  • Systems such as military inspection equipment which it is important to acquire and evaluate data in real-time should be able to real-time processing at the operating system level. As technology advances, there is a demand for replacing existing equipment with mobile device, but mobile devices with Android are not suitable for systems requiring real-time performance. On Android, garbage collection ensures free memory, while other tasks are interrupted while this task is performed, which cannot guarantee periodicity of particular tasks. In this paper, we designed and implemented a structure to control execution garbage collection of Android to solve this problem. Real-time performance is ensured by controlling garbage collection during the time required for real-time operation, and RTiK(Real-Time implanted Kernel) is applied to ensure real-time performance on Android. In order to evaluate the performance, we measured the call period of the 5ms period task, and, only 34.31% of the task was guaranteed before the control, but the task period of 98.18% was satisfied through control, providing real-time performance to Android.

  • In this article, we present a performance enhancement scheme for mobile applications by adopting persistent memory. The proposed scheme supports the deadline guarantee of real-time applications like a video player, and also provides reasonable performances for non-real-time applications. To do so, we analyze the program execution path of mobile software platforms and find two sources of unpredictable time delays that make the deadline-guarantee of real-time applications difficult. The first is the irregular activation of garbage collection in flash storage and the second is the blocking and time-slice based scheduling used in mobile platforms. We resolve these two issues by adopting high performance persistent memory as the storage of real-time applications. By maintaining real-time applications and their data in persistent memory, I/O latency can become predictable because persistent memory does not need garbage collection. Also, we present a new scheduler that exclusively allocates a processor core to a real-time application. Although processor cycles can be wasted while a real-time application performs I/O, we depict that the processor utilization is not degraded significantly due to the acceleration of I/O by adopting persistent memory. Simulation experiments show that the proposed scheme improves the deadline misses of real-time applications by 90% in comparison with the legacy I/O scheme used in mobile systems.

  • This study provides a comprehensive analysis of recent studies conducted on the topic of nowcasting in order to enhance the accuracy and promptness of official statistical data. Furthermore, we propose an alternative approach involving the utilization of real-time data and its corresponding collection methods to effectively operate a real-time nowcasting model capable of accurately capturing the current economic condition. We explore high-frequency real-time data that can predict economic indicators in both the public and private sectors and propose a pipeline for data collection processing and modeling that is based on cloud platforms. Furthermore we validate the essential elements required for the implementation of real-time nowcasting, as well as their data management protocols to ensure the reliability and consistency needed for accurate forecasting of official statistical indicators.

  • In order to design a real time big data collection and analysis system of manufacturing data in a smart factory, it is important to establish an appropriate wired/wireless communication system and protocol. This paper introduces the latest communication protocol, OPC-UA (Open Platform Communication Unified Architecture) based client/server function, applied user interface technology to configure a network for real-time data collection through IoT Integration. Then, Database is designed in MES (Manufacturing Execution System) based on the analysis table that reflects the user's requirements among the data extracted from the new cutting process automation process, bush inner diameter indentation measurement system and tool monitoring/inspection system. In summary, big data analysis system introduced in this paper performs SPC (statistical Process Control) analysis and visualization analysis with interface of OPC-UA-based wired/wireless communication. Through AI learning modeling with XGBoost (eXtream Gradient Boosting) and LR (Linear Regression) algorithm, quality and visualization analysis is carried out the storage and connection to the cloud.

  • Temperature and humidity data collection using real-time sensors and data loggers was conducted for integrated pest management in the collection storage and exhibition space of the Jeongnimsaji Museum, Buyeo. The real-time temperature and humidity monitoring system collected measurement data every 30 minutes and enabled real-time confirmation of the data through a linked application. If the temperature and humidity data measured in the real-time temperature and humidity monitoring system exceeds the set range, a push notification was sent to the mobile phone of the person in charge to provide status information to establish a continuous management system. Through this, it was possible to immediately recognize and take action when the temperature range exceeded the recommended relic temperature in August. We performed data visualization on the concentration of airborne fungus in the storage area and the inflow path and density of insects. Based on the recommended criteria presented by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, The data on the spatial and temporal concentration of airborne fungus inside the collection storage were found to be maintained at a value below the standard recommended by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (80 CFU/m3). Also, as a result of the insect inflow survey, no insects were captured inside the storage area, and in the case of the exhibition space, insects such as Scutigera coleoptrata, Loxoblemmus arietulus, Diestrammena asynamora, Koreoniscus racovitzai were captured. Based on this, as a result of visualization according to the individual density of captured insects by area, it was confirmed that the main inflow paths of insects were the external entrance and the toilet area.

  • This paper discusses a deep learning-based road surface analysis system that collects data by installing vibration sensors on the 4-axis wheel bearings of a vehicle, analyzes the data, and appropriately classifies the characteristics of the current driving road surface for use in the vehicle's control system. The data used for road surface analysis is real-time large-capacity data, with 48K samples per second, and the A2B protocol, which is used for large-capacity real-time data communication in modern vehicles, was used to collect the data. CAN and CAN-FD commonly used in vehicle communication, are unable to perform real-time road surface analysis due to bandwidth limitations. By using A2B communication, data was collected at a maximum bandwidth for real-time analysis, requiring a minimum of 24K samples/sec for evaluation. Based on the data collected for real-time analysis, performance was assessed using deep learning models such as LSTM, GRU, and RNN. The results showed similar road surface classification performance across all models. It was also observed that the quality of data used during the training process had an impact on the performance of each model.

  • NAND flash memory has advantages of non-volatility, little power consumption and fast access time. However, it suffers from inability that does not provide to update-in-place and the erase cycle is limited. Moreover, the unit of read/write operation is a page and the unit of erase operation is a block. Therefore, erase operation is slower than other operations. The AGC, the proposed garbage collection policy focuses on not only garbage collection time reduction for real-time guarantee but also wear-leveling for a flash memory lifetime. In order to achieve above goals, we define three garbage collection operating modes: Fast Mode, Smart Mode, and Wear-leveling Mode. The proposed policy decides the garbage collection mode depending on system CPU usage rate. Fast Mode selects the dirtiest block as victim block to minimize the erase operation time. However, Smart Mode selects the victim block by reflecting the invalid page number and block erase count to minimizing the erase operation time and deviation of block erase count. Wear-leveling Mode operates similar to Smart Mode and it makes groups and relocates the pages which has the similar update time. We implemented the proposed policy and measured the performance compare with the existing policies. Simulation results show that the proposed policy performs better than Cost-benefit policy with the 55% reduction in the operation time. Also, it performs better than Greedy policy with the 87% reduction in the deviation of erase count. Most of all, the proposed policy works adaptively according to the CPU usage rate, and guarantees the real-time performance of the system.
