet use on daily activities with broad perspectives, this research employed two different methods. First, this study analyzed the differences of time use patterns of daily activities and media use behaviors between internet users and non-users by using t-test. Second, logistic regression was used to confirm that the difference of time use pattern between internet users and non-users in many daily activities. The results show that time use pattern for daily activities has reorganized In the most of the age groups. Especially, in the young age groups, time reallocation by internet appeared more obvious than the equivalent old age groups.
