FDM에 의한 응고해석시 계산시간 단축을 위한 음적해법의 적용과 잠열처리방법 (Reduction of Computing Time through FDM using Implicit Method and Latent Heat Treatment in Solidification Analysis)

  • An implicit finite difference formulation with three methods of latent heat treatment, such as equivalent specific heat method, temperature recovery method and enthalpy method, was applied to solidification analysis. The Neumann problem was solved to compare the numerical results with the exact solution. The implicit solutions with the equivalent specific heat method and the temperature recovery method were comparatively consistent with the Neumann exact solution for smaller time steps, but its error increased with increasing time step, especially in predicting the solidification beginning time. Although the computing time to solve energy equation using temperature recovery method was shorter than using enthalpy method, the method of releasing latent heat is not realistic and causes error. The implicit formulation of phase change problem requires enthalpy method to treat the release of latent heat reasonably. We have modified the enthalpy formulation in such a way that the enthalpy gradient term is not needed, and as a result of this modification, the computation stability and the computing time were improved.

  • The magnetohydrodynamic axisymmetric instability of a streaming gas jet surrounded by bounded fluid with non-uniform field has been developed. The problem is formulated, solved and the boundary conditions are applied across the interfaces. The eigenvalue relation is derived and discussed analytically and the results are confirmed numerically. Some reported works are recovered as limiting cases from the present general results. The streaming has a destabilizing effect for all short and long wavelengths. The capillary force is stabilizing for short wavelengths but it is destabilizing for long wavelengths. The axial magnetic fields interior the gas and fluid media are stabilizing. The transverse field is destabilizing for all wavelengths. The radii ratio of the gas and fluid cylinders plays an important role for stabilizing the model and made it more realistic one than the full liquid jet or/and the ordinary hollow jet. The numerical analysis clarify the stable and unstable domains based on different values of the various parameters of the problem.

  • 범죄가 다양화, 지능화 되면서 시민과 함께하는 경찰활동이 강조됨에 따라 경찰활동에서 시민의 적극적인 참여에 대한 필요성이 대두되었다. 또한 사건 지향적 경찰활동에서 사건이 발생하는 문제를 해결하자는 문제지향적 경찰활동의 효과성이 인정되면서 우리나라도 그에 대한 활성화 필요성을 인식하게 되었다. 마지막으로 외부를 통제하는 게이티드 커뮤니티의 확산에 대응하는 경찰활동의 필요성과 게이티드 커뮤니티(Gated Community)의 확산에 대응하는 경찰활동의 필요성을 인식하여 Third Party Policing(TPP)의 도입 활용을 목적으로 하고 있다. 우리나라에서의 TPP의 활용을 위해 운영과정의 매뉴얼화, TPP를 위한 전담팀 구성, 시민과 경찰조직의 의식전환, 현실적인 동기부여 방안 등을 강구는 것이 본 연구의 초점이다.

  • 1960년대 이후, 촬영된 이미지가 사실 혹은 진실을 드러내주기보다는 진실과 유사한 '사실적 환상'을 제공한다는 인식과 더불어 진정한 사실성의 추구를 위한 이론과 실험이 계속되어 왔다. 국내에서도 이러한 동영상 매체의 유사진실성 문제에 대해 어느 정도 인식의 공유는 이루어지고 있으나, 문제는 이러한 인식이 제작으로까지 이어지는 예가 적다는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 다큐멘터리 장르에 있어서 유사진실성의 문제를 일으키는 '봉합' 작용을 최소화 하고 리얼리즘을 구현하는 하나의 대안적 방법으로 외화면에 주목할 것이다. 외화면의 활용을 통하여 리얼리즘을 구현한 사례들을 분석함으로써 다큐멘터리 제작의 끊임없는 화두라 할 수 있는 '사실성' 혹은 '진실성'의 문제에 근접할 수 있는 대안적 가능성으로서의 외화면 활용 방법을 제안하고자 한다.

확장충돌맵의 수학적 분석을 이용한 다개체의 충돌탐지 (Conflict Detection for Multi-agent Motion Planning using Mathematical Analysis of Extended Collision Map)

  • Effective tools which can alleviate the complexity and computational load problem in collision-free motion planning for multi-agent system have steadily been demanded in robotics field. To reduce the complexity, the extended collision map (ECM) which adopts decoupled approach and prioritization is already proposed. In ECM, the collision regions which represent the potential collision of robots are calculated using the computational power; the complexity problem is not resolved completely. In this paper, we propose a mathematical analysis of the extended collision map; as a result, we formulate the collision region as an equation with 5-8 variables. For mathematical analysis, we introduce realistic assumptions as follows; the path of each robot can be approximated to a straight line or an arc and every robot moves with uniform velocity or constant acceleration near the intersection between paths. Our result reduces the computational complexity in comparison with the previous result without losing optimality, because we use simple but exact equations of the collision regions. This result can be widely applicable to coordinated multi-agent motion planning.

  • A method of identifying structural parameters such as stiffness and damping coefficients at interfacial points of vibro-acoustic systems is suggested using an optimization technique. To identify the parameters using a numerical optimization algorithm, cost functions are defined. The cost function should be zero at the correct parameter values. To minimize the cost functions using an optimization technique, a design sensitivity analysis procedure is developed in the framework of the multi-domain FRF-based substructuring method. As a numerical example, a ladder-like structure problem is introduced. With known parameter values and different initial guesses of the parameters, convergence characteristics to the exact value are compared for the three cost functions. Investigating the contours of the cost functions, we find the first cost function has the largest convergent region to the correct value. As another practical problem, stiffnesses of engine mounts and bushings in a passenger car are identified. The numerical examples show that the proposed method is efficient and accurate even when applied to realistic problems.

Optimal placement and tuning of multiple tuned mass dampers for suppressing multi-mode structural response

  • The optimal design of multiple tuned mass dampers (multiple TMD's) to suppress multi-mode structural response of beams and floor structures was investigated. A new method using a numerical optimizer, which can effectively handle a large number of design variables, was employed to search for both optimal placement and tuning of TMD's for these structures under wide-band loading. The first design problem considered was vibration control of a simple beam using 10 TMD's. The results confirmed that for structures with widelyspaced natural frequencies, multiple TMD's can be adequately designed by treating each structural vibration mode as an equivalent SDOF system. Next, the control of a beam structure with two closely-spaced natural frequencies was investigated. The results showed that the most effective multiple TMD's have their natural frequencies distributed over a range covering the two controlled structural frequencies and have low damping ratios. Moreover, a single TMD can also be made effective in controlling two modes with closely spaced frequencies by a newly identified control mechanism, but the effectiveness can be greatly impaired when the loading position changes. Finally, a realistic problem of a large floor structure with 5 closely spaced frequencies was presented. The acceleration responses at 5 positions on the floor excited by 3 wide-band forces were simultaneously suppressed using 10 TMD's. The obtained multiple TMD's were shown to be very effective and robust.

Parametric study of laterally loaded pile groups using simplified F.E. models

  • The problem of laterally loaded piles is particularly a complex soil-structure interaction problem. The flexural stresses developed due to the combined action of axial load and bending moment must be evaluated in a realistic and rational manner for safe and economical design of pile foundation. The paper reports the finite element analysis of pile groups. For this purpose simplified models along the lines similar to that suggested by Desai et al. (1981) are used for idealizing various elements of the foundation system. The pile is idealized one dimensional beam element, pile cap as two dimensional plate element and the soil as independent closely spaced linearly elastic springs. The analysis takes into consideration the effect of interaction between pile cap and soil underlying it. The pile group is considered to have been embedded in cohesive soil. The parametric study is carried out to examine the effect of pile spacing, pile diameter, number of piles and arrangement of pile on the responses of pile group. The responses considered include the displacement at top of pile group and bending moment in piles. The results obtained using the simplified approach of the F.E. analysis are further compared with the results of the complete 3-D F.E. analysis published earlier and fair agreement is observed in the either result.

동적 환경을 위한 A* 알고리즘 기반의 경로 및 속도 프로파일 설계 (A Path & Velocity Profile Planning Based on A* Algorithm for Dynamic Environment)

  • This paper presents a hierarchical trajectory planning method which can handle a collision-free of the planned path in complex and dynamic environments. A PV (Path & Velocity profile) planning method minimizes a sharp change of orientation and waiting time to avoid a collision with moving obstacle through detour path. The path generation problem is solved by three steps. In the first step, a smooth global path is generated using $A^*$ algorithm. The second step sets up the velocity profile for the optimization problem considering the maximum velocity and acceleration. In the third step, the velocity profile for obtaining the shortest path is optimized using the fuzzy and genetic algorithm. To show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method, realistic simulations are performed.

접지 접촉 문제가 없는 새로운 DGS 비대칭 브랜치 라인 하이브리드 결합기 (A New Asymmetric Branch Line Hybrid Coupler without Ground Contact Problem of DGS)

  • A 10 dB branch line hybrid coupler included with defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed. In this contribution, a contact between the grounded metal housing and DGS is avoided, which has been a serious problem in applying DGS to high frequency circuits. An isolation between the metal housing and the DGS pattern is provided by inserting additional substrate between DGS and the metal package. Therefore, it is possible to design branch line hybrid couplers having highly asymmetric power dividing ratio using these DGS structure, which is demonstrated in this paper. The designed and fabricated branch line hybrid coupler using DGS is well packaged in a metal housing without touching the ground metal directly. The measurement is performed under realistic practical operating situations because it is packaged in a metal housing. The measured performances of the fabricated 10dB coupler shows a 1:9 asymmetric power dividing ratio at output ports, as predicted. In addition, the measured performances in terms of matching, isolation, and phase difference are in excellent agreement with the simulated characteristics.
