  • This paper described the estimation methods of CO2 emission of vehicles. The important of energy and environment has emerged in the world, and the field of vehicle's development as well. CO2 was particularly the object of emission-regulation that caused of global warming. There are performance comparison methods by driving mileage, International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and chemical equation for the combustion of Octane. We took the measurement by getting data through OBD-II port from vehicle covered 5 km on road. We got the diagnosis information, specific mileage and fuel consumption in this experiment. We are able to expect similar CO2 emission by the methods in the normal speed driving. Also, we can make more realistic approach of CO2 emission by the method of estimation by IPCC and chemical equation for the combustion of Octane in rapid acceleration driving.

  • Silicon nitride ($SiN_x:H$) films made by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) are generally used as antireflection layers and passivation layers on solar cells. In this study, we investigated the properties of silicon nitride ($SiN_x:H$) films made by PECVD. The passivation properties of $SiN_x:H$ are focused on by making the antireflection properties identical. To make equivalent optical properties of silicon nitride films, the refractive index and thickness of the films are fixed at 2.0 and 90 nm, respectively. This limit makes it easier to evaluate silicon nitride film as a passivation layer in realistic application situations. Next, the effects of the mixture ratio of the process gases with silane ($SiH_4$) and ammonia ($NH_3$) on the passivation qualities of silicon nitride film are evaluated. The absorption coefficient of each film was evaluated by spectrometric ellipsometry, the minority carrier lifetimes were evaluated by quasi-steady-state photo-conductance (QSSPC) measurement. The optical properties were obtained using a UV-visible spectrophotometer. The interface properties were determined by capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurement and the film components were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy detection (RBS) - elastic recoil detection (ERD). In hydrogen passivation, gas ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 show the best surface passivation property among the samples.

  • In ad hoc networks, a distributed timing synchronization is studied using a firefly-inspired approach. We illuminate the exiting synchronization algorithm based on the theory of pulse-coupled oscillators so that the algorithm can be applied to multi-carrier systems through packet-based communications, where nodes communicate over an orthogonal frequency-division multiple access air interface. As our main result, we introduce a new sync-code detector, which optimally designs both the coupling function and the detection threshold when various network parameters such as the number of nodes in the network and network topology are given a priori. Computer simulations are performed to show the convergence to a synchronized state in realistic network environments.

  • As new database systems are developed or new functions are added to existing database systems, database developers or users would like to evaluate new database systems or new functions. This paper presents an integrated database benchmark suite. The integrated suite offers genetic benchmarks, custom benchmark, and hybrid benchmarks to users on a unified Web user interface. With regard to text data generation, the integrated suite supports eight data distributions with three data types. The integrated suite can also generate XML data in three different ways. Users can run benchmarks in realistic environments by performing the workload generation facility of the integrated suite, which generates composite workloads similar to real-world workloads. Using supporting tools, users can easily implement new generic and custom benchmarks in the integrated suite. An illustrative demonstration to add a new custom benchmark into the integrated suite is presented.

  • This paper presents the development of a certain highly efficient authoring tool for constructing realistic 3D virtual space using image-based rendering techniques based on a virtual space map. Unlike conventional techniques such as TIP, for constructing a small 3D virtual space using single image, the authoring tool developed herein produces a wide 3D virtual space using multiple images. This tool is designed for constructing each small 3D virtual space for each input image, and for interconnecting these 3D virtual spaces into a wide 3D virtual space using a virtual space map. The map consists of three elements such as specific room, link point and passageway, and three directions. It contains various information such as the connection structure, the navigation information and so on. Also, the tool contains a user interface that let users construct the wide 3D virtual space easily.

  • Various types of games have been published in a smart phone game market. However, there are little serious simulation games among them. In this study, parking simulation game has been developed and published on the Apple app store and Android market, to analyze the usability and prospects of the smart phone based serious simulation game. Developed game was designed to give users realistic simulation experience with immersion in the smart phone environment. In case of Apple app store, more than 300 thousands download have been recorded. This means serious simulation games have much more potential for commercial value, even though there are constrains with small display and user interface.

  • The spread of satellite image increases various services using it. Especially, 3D visualization services of the whole earth such as $Google\;Earth^{TM}$ and $Virtual\;Earth^{TM}$ or 3D GIS services for several cities provide realistic geometry information of buildings and terrain of wide areas. These service can be used in the various fields such as urban planning, improvement of roads, entertainment, military simulation and emergency response. The research about extracting the building and terrain information effectively from the high-resolution satellite image is required. In this paper, presents a system for effective extraction of the building model from a single high-resolution satellite image, after examine requirements for building model extraction. The proposed system utilizes geometric features of satellite image and the geometric relationship among the building, the shadow of the building, the positions of the sun and the satellite to minimize user interaction. Finally, after extracting the 3D building, the fact that effective extraction of the model from single high-resolution satellite will be show.

  • The campus has been composed of a very variety buildings. However, there is almost no easy way to see information about room number of each floor of the buildings and all buildings. For that reason, in this paper, we have developed a 3D simulation system for the 3D visualization of campus building information. Each building and cross section of floor was modeled in 3D based on the actual drawing. And texture mapping were using real photos. The user interface was divided into frames for menu and 3D viewer. When you select a building name from the menu, 3D viewer shows the selected building by zooming. And menu frame is shown the various information related to the building. Also when you select a room number of each floor, a separate web browser shows the cross section by VRML viewer. Conversely, when you click on the building in the 3D viewer, menu frame is shown the various information related to the building. This system is very useful in that provide realistic building information of campus.

  • The Disturbed State Concept (DSC) model, with simplified unloading/reloading formulation, is implemented in a nonlinear dynamic finite element program fur porous media named DSC_DYN2D. In this research, the DSC constitutive model is utilized using the HiSS model for relative intact (RI) part and the critical state model for the fully adjusted (FA) part in the material. The general formulation for implementation is developed. The cyclic loading tests from the field load test data on a pile segment were numerically simulated using the finite element program DSC_DYN2D and compared with field measurements and those from the previous analysis with the HiSS model. The DSC predictions show improved agreement with the field behavior of the pile compared to those from the HiSS model. Overall, the computer procedure with the DSC model allows improved and realistic simulation of the complex dynamic soil-structure interaction problems.

  • In this paper, we propose haptic interfaces based on force feedback to provide a physical painting experience to virtual reality users. Through this system, the user can create surface-based painting holding a haptic stylus, while utilizing both visual feedback from the worn HMD and haptic feedback during painting. In particular, the haptic interfaces simulate the physical interaction between painting brush and painting, which can help to improve the spatial perception of users and compensate for visual feedback. This can reduce laborious drawing works to repeatedly paint strokes and therefore yield a better painting performance. As a result, users can experience more effective and realistic VR painting with this system.
