안드로이드 앱을 이용한 실시간 유료 방송 취약점 분석 (A Vulnerability Analysis of Paid Live Streaming Services Using Their Android Applications)

  • 동영상 실시간 스트리밍 (Live Streaming)이란 텔레비전 생방송처럼 촬영한 정보를 실시간으로 사용자의 동영상 플레이어로 보내 재생하도록 하는 방식을 말한다. 비디오와 오디오를 실시간으로 인코딩하여 많은 사용자들이 동시에 시청하기 위해서는 RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol), HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) 등 실시간 스트리밍을 지원하는 프로토콜이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 스트리밍을 제공하는 국내 6개 OTT (Over the Top) 업체의 어플리케이션을 대상으로 패킷 캡처를 통해 어플리케이션들의 패킷을 분석하였다. 채널 목록을 암호화하지 않거나, 유료채널에 적합하지 않은 프로토콜을 사용함으로써 유료채널을 무료로 시청할 수 있다는 취약점을 밝히고자 한다.

Zephyr 커널에서 고정 시간 동기식 IPC 구현 (Fixed Time Synchronous IPC in Zephyr Kernel)

  • Linux Foundation has announced a real-time kernel, called Zephyr, for IoT applications recently. Zephyr kernel provides synchronous and asynchronous IPC for data communication between threads. Synchronous IPC is useful for programming multi-threads that need to be executed synchronously, since the sender thread is blocked until the data is delivered to the receiver thread and the completion of data transfer can be known to two threads. In general, 'IPC execution time' is defined as the time duration between the sender thread sends data and the receiver thread receives the data sent. Especially, it is important that 'IPC execution time' in the synchronous IPC should be fixed in real-time kernel like Zephyr. However, we have found that the execution time of the synchronous IPC in Zephyr kernel increases in proportion to the number of threads executing in the kernel. In this paper, we propose a method to implement a fixed time synchronous IPC in Zephyr kernel using Direct Thread Switching(DTS) technique. Using the technique, the receiver thread executes directly after the sender thread sends a data during the remaining time slice of the sender thread and we can archive a fixed IPC execution time even when the number of threads executing in the kernel increases. In this paper, we implemented synchronous IPC using DTS in the Zephyr kernel and found the IPC execution time of the IPC is always 389 cycle that is relatively small and fixed.

Localized evaluation of actuator tracking for real-time hybrid simulation using frequency-domain indices

  • Accurate actuator tracking plays an important role in real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) to ensure accurate and reliable experimental results. Frequency-domain evaluation index (FEI) interprets actuator tracking into amplitude and phase errors thus providing a promising tool for quantitative assessment of real-time hybrid simulation results. Previous applications of FEI successfully evaluated actuator tracking over the entire duration of the tests. In this study, FEI with moving window technique is explored to provide post-experiment localized actuator tracking assessment. Both moving window with and without overlap are investigated through computational simulations. The challenge is discussed for Fourier Transform to satisfy both time domain and frequency resolution for selected length of moving window. The required data window length for accuracy is shown to depend on the natural frequency and structural nonlinearity as well as the ground motion input for both moving windows with and without overlap. Moving window without overlap shows better computational efficiency and has potential for future online evaluation. Moving window with overlap however requires much more computational efforts and is more suitable for post-experiment evaluation. Existing RTHS data from Network Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) is utilized to further demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. It is demonstrated that with proper window size, FEI with moving window techniques enable accurate localized evaluation of actuator tracking for real-time hybrid simulation.

  • The real-time industrial network, often referred to as fieldbus, is an important element for intelligent manufacturing systems. Thus, in order to satisfy the real-time requirements of field devices, numerous fieldbus protocols have been announced. But, the application of fieldbus has been limited due to the high cost of hardware and the difficulty in interfacing with multi-vendor products. Therefore, as an alternative to fieldbus, the computer network technology, especially Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), is being adapted to the industrial environment. However, the crucial technical obstacle for Ethernet is its non-deterministic behavior that makes it inadequate for industrial applications where real-time data have to be delivered within a certain time limit. Recently, the development of switched Ethernet shows a very promising prospect for industrial application due to the elimination of uncertainties in the network operation resulting in much improved performance. This paper focuses on the application of the switched Ethernet with cascade structure for industrial communications. More specifically, this paper presents an analytical performance evaluation of switched Ethernet with cascade structure, and a case study about networked control system.

Real-time comprehensive image processing system for detecting concrete bridges crack

  • Cracks are an important distress of concrete bridges, and may reduce the life and safety of bridges. However, the traditional manual crack detection means highly depend on the experience of inspectors. Furthermore, it is time-consuming, expensive, and often unsafe when inaccessible position of bridge is to be assessed, such as viaduct pier. To solve this question, the real-time automatic crack detecting system with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) become a choice. This paper designs a new automatic detection system based on real-time comprehensive image processing for bridge crack. It has small size, light weight, low power consumption and can be carried on a small UAV for real-time data acquisition and processing. The real-time comprehensive image processing algorithm used in this detection system combines the advantage of connected domain area, shape extremum, morphology and support vector data description (SVDD). The performance and validity of the proposed algorithm and system are verified. Compared with other detection method, the proposed system can effectively detect cracks with high detection accuracy and high speed. The designed system in this paper is suitable for practical engineering applications.

An Effective Stopping Rule for Software Reliability Testing

  • The importance of the reliability of software is growing more and more as more complicated digital computer systems are used for real-time control applications. To provide more reliable software, the testing period should be long enough, but not unnecessarily too long. In this study, we suggest a simple but effective stopping rule which can provide just proper amount of testing time. We take unique features of software into consideration and adopt non-homogeneous Poisson process model and Bayesian approach. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity of our stopping rule.

  • 분산 환경의 많은 멀티미디어 응용들은 연속적 음성/화상 자료들을 위한 실시간 특성을 가지는 패킷들을 생성하고, 실시간 태스크 스케줄링 이론에 따라 이들을 전송한다. 본 논문에서는 광대역폭 통신망을 기반으로 하는 분산 멀티미디어 응용의 연속 미디어를 위한 트래픽의 특성을 모델링하고. 보다 사용자의 요구에 따른 서비스 질의 보장을 위하여 비선점적 경성 실시간 태스크 스케줄링 이론인 PDMA 알고리즘을 도입한다. 또한. 응용 시스템의 고 품질 서비스를 유지하기 위하여 새로운 트래픽 발생 요청이 현재 진행 중인 서비스 내용에 영향을 주지 알도록 제어하는 사용권 제어 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 사용권 제어 기법은 PDMA 알고리즘을 위한 충분조건식이기 때문에 이를 만족하는 메시지 집합에 대하여 PDMA 알고리즘은 항상 실행가능한 스케줄을 찾을 수 있다. 따라서, 새로운 요청을 포함하는 전체 메시지 집합이 제안하는 사용권 제어 기법의 조건들을 만족하면, 새로운 요청에 의한 트래픽의 발생을 허용한다. 그렇지 않은 경우 새로운 요청을 거절한다. 끝으로 본 논문에서 제안하는 사용권 제어 기법을 이용하는 스케줄링의 실용성을 입증하기 위한 모의실험 결과를 보인다

블러가 심한 물체 검출을 위한 고속 MMX 영상처리 (High-speed Image Processing for Blurred Image for an Object Detection)

  • This paper suggests a high-speed blurred blob image inspection algorithm. When we inspect some products using high-resolution camera, the detected blob images usually have severe blur. And the blur makes it hard to detect an object. There are many blur-processing algorithms, but most of them have no real-time property for high-speed applications at all. In this paper, an MMX technology based algorithm is suggested. The suggested algorithm was found to be effective to detect the blurred blob images via many simulations and long time real-plant experiments.
